Mr. Pattinson, are you disillusioned with your career?
I think a lot of actors get disillusioned and say, “Oh, I thought it was going to be one way, and it’s something else.†I never thought anything was going to be any particular way at all! You know, in the good times and the bad times, they’re all just new experiences. So I can’t really be disillusioned with anything because I didn’t have any expectations at all.
What about people’s expectations of you?
I’ve never really acknowledged people’s expectations of me. A lot of actors sort of fall into the job and feel like they’re going to get “found out,†like, found out that they’re a fraud or something like that. I think loads of people feel like that. I did a film with Anton Corbijn called LIFE where I played the photographer who shot those famous photos of James Dean and there are a lot of parallels between an acting career and a photography career.

Luigi De Laurentiis Award
All the debut full-length films presented in the Venice Film Festival’s various sections will compete for the award. An international Jury composed of 5-7 personalities from the world of cinema and culture will award the prize to be shared in equal parts between the director and producer.

Imagine my surprise and delight when I opened up today’s newspaper?! I’ve kept my scans nice and BIG so hopefully easy to read for all those who can’t get the newspaper, it’s a great interview. Should I say this is a Scottish/UK newspaper, although kind of obvious in their title 🙂

We were looking out for this and the great news is that LIFE is included in the Gala Premieres section for the Zurich Film Festival later this month, the screenings will be 28-30 September – it also looks like Anton Corbijn will be in attendance on the 28th – how wonderful!!
