According to The Batman Brasil a source on the film production team told them the following concerning Rob and Matt Reeves’ The Batman:

  • Rob will return to the set on 2 January 2021 and will finish filming in late January/early February 2021, Colin Farrell on 7 February 2021 and Zoe Kravitz on 7 January 2021. Andy Serkis and Paul Dano have finished filming.
  • the film is already in the process of reshoots, as it has already been recorded 100% of the film. He will return to record some scenes in June, only in case of urgency.
  • if all goes according to plan, we will have a big surprise soon from Matt Reeves.
  • Reeves really wanted to release this film in November. But Warner and Robert Pattinson didn’t like it, and preferred to leave it until 2022.

We hope this information is correct, would love to see the big surprise sooner rather than later. In any event, we can now say – The Batman is coming next year (always looking for the silver lining).

Thanks The Batman Brasil.

According to Deadline:

Hollywood Legion Theater is set to screen Christopher Nolan’s action-thriller Tenet at the Drive-In at Post 43 starting December 5.

The Legion Drive-In screenings give L.A. audiences another opportunity to watch Tenet was one of the first tentpole films released in September during the pandemic when theaters were shuttered.

“We are absolutely thrilled to offer Los Angeles moviegoers a chance to see this extraordinary film on the big screen for the first time,” said Legion Theater Director Bill Steele.

The drive-in is located in Hollywood just south of the Hollywood Bowl. The Legion Theater Drive-In, which opened in October, is the first-ever drive-in cinema in the heart of Hollywood operating seven nights a week. The drive-in opened in October.

Building Gotham City and the Batcave for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman

According to Daily Mail:

The Batman crew were seen busily preparing a new sprawling set for the superhero flick in a studio lot on Tuesday, new aerial shots have revealed.

Transforming the outdoor space into a intricately detailed recreation of Gotham City, builders had already put up streets, burnt-out buildings, and even its very own Batcave for Robert Pattinson’s Caped Cursader to venture into.

Placed in a separate part of the film lot, the Batcave looked magnificent with its immense rock face which had been decorated with trees and shrubbery to exaggerate how vast the structure was.

A large pit had been built into the makeshift rock face with the floor painted a dark sleet grey to create a sense of foreboding when filming began on the completed set.

While the inside of the Batcave was not visible, a large hole had been built into the side of the set piece so that the crew could film Robert inside the lair from multiple angles.

Christopher Nolan Talks “TENET” Release with Los Angeles Times

imgbox

The LA Times spoke with Christopher Nolan and Tom Shone in relation to Shone’s new retrospective book on Nolan “The Nolan Variations: The Movies, Mysteries, and Marvels of Christopher Nolan”. Here’s what Christopher Nolan had to say about the current release of Tenet:

It is, though, an argument for taking movies seriously. And it’s out in a moment when the film business is facing existential challenges because of COVID-19. How do you see the outlook for movies?

Nolan: Well, it’s a difficult question to speak to. If you’re talking about the acceleration of existing trends, that’s something I started reading right at the beginning of the pandemic. And it ignores the reality that 2019 was the biggest year for theatrical films in history. They’d made the most money. The admissions were huge. So to me, it’s much more about: What’s the new reality we’re living in?

Warner Bros. released “Tenet,” and I’m thrilled that it has made almost $350 million. But I am worried that the studios are drawing the wrong conclusions from our release — that rather than looking at where the film has worked well and how that can provide them with much needed revenue, they’re looking at where it hasn’t lived up to pre-COVID expectations and will start using that as an excuse to make exhibition take all the losses from the pandemic instead of getting in the game and adapting — or rebuilding our business, in other words.

Long term, moviegoing is a part of life, like restaurants and everything else. But right now, everybody has to adapt to a new reality.

Although some are saying that the US release may be considered a failure, Box Office Pro reports the following:

“Warner Bros.’ TENET registered its first domestic weekend under $1 million, earning $885k from 1,601 locations. The Christopher Nolan thriller is the top-grossing new release in North America since the pandemic with $53.8 million. … Internationally TENET earned $3.3 million from 62 markets over the weekend, including a $277k debut in Brazil (1,000 screens). Top global markets for the title include China ($66.5M), North America ($53.8M), Japan ($24.1M), UK ($22.7M), and France ($22.5M).”

Tenet’s international box office is USD293 million giving it a total of USD346.8 million. To check out previous box office head to our roundup HERE.
