A photographer walks into a room and finds Jesus Christ , Vincent Van Gogh , a counterfeiter, a teenage wizard , a vampire and Batman …. well that’s kind of what it felt like shooting this #dynamicduo at #tiff19 for @deadline. I’d gotten a beautiful portrait of @willemdafoe1955 back when he was promoting @thefloridaproject ( for which he received an Oscar nomination ) ….but that was not the case with bonafide hearththrob and megastar @robertpattinsonofficial when he had dropped by to promote Canadian director #DavidCronenberg’s film #Cosmopolis, as I literally had 30 seconds with him and could only shoot him with his other cast members . This year however , both were in town together with production designer turned director @roberteggers_ to promote the dark surreal antiquarian like film @lighthousemovie for #tiff19…. it is definitely on my list of movies to cross off my list over the holidays , as well as his previous offering #thewitch which I’m embarrassed to say I still have not seen yet but have heard nothing but great things about . I had planned to use the grey drippy canvas I made at #farfromworries over the summer for their portrait and I’m really happy with the way it worked out in the end ….so for #tifftuesday and #ChristmasEve here’s the shot that was used in a story about the film for #awardsline magazine that came out last week as well as an unpublished shot of Dafoe, Pattinson & Eggers together …. so much respect for #RobertEggers for his fanatical attention to detail and desire to use antiquated techniques and processes to achieve an authentic period feel in his work #thelighthouse #willemdafoe #robertpattinson #shotinnovascotia #shotonfilm #originalhorror #periodpiece #roberteggers ©️Chris Chapman Photography 2019
