“While doing indie films certainly isn’t unpopular among acclaimed actors (in fact, it is quite common) the way in which Pattinson made his left turn into the genre could have led to a quick “one and done” career, fizzling out with the singular iconic role of Edward. But Pattinson wanted to take the honest route full of refreshing roles that would stretch his acting abilities, not sticking to mindless blockbusters just so he could make large paychecks. He loved the art of acting too much for that.

We’ve all heard stories from Rob over the years how his first job was a paper run. Business Insider spoke with Vipin Patel who gave Rob that job. It’s always great to read Rob has always been charming and hard working and I have to agree with this comment from Vipin “All the other Batmans were fantastic in their own right, but Robert will be special,” then again, I agree with everything Vipin has said. Vipin Patel, the owner of a British convenience store, was sorting through his newspapers one morning 15 years ago when he learnt that a former employee of his – Robert Pattinson – was cast in the hugely successful film franchise “Harry Potter.”

“I can’t even pinpoint when it was but I was like, ‘Wow that’s Robert’ when I read one of the papers here about him,” Patel said.

Patel told Insider he signed the star’s very first paycheck in his store when Pattinson was a teenager looking for some pocket money.

Patel said the then-15-year-old Pattinson – who is now the face of Dior Homme – wasn’t stylish.

Nor was he known as heart-throb “R-Patz” among the local ladies, although Patel said he was always handsome.

To the owner of Natsons newsagency in Barnes, south London – the British actor was simply “Robert the paperboy.”

Cinematographer Boucard Matias shared a new photo of Rob, via his Instagram, from the set of the Dior Homme “I’m Your Man’ commercial.
