As an Australian it is fantastic to hear that Rob had such a special connection with this film. Selfishly so did RPAU – where we had the chance to interview Rob on The Rover Red Carpet and ask him about his tattoos in the film. Special film for special memories. Here’s what Rob had to say before introducing the film at Karlovy Vary:
Robert Pattinson arrives at Karlovy Vary Film Festival
Rob arrived by private jet in Vara to attend the Karlovy Vary Film Festival first to introduce The Rover at a special screening and of course he’ll receive The President’s Award tonight.
Robert Pattinson doesn’t know how to gauge audience reactions

I didn’t have time to watch this yesterday when it turned up on YouTube – and I have to admit originally I thought it was an extract from this Film4 Interview for The Rover in 2014, but it’s new. Enjoy. Rob starts around 2.53.
Let’s rewind back to 2014. Rob and Guy Pearce are doing press for “The Rover”. Near the end of this interview with Rolling Stone’s movie critic Peter Travers, the discussion turns to Rob’s and Guy’s musical abilities. Peter comments on Rob’s brief singing in the movie and questions the possibility of a duet between Rob and Guy. As Guy begins to sing, Rob clearly doesn’t possess the same confidence in his singing voice.
As a footnote, I would LOVE to have seen Rob as Cuban Dancer 2 in “Guys and Dolls”. Just sayin’
In 2014, Rob made a guest appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote the U.S. release of “The Rover”. During their conversation, Seth asked Rob if it was true that, when he was a kid, he wanted to be a rapper. Rob replied “Yeah, 100%. I still kinda do.” He then revealed his rap alter ego: Big Tub. He admitted to Seth that he didn’t know how to “scratch”, so he used to pull the zipper up and down on his hoodie. LOL Sadly, the recordings of Big Tub and the Tabbycats remain hidden to this day. I suspect we would all be pre-ordering if they ever dropped a CD. And we’re still impatiently awaiting for that global tour announcement.Â
Expected to attend Mickey17 World Premiere in London on 13 February 2025. Appearance to be announced in February.
German premiere at Berlinale - 15 February 2025 at 6.30pm (4.30AM AEST 16 Feb).
