For some reason I am unable to update the previous Film News post for The Odyssey, so I will provide future updates here (as well as updating the dedicated Film Page).

World of Reel is reporting that The Odyssey has finally wrapped (8 August 2025):
“Yes, Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has still been shooting all this time, but this behemoth seven-month production is nearing its end as I’m told by a crew member that production is in its final day and will wrap on Friday.
…
Stunt coordinator James Newman recently spoke about the scale of the film:
They’re never going to make a movie like this again. It’s the epic of all epics. The locations are insane — all over Europe — because Odysseus’ journey spans ten years. It’s wild.””

We mentioned before that The Odyssey trailer would be out in cinemas in July. It is apparently prior to the Jurassic World: Rebirth. However, as per usual, it has leaked online. Don’t worry there’s no Rob in it and even if there was, we wouldn’t be posting it. I believe most of the leaks have been taken down, but for those interested Deadline is reporting as follows:
“We open on an overcast ocean, with someone saying in voiceover, “Darkness. Zeus’ law smashed to pieces. A kingdom without a king since my master died. He knew it was an unwinnable war. And then, somehow, somehow he won it.”
We cut to Tom Holland’s Telemachus — son of Odysseus — asking a character played by Jon Bernathal whether he’s seen his father.
Bernthal replies that he hasn’t since the Trojan war, before addressing a room full of people to ask, “Who has a story about Odysseus? You? You have a story?”
Per Bernthal, “Some say he’s rich. Some say he’s poor. Some say he perished. Some say he’s imprisoned.” Still, he wonders, “what kind of prison could hold a man like that?”
The trailer ends with a look, from a distance, at a man floating along on a piece of driftwood. Seemingly, it’s none other than the missing Greek King, played by Matt Damon.

We posted on 20 June 2025 below that World of Reel said a teaser was coming out in cinemas in July. And now Nolan Analyst has confirmed. Oh to be fortunate enough to see this on the big screen.

According to World of Reel we may be seeing a teaser some time in July:
“I’m told a teaser for “The Odyssey” is ready, one narrated by Anna Hathaway, and could potentially release in July, tied to screenings of “Jurassic World: Rebirth.” Don’t expect much footage, it’ll be edited in the same minimalist vein as the last few Nolan teasers.”
Production is currently in Iceland and then heading to Ireland in July with London to follow.

As you may be aware, Christopher Nolan is currently filming “The Odyssey” in Italy and so was not in attendance at CinemaCon. However, Jim Orr, Universal Pictures president of domestic theatrical distribution, praised Nolan’s “visionary take” on the story and had this to say according to The Hollywood Reporter:
“We know this film will be a once-in-a-generation cinematic masterpiece that Homer himself would be very proud of,” he said.
The film is being described by Universal as a “mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”
Orr also took a moment to single out how Nolan “assembled a staggering all-star cast.” Indeed it is. The Universal feature is packed with stars like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Benny Safdie, Cosmo Jarvis and Ryan Hurst, among others.”
