Update: 18 April 2022

WHAT TIME DOES THE BATMAN COME OUT ON HBO MAX?

The Batman will begin streaming on HBO Max on Monday, April 18 at 12:01 a.m PT or 3:01 a.m. ET. If the clock strikes midnight on the west coast and you don’t yet see The Batman on HBO Max, try refreshing the page, or logging out and logging back in again.

WHERE ELSE CAN I WATCH THE BATMAN?

If you don’t have an HBO Max subscription, then, beginning on April 18, you can buy The Batman on digital via something Warner Bros. is calling “early Premium Digital Ownership,” which basically means you’ll have to pay extra. The Batman will cost $29.99 to buy, and $24.99 to rent for 48 hours, on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play.

In addition, The Batman will be available on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 24, 2022. Now go get some vengeance!

Update: 12 April 2022

It’s confirmed – The Batman will be on HBO Max from 18 April 2022! According to Deadline:

The Batman now has a solid premiere date on HBO Max. The Warner Brothers blockbuster will launch on the streaming service on Monday, April 18, and also will air on HBO on Satuday, April 23 at 8 PM ET.

It was expected that the Matt Reeves-helmed pic, starring Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne, would land on HBO Max in late April. A tech glitch on the HBO website last month briefly posted the date of April 19 for the HBO Max launch before it was taken down. All Warner Bros. theatrical releases are slated to hit the streaming service 45 days after their debut in cinemas. The pic has grossed $735 million worldwide, $359 million domestic.

UPDATE: 5 April 2022

From Variety:

Warner Bros. has not yet officially announced what exact date Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” will show up on HBO Max, but most fans are pointing to April 19 as that aligns with the studio’s 45-day theatrical window. The studio would not confirm a date when asked by Variety, but it did offer up the 45-day window for guidance on when “The Batman” will start streaming… Variety film critic Peter Debruge raved about the film, writing, “This grounded, frequently brutal and nearly three-hour film noir registers among the best of the genre, even if — or more aptly, because — what makes the film so great is its willingness to dismantle and interrogate the very concept of superheroes.”

UPDATE: 17 March 2022

According to Deadline:

A tech glitch on the HBO website accidentally revealed the HBO Max and pay cable network’s premiere dates for the studio’s current blockbuster hit The Batman, which is set to bank a half-billion dollars worldwide by this weekend at the global box office.

The listing, which you can see below, has since been scrubbed, but we hear the dates of Tuesday, April 19 on HBO Max and Saturday, April 23 on HBO linear are legit. By the way, all of this makes sense: WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar has continually mentioned that for 2022 and until further notice, all Warner Bros theatrical releases will hit HBO Max 45 days after their debut in cinemas.

In the case of The Batman, it’s 46 days after its March 4 U.S.-Canada theatrical release.

Last year, Warner Bros implemented a controversial day-and-date plan for its theatrical movies on HBO Max; this as a means to spike subscribers for its frosh OTT service, while preventing event titles from going to seed during the pandemic. The Batman reps Warner Bros’ return to a theatrical window, and, man, has it been successful.

27 December 2021

According to Comic Book:

The Batman will take flight on HBO Max after a 45-day exclusive window in theaters, confirms WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar.

In a recent interview with Vox’s Recode, Kilar confirmed The Batman will be available to stream on HBO Max on day 46 of the 45-day theater-exclusive window. The Matt Reeves-directed reboot opens in theaters on March 4 and will stream for HBO Max subscribers on April 19, 2022.

“Think about when movies would show up on HBO, which is eight to nine months after theatrical premiere. The Batman is going to show up on day 46 on HBO Max,” Kilar said. “That is a huge change from where things were in 2018, 2017, 2016.”
