I love how much respect Rob earns from everyone he works with.

This interview with Daniel Arrias who is the stunt coordinator / trainer for The Batman happened in October 2020 and I’ve started the interview where they start talking The Batman (58.07). During this excerpt Daniel says “that’s who I was talking about before” and thanks to Monsieur_HJ she has extracted that excerpt.

“I’m working with a someone right now who is not an athlete, who is a great actor….”

Big thanks to Gavin who uncovered this!

Never underestimate him, that is the mantra for the new Batman fans. In a fairly recent interview, Rob talked about how he hopped on to the running train (@15 mph) in Water for Elephants with bare (and sweaty) hands and was amazed that they let him do it saying one wrong move he would have been under the wheels. He is up for anything as you see in the Rover, LCOZ, and Tenet too (Nolan said he did a lot of the driving). He gives more than 100% to his parts in any movie. May be they will figure it out.

But looks like instead of testosterone driven, steroid filled body builder look with stunt action (I wonder if they pay the stunt people well?) we are seeing all around for which I am not an audience, we will get arthouse Batman with RP, and I am on board.

Oh I also read that Michod had the stunt guy do the final fight in the mud scene in King but liked what RP did better and used it. I wish I could whip up the citations for these but hard to keep all of it in my head.

well summarized 🙂 I think he is very brave into the various roles he had. and I think he is athletic enough. also not a big fan of “gonflette” = steroid type body builder 🙂 .

Easy to miss but congrats to RoBat for picking up the excerpt on what he said about RP, @47:27 in the full video (I missed it when I heard the video).

Perfect, appreciate that, Maria. I was looking to see where I heard the other bit about train jumping in WfE. It was a more recent interview and I vaguely remember the context as being one of remembering about stunts. May be in one of the promo press stuff of the LH or Tenet. But I gave up on searching for it. It does not matter.

I am excited about the Batman though with all the hoopla going on. LOL.

Praise like this and respect for Rob comes as no surprise to any of us here at RPAU. None-the-less, it’s always great to hear different people who work with Rob express their high opinion of him. Thanks for sharing the video x
