Robert Pattinson and Andy Serkis star as Bruce Wayne and Alfred in #TheBatman
The LADbible spoke exclusively with Andy Serkis who is Alfred opposite Rob’s Bruce Wayne and hinted at the following concerning what Matt Reeves has planned for The Batman:
And though the 56-year-old remained tight-lipped about it all, he admitted to LADbible that the film will be more intense than others that have gone before it.
When asked whether fans were right to expect a ‘darker, broodier’ Batman, the Lord of The Rings star laughed: “I would say that’s not far from the truth.
“It’s very much about the emotional connection between Alfred and Bruce. That’s really at the centre of it. And it is a really exquisite script that Matt has written.
…
“I was literally half way through shooting my part in it when we got shut down. So it will be interesting to see when that resurfaces how it has been affected by it [lockdown].
“But it is, it’s going to be a beautiful film.”
As for when The Batman will resume filming, Deadline reports the following after seeing an early draft plan from the British Film Commission’s to keep high-end film and TV scripted shoots safe from the scourge of coronavirus:
Below is a rundown of some of the key standards recommended in the document, with eye-catching advice including that all productions appoint a properly authorized COVID-19 supervisor to oversee on-set safety. The document also features guidance on pre-shoot safety training, testing, quarantining foreign actors, social distancing and catering.
It is drafted to help big-budget film and TV shows, such as The Batman and The Witcher, get back on track following the coronavirus shut down in March. The guidelines are designed to be scalable for productions of different sizes and can be used alongside company-specific protocols. The BFC makes clear it is not responsible for enforcing the codes of practice.
It sure will be a headache for whoever has to get The Batman on track with some of these guidelines, but people’s health and safety is paramount so I’m content with waiting until all is good before anyone gets back on that set.
