Robert Pattinson is a dog lover

I honestly couldn’t believe the fuss I woke up to in relation to Robert’s story/joke on JimmyKimmelLive. Now Robert has had to come out and make a statement to clarify:

The story I told on Jimmy Kimmel last night seems to have spiraled out of control. What didn’t come across is that this was supposed to be a joke. No one at all expected or assumed that anything like that would happen on the Good Time set.

We are all huge animal lovers and would obviously never do anything to harm an animal. Everyone involved in Good Time are amazing professionals and have come together to make a movie that I’m extremely proud of. I feel embarrassed that in the moment, I was trying to make Jimmy laugh, only to create confusion and a false impression.

Storm in a teacup.

Honestly, @Carmel, that was my first thought too ~ but then I assumed I was being biased/sensitive because I have been a supply teacher in the UK! LMAO

I do think sometimes that, whilst it’s easy for us to dismiss Rob’s crazy stories as being pure entertainment (based on perhaps an element of fact but exaggerated to entertain), to those that don’t know him so well, a different impression may easily be formed. Let’s face it, if Justin Bieber was to have told a similar story, he too would have been crucified by many. There’s something nice about being able to say and hear crazy stories in this PC world, and accepting that the intention behind it was to make people laugh. I know sometimes I replay in my head, things that come out of my own mouth, purely for entertainment, and later think about how that might sound if the wrong audience was to hear it. (I am thinking of a cringe-worthy comment I made very recently, which got a lot of laughs at the time, but I’ve lost sleep over the fact that I said it at all.)

But for the record, I seriously am NOT a curtain person. And I don’t condone locking teachers in cupboards. Unless they’ve been really nasty. Then all bets are off.
