I have included the excerpts about The Rover below & you can read the full article here at the source.

From Garry Maddox for The Age:

So what are the leading contenders to win the competition at the Sydney Film Festival? If it was down to star power, the front-runners for the $60,000 prize would be the opening night attraction, Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard’s Nick Cave documentary 20,000 Days On Earth and David Michod’s outback thriller The Rover, with Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson. You could also throw in Bong Joon-ho’s SF thriller Snowpiercer, with Chris Evans, John Hurt and Tilda Swinton, the Dardenne brothers’ French drama Two Days, One Night, with Marion Cotillard, and Steven Knight’s English drama Locke, which stars Tom Hardy.

But the competition for ‘‘courageous, audacious and cutting edge’’ films has been dominated by bold and creative films with then little-known actors in its six years, unearthing such rising filmmaking talents as Steve McQueen (who won with Hunger and then made 12 Years A Slave), Nicolas Winding Refn (who won with Bronson, made Drive, then surprisingly won again with Only God Forgives) and Xavier Dolan (who won with Heartbeats, then made the Cannes jury prize winner Mommy).

Most acclaimed film?
Diao Yinan’s Chinese film noir Black Coal Thin Ice comes to Sydney after winning the top prize at the Berlin Film Festival. The most anticipated film in the competition has to be The Rover, Michod’s long-awaited follow-up to Animal Kingdom, while the least known is first-time Australian director Kasimir Burgess’s drama Fell, with Matt Nable and Daniel Henshall.

2 sleeps everyone 😀

2 sleeps? After seeing him arrive in Sydney in that yellow shirt, I’m not so sure I’ll be getting much sleep @Michelle. Now, if the powers at be could stop the rain for a few days, please?
