Guess what I came across today as part of the Vivid Sydney.  Have secured tickets for myself and Vertigo as we find hearing about the industry from professionals fascinating.

For a bit more info:

“How do you tackle the business of making feature film in Australia, and getting your work screened around the world? How can filmmakers develop original scripts, support new talents, and adopt innovative approaches to telling stories through cinema?

This session brings together two fascinating independent filmmakers who have done exactly that, to ask each other the questions every director, producer, actor and crew member wants to hear answered: how do you get the support you need to back ambitious projects? How do we take ambitious Australian stories to the world?

Producer Liz Watts (Porchlight Films) has brought us some of Australia’s most critically-acclaimed films, including Animal Kingdom, Little Fish, Lore and The Hunter, while her latest production, The Rover, is directed by David Michôd and stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson – with it’s first screening outside of Cannes taking place in the official competition at Sydney Film Festival this year.

Sophie Hyde (Closer Productions) works as a director and producer, making provocative and intimate drama and documentary work. Hyde was producer on Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure, a cult hit which premiered at Sundance 2011 in the world documentary competition and New Directors New Films at MOMA. Her short drama, dance, experimental and documentary work has won prestigious awards around the world and her first feature drama 52 Tuesdays (director, producer, co-writer), recently won the Directing award for World Cinema at Sundance Film Festival and the Crystal Bear for best film (Generation 14plus) at Berlin Film Festival.

At 9:00pm each weeknight at the Vivid Ideas Exchange we’re pairing celebrated creatives in conversation about their inspirations and frustrations for our In Conversation series. Tackling personal questions about creativity and process, these creative leaders will share the inside story. Don’t miss what promises to be a rare and intimate opportunity to gain insight into the projects and personalities of these local and international legends.”

Can’t wait.  Purchase your tickets here
