This news definitely comes as no surprise with Rob’s busy busy schedule this year but it does make me a little *sad face*  Would have loved to have seen him as Eric Maddox, but NO way we can be disappointed when Rob has soooo many AMAZING projects this year, no way at all.  All the info thanks to The Wrap:

Robert Pattinson has exited “Mission: Blacklist,” an indie thriller about the hunt for Saddam Hussein, due to scheduling issues, The Wrap has learned.

First announced in May 2012, Pattinson was set to play military interrogator Eric Maddox, who spearheaded Hussein’s capture.

With two films premiering at Cannes, Pattinson is coming off a very active period. He just wrapped Anton Corbijn’s “Life” with Dane DeHaan and did not have sufficient time to prepare for his demanding role in “Mission: Blacklist,” an individual familiar with the situation told TheWrap.

The role of Maddox will now be recast, and the filmmakers hope to start production this fall.

Swedish filmmaker Jesper Ganslandt remains attached to direct from a script by “Band of Brothers” scribe Erik Jendresen, Dylan Kussman and Trace Sheehan, who adapted  Harper Collins’ 2008 book “Mission: Black List #1,” written by Maddox and Davin Seay.

Preferred Content’s Ross Dinerstein is producing with Jendresen and Kevin Waller, as well as Bart Rosenblatt of Code Entertainment, which is also financing the film.

Pattinson has a busy spring with two films heading to Cannes — David Cronenberg’s “Maps to the Stars” and David Michod’s “The Rover.” He also recently wrapped the role of photographer Dennis Stock opposite Dane DeHaan’s James Dean in Anton Corbijn’s “Life.”

Looking ahead, Pattinson is attached to star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in James Gray’s “The Lost City of Z” and the James Marsh thriller “Hold On to Me” with Carey Mulligan. He’s repped by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, Curtis Brown Group and attorney Robert Offer.

NOOOOOOOOoooooooo!!!!! Don’t they know, the poster’s already made?! *giggles*

Okay, I’m asking permission to pout and stomp my feet and generally feel a little heartbroken about this for a few hours. Knowing that this news may well have been coming, still hasn’t prepared me properly. I really did feel my whole face morph when I first saw this post. Something to do with counting my chickens before they’ve hatched, I guess.

Need to focus on Busy Rob, I get that. Let me just go sob in the corner for a while first.

*cough* Some of us ay need a little ‘pick-me-up’, if you’re listening, @Santa.

I’m not surprised by this at all. I always thought Rob might pull out as soon as the director did.

I’m a little nervous we might hear him pull out of one more film too, but the light in the tunnel – motorcycle riding, drug dealer, leather jacket wearing Jimmy in Hold On To Me.

I’m sad about this news but I get it. Shame. I know this is way beyond whatever because nothing is set but wouldn’t it be great if Rob could work with David M again in the new movie that he is writing the script for. I know, I know it’s way off but I love David M and he seems to be gaining so much respect, it would be wonderful.

What I meant to say before I got distracted was that I trust the choices Rob makes, he obviously has his reasons and MB was getting very iffy. He knows what he’s doing.

Well, this surprised me but in hindsight, I suppose it shouldn’t.

I do think it shows us how clever Rob is being with his career. Sometimes it is what isn’t said that speaks the loudest.

🙁 would have loved to have seen Rob take on this challenging role. There’s no doubt he’s lined up for a busy rest of the year so in hindsight something had to give. Still so much to look forward to though!

Oh @Silvie I have an inkling that Rob has something else he wants to do and M:B might just get in the way. Would be wonderful if it was DM’s latest pic. Would not surprise me in the slightest and let’s not forget that LCoZ is a Brad film too j/s

I like the way you think Maria. 😀 Yeah, something’s up, it’s not like Rob to go back on his word. I would scream for joy if Rob worked with David again.

Um, I’m going to look on the bright side – at least he doesn’t have to get his head shaved…

I was sooo looking forward to seeing him in this movie and sad that he backed out but he must have a really good reason. He is extremely busy this year and next so we do have those movies to look forward to seeing.

I still think the “unofficial poster” is great!

I’ll join in the chorus of being bummed out that this is no longer happening for Rob but I absolutely trust his judgement. It’s such an enviable position that he has to withdraw from one exciting project to allow himself to do other exciting projects!! His fans are the winners in the end 🙂 I really loved seeing so many articles online reporting this story talking about his busy schedule and listing upcoming films/directors and the fact he has TWO films in Cannes. So positive!! 🙂

I love the sound of him working with Michod again girls, keep putting that out there!! 🙂

Onwards….and good luck to those involved with MB. It’s an amazing story which deserves to be told. 🙂
