This news definitely comes as no surprise with Rob’s busy busy schedule this year but it does make me a little *sad face*  Would have loved to have seen him as Eric Maddox, but NO way we can be disappointed when Rob has soooo many AMAZING projects this year, no way at all.  All the info thanks to The Wrap:

Robert Pattinson has exited “Mission: Blacklist,” an indie thriller about the hunt for Saddam Hussein, due to scheduling issues, The Wrap has learned.

First announced in May 2012, Pattinson was set to play military interrogator Eric Maddox, who spearheaded Hussein’s capture.

With two films premiering at Cannes, Pattinson is coming off a very active period. He just wrapped Anton Corbijn’s “Life” with Dane DeHaan and did not have sufficient time to prepare for his demanding role in “Mission: Blacklist,” an individual familiar with the situation told TheWrap.

The role of Maddox will now be recast, and the filmmakers hope to start production this fall.

Swedish filmmaker Jesper Ganslandt remains attached to direct from a script by “Band of Brothers” scribe Erik Jendresen, Dylan Kussman and Trace Sheehan, who adapted  Harper Collins’ 2008 book “Mission: Black List #1,” written by Maddox and Davin Seay.

Preferred Content’s Ross Dinerstein is producing with Jendresen and Kevin Waller, as well as Bart Rosenblatt of Code Entertainment, which is also financing the film.

Pattinson has a busy spring with two films heading to Cannes — David Cronenberg’s “Maps to the Stars” and David Michod’s “The Rover.” He also recently wrapped the role of photographer Dennis Stock opposite Dane DeHaan’s James Dean in Anton Corbijn’s “Life.”

Looking ahead, Pattinson is attached to star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in James Gray’s “The Lost City of Z” and the James Marsh thriller “Hold On to Me” with Carey Mulligan. He’s repped by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, Curtis Brown Group and attorney Robert Offer.

Though I’m not able to post as often as I used to, the girls graciously invited me to share my favorite Rob moments of 2013. It was quite an epic year for Rob as his career moved forward with the beginning of production on new film projects and, of course, the launch of the Dior campaign.  I’m looking forward to plenty of Rob goodness in 2014 when we finally see him back on the big screen. And on that note, here are my favorite selections of 2013. . .

Favorite Photoshoot: Dior Homme

As is always the case with a Rob photoshoot, it’s nearly impossible to pick a favorite photo. So I’m cheating and picking a few favorites.

Dior Rob Collage

Favorite New Anticipated Movie Role: I’m excited about all of Rob’s upcoming projects but it will definitely be great to see him back on the big screen in 2014 in David Michod’s ‘The Rover’ and collaborating once again with David Cronenberg in ‘Maps To The Stars’.

In terms of films that are yet to begin production, I have to go with ‘Mission: Blacklist’. Hopefully all the pre-production issues will be ironed out and a filming date will fall into place. The fact that Eric Maddox was so impressed with and personally selected Rob to portray him on the big screen says a lot. And I have no doubt that Rob will do the role justice.

Mission Blacklist

Favorite Dior Moment:  ‘The Ball’ from the Dior Homme film.

The film in its entirety was brilliant, but I especially loved the ball scene, as Rob takes the hand of the female guest and sweeps her around the dance floor. For me, it was like a Cinderella/Prince Charming moment. She blushes like a young girl and looks like she is on Cloud 9, as I’m sure all of us would if we were dancing with him, and I found it so endearing. He just has that effect.

Favorite Public Appearance:  The Go Go Gala in November.

A great cause and another lovely example of charitable Rob. And what can I say, I was giddy to see the return of  the goutee.

Favorite Surprise Appearance: Visit to Children’s Hospital of L.A.

It just melted my heart to see Rob giving his time and attention to some of the young patients at CHLA.

I really enjoy listening to Eric Maddox talk & love what he says about Rob here.  The audio player can’t be embedded so I have included the Rob/movie mention in the video below.  If you wish to listen to the whole interview, you can do so here at the source, it’s the first audio player on the page.  I want to see this movie SO BADLY.

The exciting Rob movie news just keeps on coming *claps hands* Ever since we heard about this project & I read the book I have been SO excited to see Rob play Eric Maddox & have kept everything crossed since.  According to Production Weekly:

Prod Weekly update: “MISSION: BLACKLIST” STATUS: April 28 LOCATION: California
PREFERRED CONTENT
PRODUCER: Ross M. Dinerstein – Kevin Waller WRITER: Erik Jendressen – Dylan Kussman – Trace Sheehan
DIRECTOR: Jesper Ganslandt CAST: Robert Pattinson
CODE ENTERTAINMENT
Unlike other Interrogators fresh out of training, Eric Maddox (Pattinson) has a brilliant and beautiful mind. He has a unique ability to decipher highly
complex patterns from seemingly random events. His mission is to trap the world’s most wanted man, Saddam Hussein – and he must defy his
superiors to uncover his prey. The closer he gets to the truth, the more dangerous the hunt becomes. Based on the book Mission: Black List #1 – The
Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein – As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture by Eric Maddox with Davin Seay.

Thanks to @sallyvg’s keen eye – looks like we won’t be seeing Rob as Eric Maddox until 2015.  Here is screenshot from Embankment Film’s website:

I don’t mind waiting as long as we get it.   For Aussies the US Fiscal year starts in October (unlike ours that starts in July).   *Update:  I’ve also had confirmation Q2 is April – June 2014.
