See, I appreciate the effort you’ve gone to, I really do and I could see how being soaking wet could cool you off, BUT, not when the soaking wet is Robert Pattinson!!!!!!!!! If I didn’t need a cold shower before, I most definitely need one now!!!!!!!!!

The temp has thankfully cooled down here which was SO needed but looking at these pics has raised it right back up again *fans self too* LOVE these, thanks for sharing Maria.

Hope everyone is keeping safe with these awful bush fires that are happening around the country.

hahaha sorry the heat is bring out the evil in me and I’ve spent pretty much the entire day sitting on the couch watching Charlie Hunnam in Sons of Anarchy Season 1 so yeah it’s been scorching all freakin day!

Yeah – not exactly the desired effect, Maria. The mercury is certainly rising here at the moment.

@Michelle – Us getting a bit hot is slightly irrelevant when Tassie and so many other parts of the country have been in flames. My thoughts are with all those effected by the fires

Perhaps not the most appropriate place/time but I just wanted to say that I finally read REFUGE, had to stay up late to finish it now I cna’t sleep. A very powerful story touching on a roller coaster of emotions. Scary, disturbing, loving, gentle, brutal, heartfelt moments when I could hear my head voice shouting NO. What a read, what a story! 2.12 am now I’ll try to get some shut eye.

I’m glad someone brought up reading a good book. This mystery ride has got me reading again! And listening to music again! And giggliing again. I don’t know why this man has this effect on me. I have decided to read up on Getrude Bell, the Queen of the Desert, in anticipation of upcoming film. btw, my FAVORITE pic is Rob with the little birdies.

@Silvie ~ couldn’t agree more. I gave my copy to a couple of friends to read over Xmas, who both LOVED it. Finally got to read Refuge myself around New Year’s ~ what a fantastic read, can’t believe I left it next to my bed untouched for so long. Thanks to Maria & Jules for reviewing & sharing with us ….. feel free to share any other book suggestions, any time.

@Sue, thank you. Thank you for mentioning Maria & Jules, it was a long time ago that the book was recommended and I couldn’t remember who actually mentioned it. If book 2 comes out I’m sure it will be just as fantastic. One book that is my real favourite is Shantaram. I recommend that book to everyone and anyone. When I first picked it up I didn’t think I’d get through it but then I couldn’t put it down. “Money” is also a very interesting read, I had to give that a go because it was a Rob book. I thought it was very insightful. Please feel free to share other suggestions as well. I’m always on the look out for a good read.

Ha ha ha! I was going to say if I was down there, these would only make me hotter. No definitely not working. We are freezing cold up here, and just looking at this I’ve worked up a sweat.

Thanks Maria, he looks beautiful in these as always.

@Silvie – it was me because I was fortunate enough for Nick to let me read a draft of it before it was published. We are in the process of promoting a Q&A with Nick on this twitter – he’s busy working on Book 2 at the moment (which is due out this year) so he’s a difficult man to pin down, but I did ask and he has graciously agreed that he will give 2 personally signed hardcopies to the two best questions. I’ll be posting about it as soon as I can lock down a date – which we were hoping will be in the next week. If you want to send us any questions – just send to robertpattinsonau@hotmail.com.

As for Shantaram – agreed. You know Johnny Depp bought the rights to the book years ago – it’s in his “projects in development”. I think Charlie Hunnam (or Rob) would make a great Gregory David Roberts *oops*. As for Money, I’m not a Martin Amis fan to be honest. I did however love Kill Your Friends by John Niven. Anything by Ian McEwan or Manuel Puig for me – Kiss of the Spiderwoman is one of my ultimate fave books.

@Silvie oh I’m so glad you enjoyed Refuge(Sue, too!!)! Yes, we are all very fortunate that Maria brought it to our attention….truly a wonderful story. Maria, that’s great news that Nick’s busy on book 2! 🙂 how generous to offer signed copies….I need to think of some good questions!!

Dammit, meant to say that I hope anyone dealing with those crazy temperatures is ok. Thinking of you all….thanks for the beautiful Rob pics to provide a distraction M!! 😉

@Maria, I thank you personally for recommending Refuge, now I’m looking forward to the next one. Truely an amazing story. Good luck in trying to pin down Nick, Q&A sounds really good. I better have my questions ready. I agree with Kiss of the Spiderwoman but I haven’t read Kill your Friends…I’m onto it. Thanks for the tip

Johnny Depp..Wow he’d be a great Gregory but I think Rob would be fantastic as well. He does have that aura about him. I’ve wanted SO much for Shantaram to be a movie, if I had the money to spare I would do almost anything to move along this project.

I cannot say enough how much I loved Refuge, such an amazing story. Am so excited for book 2. We really are so fortunate that Maria brought Refuge to our attention, thanks so much once again Maria. Two signed hardcopy books is so generous. Nick is such a lovely man.

@Sivlie – I think Johnny wants to direct/produce rather than star. His production company bought the rights. Unfortunately it was a casualty of the writer’s strike back and I believe although it was a Warners Bros movie it’s now in turnaround which I believe means – they are trying to sell it to another company. I guess it’s another film that we may see in the next 10 years *fingerscrossed*

hhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmslllllllllrrrrrrrrrth…. that’s the sound I made as I melted all over the floor looking at these smoking hot babies… holy hell, Maria! Just survived the heat wave on this side of the country and am bracing for the next round in a couple of days time, and here you’ve gone and single-handedly raised the temperature with just one post!
Um, haven’t yet read ‘Refuge’ but certainly will after all these positive reviews. Can I add one to the list? (via Rob when asked what book he’d most like to see adapted for screen – I know you can’t trust the press when it comes to this stuff but I took it at face value and was rewarded). Ayn Rand’s ‘The Fountainhead’. Because of Rob’s (supposed) comment, I coudn’t see anyone else playing the lead role. Great book.

    • January 10, 2013 at 9:35 am

@Trish I read Rand’s The Fountainhead many moons ago after seeing the 1949 classic with Gary Cooper. I think he actually said it in a vid interview because I remember commenting on it and I rarely comment on print media 🙂

Thanks Maria regarding Shantaram info. Definately something to look forward to. Have to tell you, I often drive past the Pentridge complex and ever time I do I visualise Rob jumping down from the fence escaping as Gregory. I know I shouldn’t say it but damn it I see he as that character.
