Actually I’ve seen a few slices of humble pie over the last few days, but I thought I’d just post this one from Clint Morris of Moviehole. Seems that some of these critics are actually realising we weren’t insane and yes “He’s actually pretty bloody good”. Yeah Clint we know and I think we have been singing it from the rooftops since Haunted Airman, but that’s okay – as long as you are all coming up to speed and it’s better late than never. Haha I’m the cliche queen today. Clint states:
“Saw “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson’s new movie, “Remember Me” yesterday. Didn’t quite know what to expect – though the apt support cast (Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper in particular), and Allen Coulter’s (“Hollywood”) anointment as director, indicated that it might be something less mush and more meat. And that’s exactly what it was. It’s Pattinson riding in Coach, as opposed to First Class (the smooth, trouble-free ride that offers a prettier, but not always stunning, view), and you know what? I think he proves his worth here. He’s actually pretty bloody good. And nothing against the film adaptations of the Nicholas Sparks’ novels (in fact, I’ve enjoyed every one of those bar “NIghts in Rodanthe”, which sucked worse than a toothy hooker in a butcher’s strike) but I sure as hell believed the romance at the center of this pic – between Pattinson and co-star Emilie de Ravin (“Lost”) – a lot more than the slightly manipulative passionate plays of say, “The Notebook” or “Dear John”, “Remember Me” just plays a lot realer. I’ll review the flick down the track, but for the moment, let me just say I’m truly convinced at least one of the “Twilight” ‘hunks’ (that’s what you gals call ’em, right?) has some legitimate acting ability.” (my emphasis)
Wow Michelle – is this guy waxing lyrical or what? Funny how when I did the same back on my review of our screening of How To Be in March 2009, I was branded a screaming fangirl – so Kat if you are still out there – does this mean that Clint is now in good company with me as an SFG? I believe Kat that there might be a slice of humble pie somewhere for you too. Thanks to our gorgeous friend Kate at our elite affie ROBsessed and Catalina for the tip.
legitimate acting ability indeed. Bout time they stop refering to him as ‘twilight star’.
Sing it out loud Clint!
Thanks for this Maria – I don’t need to say anymore as you’ve done a fabulous job in the commentary.
“pretty bloody good” was most excellent to wake up to on this Sunday morning. 🙂
I feel like sticking my tongue out and flipping these people the “bird” ans saying told you so you a!*H**!s!!!!
And as for being branded a “screaming fan girl” shelly I”ll go with you in ya want to sort this person out hon!!!
At last these people have woken up & realised what we have known ALL along & it is about damn time. Indeed Maria, we’ve been singing it from the rooftops for years now. There has definitely been some major humble pie eaten over these past days & I am enjoying every minute of it. ‘Pretty bloody good’ & ‘legitimate acting ability’ is for sure Clint. Good to see you have finally caught up & realised this.
Ah yes Maria, the infamous Kat. So Kat, what do you have to say now. Are we all still, as you put it ‘Screaming Fangirls’ or maybe can I offer you some cream with your humble pie?!
I hope she chokes on her hunble pie shelly the SDB.
HALLELUJAH baby !!!!!!!
just thought I’d throw that in since it’s Sunday and someone has finally seen the light 😛
First of many I have no doubt and no offence meant but we could feed half a starving nation with the humble pie that’s going to be dished out in 11 days.
Actually @Cindy it was me that was called the screaming fangirl not Michelle, but that’s okay. It was quite a solid personal attack I since I wasn’t co-owner of site then, I had to refrain from telling her what I really thought, but I suspect perhaps I didn’t give her one of the HTB posters we had as giveaways and she was a tad pissed.
Well maria hon wanna go sort her out? What a friggin cheek pardon my french I hope you gave her more than a piece of your mind maria.
I love Clint from Moviehole! He’s a great reviewer, and I think he “says it like it is” – he isn’t ashamed to admit he likes something…. more critics should be like him! go clint!
