In keeping with the How To Be posts today by Cilla and Michelle, I thought I would provide you with yet another review of the film. This time it’s by Amanda Bell from The Examiner and it is one of the better ones I have read so far (or maybe it’s because I agree with everything she says). For those of you who are yet to see the film, this will be a further tease before your DVD arrives in late May and if you are interested in reading it you can click here, but I warn you it does contain “Spoilers”.Â
And speaking of “Spoilers” as some of you may have already seen or heard there has been a leak of the film on the internet because of yesterday’s IFC on Demand release in the US. Please don’t send us emails asking us to post this link. Cilla has been a staunch supporter of How To Be (and as most of us know, she spent a considerable amount of time and energy, together with Shanna, to bring it to Australian screens). Oliver Irving and Justin Kelly have struggled to find distributors and the film is only now achieving the recognition it deserves.  Posting a link or downloading it means that any profit they deserve to make from the sale of DVDs will greatly diminish. If you desperately want to see “How To Be”, the DVD is being released in the UK on 18 May and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.  Â
Most of us claim we want to see Rob do more indie films in the future. If you are really serious about that then here’s your chance to support them. Please consider this before downloading.
Thanks for putting this up Maria.
*shakes finger* SAY “NO” to downloading this beautiful peace of work. If you are an honest to goodness Rob supporter, please use the links provided above. Please do not ignore the hard work so many people put into this blood, sweat and perhaps tears project, it’s only a 3 week wait for the dvd… which reminds me, I’ll be setting up camp by the post box in about 2 weeks (just incase).
A leak? Well, that sucks :(. I’m certainly not going there. I am actually avoiding to re-watch clips, so as to keep up the anticipation for the DVD!
I confess I downloaded The Bad Mother’s Handbook and The Haunted Airman in the past, because they were not available for sale, before. But now that I have my DVDs I deleted them.
on AMAZON.UK the dvd is of region 2 only wich means it cant play in our Aussie DVD players.. or can it?
Hi Clare – yes it can, but you need to find out how to change the region code on your DVD (all DVD players can do this). Might try ringing the manufacturer, I understand that they may tell you. Otherwise there is a site on the web (which I used, but have forgotten what it was called since it was a while back) that lists all DVD players and how to make it region code 0 which allows you to view all DVDs.
Thanks heaps! i had feeling you could change the region because my dad changed it once for my 21 jump street dvd’s.
Now i can buy it, thanks alot!
