The Twilight Saga was released this week on Netflix USA and Scott Mendelson wrote an opinion piece for Forbes on how Twilight occupied all 5 tops spots among Netflix’s Most-Watched Movies. Below is an excerpt:

The $3.3 billion-grossing Twilight Saga did more than any other modern franchise to debunk the notion that films for and about girls and women were box office poison.

However, at least for today, all five of the top movies on Netflix’s “daily most-watched” list are all five installments in The Twilight Saga. Alas, they aren’t in exact order, as it goes Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight (the first and still the best), Chris Weitz’s New Moon (the worst), Bill Condon’s Breaking Dawn part II (the best sequel with a terrific final reel), David Slade’s Eclipse (the threequel and the only chapter to crack $300 million domestic) and Condon’s Breaking Dawn part I (the one where Bella and Edward get married and have bed-breaking sex before birthing a human/vampire baby).

Stewart and Pattinson both “recovered” from the “Eww, those movies are for girls” cultural backlash and became prestigious and engrossing adult actors. … Pattinson is playing Batman and has crafted an onscreen persona closer to Chris Walken and Crispin Glover than Chris Hemsworth or Chris Pine. I wish Catherine Hardwicke got more mileage out of launching the franchise. Twilight, with an indie sensibility and a self-knowing wit, is easily the best of the bunch.

Click on link above to read the full opinion piece. Personally, I agree with Scott, Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight was the best of all the films for me. Eclipse was the most disappointing.

According to Fotogramas (Spain) reporting on Taron Edgerton replacing Rob in “The Stars at Noon”:

Robert Pattinson’s complex agenda has separated the actor from ‘ Stars at Noon ‘, the film in which he was to return to work under Claire Denis after their meeting in ‘ High Life ‘ (2018).

With ‘ The Batman ‘ (Matt Reeves, 2022) in his closest calendar, and the announced ‘ Idol’s Eye ‘ (Olivier Assayas, 2022) in the queue, the interpreter has had to abandon the project

Rob did mention back in 2017 that Oliver Assayas and he kept in contact about this project. I doubt he dropped out of Claire Denis’ film because of this – it’s probably due to a lot of conflicting schedules at the moment. However, the financier’s Fyzz Facility still have their dedicated Idol’s Eye page (albeit it appears to not have been updated since 2018) and Oliver Assayas’ IMDbPro page has the film still listed as “script as at 5 June 2017”. Assayas did say that he had an offer to make it in the summer of 2018, but that he wanted to film Wasp Network first (which he has done) and that he could possibly shoot in 2019. We all know what happened since 2019 to push back a lot of films so who knows.

Cinemania reported last Thursday on a story about Sly Stallone:

“If in terms of confirmed projects Stallone has a lot of work ahead of him, those that are yet to be confirmed look even better. The actor sounded at the time for Idol’s Eye, a project by Olivier Assayas ( Personal Shopper ) in which Robert Pattinson and Rachel Weisz were also involved.”

Selfishly as much as I love Rob working with Denis, the storyline for Idol’s Eye intrigues me more. If I had to choose between Rob being a dirtbag who spends more time in bed with Qualley’s character against Rob being a scumbag with a 70s pornstache – the latter will win for me every time. I know people will say he’s already done this with Connie in Good Time, but John Mendell was a real jewel thief and well Rob might want to put his spin on him. I’m keeping my eye on this (no pun intended).

I’ve got a few but most memorable – waiting at Fox Studios for over 10 hours for Rob to arrive re BD2 Fan Event.  Weather turned nasty just before Rob was set to appear.  After a torrential storm we met Rob looking like drowned rats, but it was worth it.  Rob’s a champion he still came out and spent loads of time with fans – as Vertigo and Sue will confirm.

This above photo was taken by me on the day – please credit RPAU if reposting as I do own copyright.

Edward was born in 1901 which would make him 120. Hmmm I guess frozen at 17 isn’t so bad.

Ever wanted to own a Cedric Diggory collectible in the image of Rob (albeit he looks a little angrier than Cedric and/or Rob ever did). The current image is the prototype for the latest Star Ace Toys 1/6 scale figure and final shipped image may differnt. Two versions will be released – a standard (Triwizard) and deluxe (Cedric Diggory) with extra accessories coming exclusively to the deluxe. Both versions will show off Cedric in his Hufflepuff outfit and will include a wand, broom and Triwizard Cup. The deluxe will also include Cedric’s Hogwarts school uniform in Hufflepuff colors, magical flash effects and the Golden Egg.

Sideshow and Star Ace present the Cedric Diggory (Deluxe Version) Sixth Scale Figure!  Cedric Diggory was the most handsome, the smartest, the most popular, and the best Quidditch player at Hogwarts, and he was the favorite to win the Triwizard Tournament. But he got caught up in Voldemort’s plot to return to power, and it was Cedric’s fate that signaled a dark turn for the Harry Potter saga. This 1:6 scale articulated figure of Cedric Diggory features an authentic likeness of Robert Pattinson as the character outfitted in his Triwizard competition outfit from the final challenge.  Accessories include his wand, a flying broom, and the Triwizard Cup. The Deluxe version also includes his Hogwarts school uniform in Hufflepuff colors, magical flash effects, and the Golden Egg.

Cedric Diggory (School Uniform) preorder and more info HERE (currently priced at AUD370.87) and expected to ship between October – December 2021.

I’m bringing this forward because I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since this amazing event happened. Still cringe that my nerves made me talk over Rob.
