According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rob has teamed up with filmmaker Parker J Finn to remake the Polish filmmaker Andrzej Zulawski’s 1981 cult supernatural horror film “Possession”. Rob will produce through Icki Eneo Arlo and is rumoured to perhaps star in the film:
The project has engaged the town’s attention, with a bidding war breaking out among A24, Netflix, Paramount, Sony and Warner Bros. The process is in the early stages, with meetings taking place this week, according to sources, and other companies may enter the fray.
Finn is attached to write the script, direct and produce via his Bad Feeling banner. Pattinson is producing via his production company Icki Eneo Arlo; his acting involvement will be clarified down the road as the script and schedules develop. Also producing is Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee, who helped produce Zach Cregger’s breakout Barbarian.
Set in West Berlin, Possession starred Sam Neill as a spy who returns home from the field to his wife (Isabella Adjani) and son. All is not quiet on the marital front as the wife asks for a divorce and the couple next descends into a destructive cycle that not only includes infidelity and neglect but spins into murder, a tentacled alien creature and doppelgangers.
The movie was Zulawski’s meditation on marriage, written as a reaction to his own crumbling marital life. The movie, an international co-production between France and Germany, was not a hit nor particularly well-received when it was released, but it gained a cult status for the filmmaker’s full commitment to the premise and went through a reappraisal.
The reception to the pitches has been extremely positive, with execs talking about the “batshit” and “out there” story but also its strong commercial potential. How to market the eventual movie is also part of the conversations.

Happy to see some film news from Rob even if it means he’s behind the scenes.
Rob may seem quiet to all of us since we have no films coming out this year, but he looks to have been busy working in the background in relation to production. According to Deadline:
Following a competitive auction, Sony Pictures has landed the highly-coveted spec How To Save A Marriage from Ross Evans with Robert Pattinson on board to produce. Evans penned the script and Pattinson’s producing partner Brighton McCloskey via their Icki Eneo Arlo banner will join as producer along with Geoff Shaevitz and Evan Silverberg via Entertainment 360.
Plot details are being kept under wraps and studio sources add the project is still early development. Evans will also exec produce. Insiders say the deal was in the seven figure range with several other suitors in the mix.
While his deal is only to produce at this time (though sources close to the studio hope that it can be developed as a potential star vehicle down the road), insiders add what got Sony so interested in the package is how hands on he wanted to be as the project was being developed. Pattinson has already established himself as one of the top leading men with projects like Mickey17 and a Batman sequel coming up and is now looking to help bring along his production company as he broadens his range as a producer and this project looks to be a big priority when it comes to that specific area.
For those who don’t know, Rob’s production company Icki Eneo Arlo produced the recent film “Rotting in the Sun”. Rob recently interview the star Jordan Firstman for Interview Magazine. Below is the interview conducted over Zoom:
“Jordan Firstman is in his movie star era. The 32-year-old writer and comedian got famous by posting during lockdown, mostly in the form of impressions and character sketches on his Instagram page. But talent that big can’t be contained to an iPhone screen, which led Firstman, who was getting bored of social media fame anyway, to his first starring role in the Sebastián Silva-directed Rotting in the Sun. In the sex-and-ketamine powered dark comedy, Firstman and Silva play versions of themselves in a sort-of retelling of how they first met on a gay beach in Mexico. What follows is a dead-on satire of a world where clout-chasing and creativity collide—to reveal any more would spoil the experience (you can watch it on Mubi). One person who loved it was Robert Pattinson, who signed on as a producer through his company Icki Eneo Arlo shortly before the movie’s Sundance premiere. A few weeks ago, he joined Firstman on Zoom to ask about social media fame, courting controversy, and gay sex.
JORDAN FIRSTMAN: Hey, what’s up?
ROBERT PATTINSON: How’s it going?
FIRSTMAN: Are you still in London?
PATTINSON: Yeah. I’m so brain foggy. I feel like I’m jet lagged, but I’m not. Are you in L.A.?
FIRSTMAN: I’m back in L.A.
PATTINSON: Is this the first time you’re promoting something in a conventional movie sense?
FIRSTMAN: Yeah. I’ve done traditional press before, but I’ve never had to talk about the same project to 50 different outlets and be asked the same questions over and over again. No one teaches you how to do that.
PATTINSON: I was thinking that this morning while doing my research for this interview, which was looking at your Instagram when I was on the toilet for about five minutes. [Laughs]

IndieWire announced the jurors for this year’s Sundance Film Festival being held in Park City, Utah, between 19 and 29 January 2023. And although Rob doesn’t have any films being screened, Indiewire gave this interesting little tidbit about juror Marie-Louise Khondji (who is also the daughter of cinematographer Darius Khondji [The Lost City of Z and Mickey17]):
Marie-Louise Khondji is the founder of Le Cinéma Club — a free, curated streaming platform presenting one film a week, with an emphasis on short formats. Prior to Le Cinéma Club, she worked in film production and distribution. She was an associate producer of Josh and Benny Safdie’s “Heaven Knows What” (2014) and Antonio Campos’ “Simon Killer” (2012). She is currently working with Robert Pattinson on his new production company.
