FILM NEWS: Robert Pattinson & Denzel Washington to Star in Netflix Heist Thriller “”Here Comes the Flood” *Updated 4 July 2025*

Further to the update on 13 June 2025 where we found out filming would commence in New Jersey on 22 September 2025, Daisy Edgar-Jones Fan confirms below from the Production List:

According to The Cinemaholic:

“The Garden State (New Jersey) will host Netflix’s next heist drama! Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Daisy Edgar-Jones will soon arrive in New Jersey to film ‘Here Comes The Flood.’ Principal photography will take place between September 22 this year and January 22, 2026. Fernando Meirelles will helm the project based on a script by Simon Kinberg.

The elevated love-story heist narrative follows an Iraqi war veteran working as a guard at a bank. When an international thief approaches him with a plan to pull off a heist at the bank, he agrees. What the thief doesn’t know is that the guard is in love with a woman who is a teller at the bank. The guard and his ladylove plan a double-cross that will enable them to escape with the heist money while the blame falls upon the thief.”

How great it is to wake up to another new project for Rob and what a stellar cast. Rob wasn’t kidding with his “working, working, working”. THR is reporting:

“Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson and Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in Here Comes the Flood, a Simon Kinberg-penned crime thriller that Fernando Meirelles will direct for Netflix.

Meirelles is also producing the feature with Oscar nominee Kinberg and Audrey Chon, the latter two via their Genre Films banner.

Netflix picked up the original screenplay in 2020, making a splashy seven-figure deal to win a heated spec script auction. It was a markedly different era, with the streaming wars in full swing and the streamer’s film unit being run by Scott Stuber, who always had Netflix’s wallet open. Still, the project survived (at one point Jason Bateman was in talks to direct an iteration but a deal never took), and now five years later has attracted top-shelf talent. [my emphasis]

Logline details are being kept in the dark, but Flood is being described as an unconventional heist movie about a bank guard, a teller and a master thief in a deadly game of cons and double crosses. The story is said to unfold in a non-linear fashion.”

The movie hasn’t shown up yet on Rob’s IMDbPro page, but I did some digging and this is the description currently showing (as well as Jason Bateman still directing). Things may change but it’s an interesting premis:

“An Iraqi war vet gets a bank job. A thief recruits him for a heist, but he’s in love with a co-worker. They double-cross the thief, escape with the money, and frame him.”
