Happy 33rd Birthday to Robert Pattinson!
It’s been quite a busy year since Rob’s 32nd birthday, one filled with new project announcements, press conferences, photocalls, premieres, Q&A’s, film festival appearance, photoshoots, and special appearances. Let’s take a quick look back at some of the highlights . . .
Summer kicked off with the U.S. release of “Damsel”, the press junket, and Rob’s attendance at the L.A. premiere. It was a treat to see Rob showing off a comedic side as awkward Samuel Alabaster. I think most fans would agree that a favorite scene was Rob’s crooning of “Honeybun”, which is featured on the “Damsel” soundtrack.
In the midst of the “Damsel” press junket, it was confirmed that Rob would be reunited with “The Rover” director David Michod in “The King”. It was also announced that Rob would be honored at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. As the summer continued, Rob attended the Dior menswear fashion show for Paris Fashion Week and KVIFF, where he was presented with the President’s award. Filming began on “The King” and Rob made a guest appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” to promote “Damsel”. In September, it was announced that Rob was joining the cast of “The Devil All The Time”. As Fall rolled around, Rob attended the TIFF North American premiere of “High Life” and the press junket followed. Soon after, Rob and the cast of “High Life” attended the San Sebastian Film Festival. The highlight, most would agree, was the reunion of Rob and Scarlett Lindsey, who plays his daughter “Willow” in the film. Scarlett stole the spotlight and we loved it. October brought Rob’s attendance at the U.S. premiere of “High Life” at the New York Film Festival. While reviews for “High Life” were mixed, Rob once again received rave reviews for his performance as Monte. Amid all of the premieres, Rob also attended the amFAR and Go Campaign Gala fundraisers. November treated us with new photoshoots for Interview Magazine, Les Inrockuptibles and Dior. Rob also made a special appearance at the opening night of the Marrakech Film Festival. To close out the year, Rob attended the Fashion Awards in London and presented an award to Dior’s Kim Jones. January and February were fairly quiet on Rob’s end. The exception being an appearance at the Dior menswear show in Paris. March brought some excitement for us. While some Canadian and overseas fans had the opportunity to see “High Life” screenings and hear Rob perform the soulful and haunting “Willow” during the closing credits, many fans had not yet seen the film. To our delight, Stuart Staples of Tindersticks released an official music video for the song, which is also featured on the “High Life” soundtrack.
Also in March came that fabulous news that Rob had been cast in a yet unnamed Christopher Nolan film. You could hear the collective cheering. Details of the project are under wraps for the time being, but the expected release date is in 2020. April brought us our long-awaited first look at Rob’s character in ‘The Lighthouse”. Yet again, Rob has transformed himself and is nearly unrecognizable as Ephraim Winslow. Like the Nolan project, Robert Eggers is keeping quiet about the details of the film. Hopefully more will be unveiled as it was announced that “The Lighthouse” will premiere at Cannes. To round out April, Rob and director Claire Denis took part in Q&A’s both in NY and L.A. to promote the U.S. release of “High Life”.
It’s been an eventful and enjoyable year. Rob is continuing to earn respect and recognition as a serious actor and we couldn’t be more thrilled for him.
Happy 33rd birthday, Rob! Wishing you much success and happiness in the coming year from Robert Pattinson Australia.
