David Michôd #TheKing added to Robert Pattinson IMDbPro Page

I just don’t know what to believe this week.  Rob’s been mentioned in a few articles with new projects – first it was posted that he would be in a film with Willem Dafoe (which turns out was possibly a hoax – although it is a Robert Eggers film and Eggers did co-present a George A Romero retrospective at Metrograph with Josh Safdie last October.  I want to so believe that they talked about working with Rob. It’s probably a stretch I know but …).  Timothee Chalamet was announced yesterday to star in David Michôd’s “The King” which a lot of you will know I’ve speculated about since Rob mentioned working with David in Cannes.  Turns out IMDbPro did add “The King” to Rob and David’s pages, although strangely enough it initially appeared under “Past Films & Video”.  This morning I woke up to it being moved into “Projects in Development”.  Although no official confirmation of Rob’s attachment to the film has been made, this is what a few of the media outlets are saying:

Little White Lies

According to Deadline Chalamet is set to appear in The King as the eponymous English monarch, who famously led his army to victory at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 during the Hundred Years’ War with France. He died aged 36, leaving the throne to his infant son.

Michôd’s previous feature, the Brad Pitt-fronted military satire War Machine, arrived on Netflix last year to little fanfare. The Australian filmmaker has teamed up with regular collaborator and compatriot Joel Edgerton to pen the script for The King, and with Chalamet joining Robert Pattinson in the principle cast, we’re bracing ourselves for something big. [My emphasis]

W MAG

There is some speculation that Robert Pattinson may co-star. Indeed, he is the only other actor listed on IMDB at the moment. Though, that appears to stem from a comment he made during a press conference at Cannes, in which he said he might be working with Michôd on a future project. So don’t necessarily hold your breath on that one.

Production is slated to begin in June so I’m just going to be sitting over here waiting for official confirmation before I get really excited. Perhaps Rob will mention it next week during Berlinale.

The Hollywood Reporter when reporting about Rob’s involvement in Robert Eggers’ “The Lighthouse” mentioned the following:

Pattinson recently debuted his comedic Western Damsel at the Sundance Film Festival and is set for the Netflix feature The King, starring opposite Timothee Chalamet.

This all makes my head spin. I am sure Rob would work with David again in any capasity, so not being the lead dosent dampen my spirits that he is attached.

Fingers crossed. Toes crossed. Hands together in prayer & begging in general. That should cover it for now.
