How is it October already? How. We started the week off with those gorgeous UHQ|HQ pics from Jeff Reidel, Collectormania, GMEX and Empire Awards.  Shame I couldn’t crop the black and whites because although they were huge they quality was most definitely not UHQ.  I am however, ecstatic that this pic was UHQ because it’s one of my ultimate faves. Barefoot Rob does things to me. Oops I said that out loud didn’t I. LIFE: I knew we could count on Govinda’s in Sydney to screen this movie. They always play Rob’s films. Brilliant. A few more release dates have surfaced. Malaysia will get the film on 3 December 2015.  Spain seems to have moved their release forward by a week so that it’s now 20 not 27 November 2015. That’s good though. Japan is gearing up for their “Life” premiere during the Tokyo Film Festival. Not only have they posted their subtitled trailer, but they’ve now confirmed that the premiere with Anton in attendance will be 24 October 2015. Turkey is also screening the film during Filmekimi which translates I believe to Film October.  Oh and Guernsey is also making sure Rob’s fans get to see the film when they screen it from 24 November 2015. We were treated to that new interview from Berlinale by Kinowert. Some great insight into Rob’s mind during that one. We’ve updated the Life reviews because there are still great things being said about Rob’s performance. I love that the good far outweigh the bad. For Rob fans in the Netherlands, you have a chance to win a double pass to see “Life”when it opens on 8 October 2015 thanks to Movienewz. I also tweeted where Switzerland and Germany can see the film. Indonesia looks like they’re getting ready to unleash the film with Feat Pictures tweeting that BTS footage we’ve all seen. Feat Pics did tells us a few weeks ago that they would unleash in October. QUEEN OF THE DESERT: Italy isn’t supposed to get any screenings in 2015, but the Bozen Film Club is putting on three. Not sure how easy it is to get there but I’ve known people to fly interstate or catch a train to Paris from London to see a film. The premiere for Australia is happening during the British Film Festival which is being held by Palace Cinemas, another great supporter of indie films. We already knew about Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Byron, but now Adelaide and Perth get their dates. I expected Luna Palace (Perth) would eventually come to the party. Looks like the British Film Festival is where most of us will see Queen of the Desert.  Still no general Aussie theatrical release yet, but it’s coming I believe, but it won’t be in October as far as I can tell. I see that Russia is also gearing up for their release later this month by doing a book tie in.  RANDOM THINGS I TWEETED: ScreenDaily in its lead up to unleashing it’s Stars of Tomorrow tweeted one of my fave photos – Rob from 2005. Where the hell have the past 10 years gone. How great is David Gilligan’s story about taking that promo shot for How To Be. I love hearing the intricate details of how some photos take place – fitting really when you think about “Life” and how infamous those photos became.  I tweeted quite a few interviews from Anton Corbijn – Candid Magazine, VN and Luke Davies with The Guardian  and this gem from David Cronenberg.  IN OTHER NEWS:  Nick Osborne’s “Release” is finally available in paperback for those, like me, who are still old school when it comes to books.  Jules reminded us that Mr October is here and I have NO WORDS about her spectacular “Life” edit.  Cassian Elwes is raising money to help 2 female directors go to Sundance and tweeted about having Werner Herzog sign 5 pics of Rob and Nicole to auction off.  There’s was still some left last time I looked for those interested. And fittingly BFI (UK) was promoting The Rover which can be rented from them here  when they reminded us “Tarantino called David Michôd “the most uncompromising director of his generation”.  It’s still my opinion that David M got the best performance out of Rob, probably because as Rob has said in many interviews, the remoteness of the filming location allowed him to concentrate fully on his performance. Unfortunately it seems to me that that isn’t going to happen with Lost City of Z.  I’m trying to avoid the sneaky shots, so I’m signing off until next week and immersing myself in finishing The Martian – which incidentally is a surprisingly fantastic read (thanks Jules!).  Well if Rob’s going to write sci-fi I need to condition myself to start reading it.  See you next Sunday.

David definitely bought the best out in Rob. All the stars aligned for The Rover… because of DM.

Oh God. I hadn’t thought of that. Reading sci-fi. Ekk. There he goes again- broadening my horizons.

Congratulations Cowboys and Broncos. That was an epic Grand Final. The top of Oz will be going off tonight.
