Rob Being Compared to Robert De Niro?

I have to admit the only reason I’m posting this is because before Rob … De Niro was my obsession.  He is the epitome of what I believe an actor should be.  I mean who can forget what De Niro did in order to achieve his Oscar in Raging Bull.  Anyway I digress.  According to Julie Miller of Movie|Line  – here are some similarities to Rob and Bob in Cosmopolis/Taxi Driver:
· Both dramas feature the above still of their main characters pointing a gun to the upper left corner of the frame. (Obviously.)
· Both Cosmopolis and Taxi Driver chronicle the lives of two Manhattan-ites who spend the majority of their screen time driving around New York City in a car.
· Both films’ protagonists need a haircut. This is not just a tongue-in-cheek observation. Cosmopolis actually centers on a 28-year-old billionaire traversing the Big Apple in search of a haircut. Taxi Driver features a violent, insomniac Vietnam vet whose long hours, proclivity for seedy porn theaters and his depression keep him away from the barbershop.”
I have to disagree with the last one – De Niro’s character may end up with a mohawk (which he shaves himself) but I don’t recall the need for a haircut as the catalyst of why he’s driving around the city in a taxi. Â I do, however, like the fact that Julie did compare the two pics above. Â I need to watch Taxi Driver again – it’s been too long and he really should have won an Oscar for this (and Deer Hunter) … just my opinion.
Maybe  “my prostrate is assymetrical” will become this generation’s “you talking to me …”  … hmmm possibly not LOL.  In any event, I still like the fact that Rob’s in Bob’s company.

Exactly @lids – can’t wait until these people get my usual expression when someone says ‘oh wow he’s really good” – you know tilted head, eyebrow raise and told you so expression – have to say I’ve kind of perfected it.

@Maria – Great idea! Maybe we can have a Thow Back Post every now and again so we can all see Rob’s progression. Or in our case regression

That’s not the first time someone’s commented on Rob being similar to De Niro. Didn’t some reviewer seeing Cosmopolis say Rob’s spot-on New York accent sounded like a ‘young De Niro? I must go and dig that up. I’m sure I didn’t imagine it!
