FlickSided Talks Queen Of The Desert

Nothing new here really, BUT the mention of Rob’s role being ‘reportedly expanded’ YES that caught my eye & I hope that is indeed true 😀

From FlickSided:

Being shopped around at Cannes this week is a film about a fascinating girl — a commoner—who spoke seven languages, climbed the Alps, spied for the British Empire, rode camels to Babylon and wrote letters to Churchill, all before tea with Lawrence of Arabia, and often while wearing the latest haute couture from France. Every now and then, she made a king. You know, for something else to do.

Sound like a Mary Sue? True story, actually, about Gertrude Bell.

Queen of the Desert features Nicole Kidman as Bell (after Naomi Watts exited the project) and adds other gems to its cast, including James Franco and Damian Lewis. But when it’s released next year the U.S., it’s not likely many will be standing in line to see a queen of anything. No, they’ll be going to see Robert Pattinson.

Pattinson plays Colonel T.E. Lawrence, a.k.a. “Lawrence of Arabia”. But squealing Pattinson fans should remember the film is about Kidman’s character, not his. Still, his role reportedly had been expanded, just because he’s Rob Pattinson and producers hope to bank on that.

To his credit, Pattinson has said he wanted to work with the film’s director, Werner Herzog. Shunning anything resembling a typecast, the Twilight actor and heartthrob has been a workaholic this past year, in widely-varied roles, from gang member-criminal in The Rover, to a limousine driver in Map to the Stars. His schedule for 2015 doesn’t look any bit lighter.

The possibility that Rob’s role has been expanded to accommodate him is great news. Only because I am sure Werner Herzog wouldn’t just cash on on Rob’s fame if he didn’t believe Rob had the acting chops to carry the role further

Ha ha ha! “not likely many will be standing in line for a queen of anything” – that made me piss myself laughing. Oh, so true! I love the news that his role will be expanded – joy for us. I’m trying to imagine James Franco’s face at this news. ‘Scuse me while I go piss myself laughing more…!

*nods* @carmel – definitely like to think it was expanded for Rob due to more than bankability!

“His schedule for 2015 doesn’t look any bit lighter.” Go Rob Go!!!! 🙂

Thanks Michelle – great news indeed!
