Will ‘The Rover’ Help Robert Pattinson Get Past His ‘Twilight’ Image?
Rob has a “Twilight” image?  I jest, well sort of, but Michael Griffin of Hollywood.com has decided that maybe The Rover is going to be the movie that puts Rob on the “I’m a serious actor” map. Personally I thought David Cronenberg had already started to mark out that route for Rob, but if Michael wants David Michôd to get the credit for it then who am I to complain. Here’s some of what Michael had to say, but it’s clear Michael’s not really been privy to some of Rob’s non-Twilight movies:
“He looks nothing like anything we’ve seen him in before — his normally thick hair has been shaved nearly bald [Maria: Little Ashes anyone] and he sports a perpetual stubble. Also, his frame is gaunter, since his character probably lives day-by-day in terms of finding his next source of food [Maria: I thought that’s how he lived as Edward?] . He looks just very jagged and hard — though his trademark thick eyebrows are still present.
Watch Pattinson’s eyes in every scene he appears in the trailer. They’re constantly watchful, cautious, even almost feral. They show a survival instinct, where they have to take every bit of detail going on around them to make sure they don’t miss anything. Listen during the whole trailer… his character doesn’t speak once, except in an almost involuntary shout as he ducks behind a bed during a fusillade of gunfire. Another former cover boy, Guy Pearce, stars alongside him and looks like if he went another week without shaving, he’d resemble Tom Hanks in Cast Away. [Maria: Guy was a cover boy?]
One person who Pattinson could probably identify with is Brad Pitt … Pitt also decided he just wanted to be known as an actor, and not someone who relied on being easy on the eyes. This could be Pattinson’s Twelve Monkeys. if he succeeds … “
“If he succeeds” … I think Michôd, Herzog and Gray are enough proof for me that Rob’s already succeeded *shrugs*

I’m still laughing at the ‘trademark thick eyebrows’ WHAT???? hahahaha If The Rover helps these ‘journos’ and media peeps MOVE ON then I’m all for it and give him a fair chance. I agree totally with your comments Maria 🙂
The future is SO exciting. Bring it on.

This in my humble opinion is yet another case of lazy journalism. And can someone please explain to me wtf Robs eyebrows have to do with his acting!?
Trish
I’m sorry? He’s reviewing Rob’s performance from a trailer?!! Oh, go away you silly silly man. You probably just want people to read your irrelevant opinions by latching onto Rob’s name. Please, no one else click on this idiot’s site and thus give him credence.

I don’t really know how to take this article…..?????!!!!! Robert has proved alrerady how good he is!!!
Silvie
I thought Rob has proved over and over that he is a serious actor. How many times does he have to do this?

This article just wanted the Twi clicks. Hollywood.com would like us to think they are the first wave of people to have their eyes opened to Rob’s potential.
However I will give them credit highlighting the strong feeling of character Rob has created with Rey, without a word spoken.
Plus it did make me laugh to suggest we have never seen Rob with stubble.
