In the words of Big Kev (God rest his soul) “I’M EXCITED” and so is Crikey since it used the above pic and “The Rover” as it’s lead in movie.

The Rover

With a great script, great cast, great reviews and an Oscar nomination for our own Jacki Weaver, film journalist-cum-director David Michod’s 2010 feature debut Animal Kingdom plonked his name firmly on the list of filmmakers to keep your eyes on. Billed as “a dirty and dangerous near-future Western,” The Rover (pictured above, based on a story by Michod and Joel Edgerton) stars Guy Pearce and a bloodied looking Robert “Twilight” Pattinson, playing a man searching for a stolen car and an important object inside it.”

I’m choosing to ignore Luke’s description of Rob too, since I know that description should disappear this year.  After all you don’t see “Guy Neighbours Pearce”.  Yep, I’m choosing to focus instead on the fact that Michod knows how to cast his films.

Unfortunately, until Rob has a huge commercial hit with some other movie, the Twi thing will always be what the general population will identify with the most. Sad but true. I think most actors (male and female) get tagged with their most identifiable film role. It took quite a few years for Johnny Depp to shed the Jump Street tag, Leo DiCaprio for his ‘Titianic’ star tag – just the nature of the beast. So long as it doesn’t prejudice directors from hiring him for movies (and it doesn’t seem to be the case), it doesn’t rile me as much anymore. Rob has moved on – we all know it, and intelligent film-makers and film viewers know it too.
PS I love the current mood gif – that’s exactly how I feel thinking about the exciting year ahead for Rob!

The journalist that use that as a catch, show their ignorance. Luckily, the the people that matter are more enlightened to Rob’s talents.
