Hearing Jacob speak those words, my heart breaks. Everything he knew, the life he had is now gone. I love every single second of this beautiful movie, Rob’s performance as Jacob Jankowski is superb. Every piece of pain, grief & eventually happiness that he feels, is so beautifully conveyed by Rob. I cannot say enough how much I adore him.  For my choice, I just had to go with this beautiful scene, it touches my heart in exactly the same way to this day that it did the first time I saw the movie on the amazing & special night that was the Sydney WFE premiere. Jacob is so lost, nowhere to go, no family. The train comes along & Jacob takes a chance & jumps on it, not knowing that it is a circus train or that it will begin the next chapter of his life, give him a family again.  I love the emotion we feel from Rob in this scene, his expressions break my heart, his innocence, his grief, his desperation when he jumps on the train to his look of wonder, amazement, hope when he discovers what train he has stepped onto, the world he is now part of. The look of joy when he enters the menagerie & sees all those beautiful animals.   The words that he speaks in his voice over “I don’t know if I picked that train or that train picked me. but something told me my mother & my father sent it my way. I’d like to think that anyway” brings tears to my eyes each & every time. This right here, the circus, is the place that will become Jacob’s home, bring him happiness once more, a beautiful life with Marlena, a life that they both so truly deserve.  Jacob Jankowski I adore you, I adore this movie &  I cannot wait to spend the week with you. Enjoy everyone.

Such a special film to me, just like you guys. I haven’t watched it in awhile but I love the scenes when he’s connecting with Tai. Also his scenes with Christoph are favourites too. I’m going to LOVE this week!
