@totalfilm 50 Best Movies of 2012: Cosmopolis No. 37
As much as I love the fact that Total Film included Cosmopolis on their list of 50 Best Movies I want to point out one teeny tiny glaring error in their post. I do not know ONE Robert Pattinson fan who walked out of this film. Please do NOT bundle us in with possible Twihards that didn’t like it – I myself witnessed 2 girls around 18 walking out of the film during the Eric/Kendra scene – for the love of all that’s holy – I’m not sure HOW you could walk out during that scene, but it happened. So yeah thanks TotalFilm – you clearly wanted a reaction by saying that – so how could I not give you what you wanted:
“Cosmopolis
The Movie: The second of two David Cronenberg films released in the UK this year was a return to his weird roots, as Robert Pattinson is driven across riot-stricken Manhattan so he can have a haircut.
The sex, death and horrendous hand injuries were classic Cronenberg, but most people noticed only the endless talk, talk, talk…
Impact: Mass walkouts from disgruntled R-Pattz fans who didn’t want to see their hero having his prostrate examined.
And, alongside Holy Motors, a sudden surge in ‘guy in a limousine’ movies.”

I think the fact that they call him by that ridiculous name speaks volumes!!! No way I would have walked out given the opportunity to see it on the big screen but then maybe that is the difference right there!!!!,

It’s a rare critic who critiques a film, most just give their personal opinion. That aside, film, as with art, is the personal choice of the viewer and I stand by my right to make my own choices.. So give me whatever you can Rob, I have enjoyed everything you have done thus far, and so looking forward to the films you have coming up in 2013 – an eclectic mix. Thank you and thank you Maria for post. p.s. personally, I couldn’t get enough of the endless talk in Cosmopolis – there’s that opinion again – maybe i could get a job as a ‘critic’ – yah, yah, yah!! haha

love that gif Maria – thanks.

…..and it surprises me that someone who could not spell Rob’s name, could also not know the difference between prostrate and prostate…..NOT! I think they showed their uneducated hand just a little, and maybe, just maybe, missed the point entirely in the process.

“disgruntled R-Pattz fans” *rolls eyes* no real ROB fan would ever walk out of Cosmopolis nor call him that stupid name that he hates!. We LOVE & want to see him in every single brilliant piece of work that he does. Anyone that walked out of Cosmopolis is freakin’ crazy!!!
So true Val re: the difference between prostrate & prostate. I think he needs to learn the difference.

I saw Cosmopolis three times at the cinemas – only once did any one get up and leave, they came in late and were in the wrong cinema (of course they felt the need to tell us). Shame the critics spend so much time on trying to find negatives without really looking at the amazing talent that is before them 🙂 ps: Love the fave pic of the day also

They walked out during Eric/Kendra scene ??? It must have been mono

That’s what happens when people are illiterate, art wise and/or in general… So, so sad.
The talk, talk, talk thing is the most serious and precious essence of this film and it affects all of us. The famous 99%. As much as I sumpathize with Eric for searching his own “rosebud”, it would be a crime to forget all those millions of people, all around the world, who are in his totally ruined posistion, in the end of the film, their intire life or even recently broken.
What planet does this “critic” live on??? They’re intitled to their opinion, well, so am I!
As for that walking out at THAT scene… Should Rob film sex scenes only with you know who, or stop the rest of his career because of the Twihards? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!
Rob is much, much more than that. He must move on with whetever makes him complete, he owes it to himself and his true fans, who comprehend what art is all about.
Sorry, for the angry text, but I’ve had ENOUGH!!!
Love you girls XOXOXO
Sue
That gif is perfect, Maria.
