Rob the New Face of Christian Dior Men’s Fragrance *Update*
Ok I woke up in an alternate universe because I never imagined that I would be posting this considering Rob’s previous stance on selling himself. Contrary to no doubt popular opinion, I’m going to say this, please Rob, don’t let me wake up to you releasing a naked calendar.
According to E! Online Rob has signed a 3 year mega deal to be the face of a Dior men’s fragrance. As much as I love seeing your face Rob – I really have to say – I’m surprised as hell about this. Click here to read the news.
ETA: According to the The Hollywood Reporter, no contract has been signed yet.
But there is no fragrance contract. Not yet, at least.
The Dior international press office in Paris explained to The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday morning that the so-called “reports” were just rumors and that no contract has been signed. They had no further comments.
Calls to Pattinson’s camp went unanswered.
Perhaps EOnline released the news prematurely? We will keep you posted.

Manda
Im surprised also, never would have pictured Rob as a “face” of any brand, due to the same fact as you said Maria, he’s not one to sell himself. May have to get my husband to start using the fragrance in hopes he may turn into Rob! LOL
Maria
Lol @Manda
Manda
A girl can only dream right? 🙂
Maria
Hahaha that she can @Manda.
I’m wondering, given the previous faces of Dior, if it’s a premonition to Oscar nominations – I’m always looking for the silver lining and Law, Theron and Portman have all been nominated – last two winning. And Suze tells me Jennifer Lawrence has also signed as the face of Dior.
Maybe it’s an omen
Manda
Yep, just read that Jennifer Lawrence also signed @Maria, Maybe your premonitions might help Rob to a Oscar win hey? Fingers crossed.
Cindy
interesting……very interesting………
Michelle
I too thought I had entered an alternate universe. The news is really surprising. I did a double take when I saw it. Loving the silver lining Maria & Rob’s definitely in good company with the previous faces & Jennifer Lawrence.
Maria
@Michelle not to mention they make Fahrenheit – no irony intended there because we know how hot Rob is
Michelle
True Maria, very very true!
Vicky
To say I’m surprised is an understatement but I can just see all the husbands getting Dior cologne in their Christmas stockings LOL!!!!!!!!! Wow Rob, just…………. wow *scratches head*.
Sue
LOL @Vicky re Xmas sticking fillers for husbands! (our little secret).
Wow, this news totally surprised me too ~ I was actually waiting for the punch-line ……
Sue
ps. LOVE the new banner ~ GORGEOUS!
Sue
I’ve just clicked on Dior men’s fragrances and guess what one of them is called? “Jules” Oh, how fitting would THAT be?!
Maria
Lol well I just checked out Jude Law’s pics and sent this to the girls
http://www.glamourboysinc.com/2011/11/dior-homme-intense-fw-201112-ad.html
I don’t think we are going to survive Rob’s ad campaign if this is anything to go by
Michelle
*nods* Jude Law’s is HOT HOT HOT. Just imagine Rob’s!!!! You’re right Maria, we are so not going to survive this ad campaign!!
Suze
I forsee one sizzling hot ad campaign. It may do me in.
Sue
SWEET BABT JESUS ……
Vicky
OH. MY. GOD.
Ephie
Surprised???? I nearly fell off my chair when I read this!! I didn’t think Rob would do this at least not for a few years. Is E!Online really reliable?
Martha M
Is that link to the vid Jude made for Dior? I thought it was amazing. I saw it a bit ago.
OMG I hope Rob does the same.
Do you girls think that if I buy the fragrance, and spray it on one of my cut outs he’ll come to life like Pinocchio? Ha ha ha! OMG if only!
Absolutley loving the new banner.
Michelle
*giggles* @Martha, if only indeed!
Yep, the link is to Jude’s Dior vid & some pics. Just imagine Rob’s!!!!
Jules
Thanks for this, really interesting. I was surprised like you all but I am sure this was something considered carefully. This will surely be amazing for his ‘brand’ and power for the future. I am excited to see where this leads….I’m not sure I can think of a Dior ad campaign which hasn’t looked stunning. Look forward to the world seeing the man himself. Just can’t wait and Jen Lawrence the face for women? Oh yeah….this is all very interesting. Love your comment Maria re Oscar winners. 🙂
Jules
Ok LOL @Sue, forgot to mention….really?? There’s one called Jules???? I think I will squeee my butt off if he has to promote that. No lie. O.M. G. Hahahaha
Maria
LOL @Martha you always make me smile!
Maria
@Ephie for stuff like this yes I’d say it’s reliable. GossipCop would have denounced by now LOL.
Michelle
*giggles* love that there’s one called Jules.
Carmel
Wow! This is very surprising. I can see you guys warming to the idea after doing the… ummmm ….research on Jude with Dior.
I remember seeing George Clooney explain his coffee commercials when he was on ITAS – He said if doing a coffee ad allowed him the exposure and freedom to indulge in smaller projects that he loves, without him having to do the big studio movies , then he will not apologies for that. It is a means to an end.
So I am happy to look for that silver lining and if this is true , I am sure some of the smouldering Dior photos will end up being my favourites.
BTW – I am guessing there might have been a little squeeee from Martha when she read Jude’s name on RPAU.
Carmel
I would also like to give a shout out to any effected by Hurricane Sandy. Stay safe
Elaine
Ok Christmas present solved thank you @vicky but I think my hubby will be suspicious when he sees the ads 😉
Carmel
Just one more thing, sorry. AHHHHHHHHHH Look at the new banner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUPERMEGAFOXYAWESOMEHOT†!!!!!!!!!!!
Ephie
@carmel, thanks for posting George Clooney’s answer regarding the reasons for doing the nespresso ads. I’m sure Rob did not decide this lightly and I have no doubt that the end product will be stunning.
And thanks @maria for answering my query.
Vicky
Hahahahahaha, Carmel Tess would be soooo proud you got that in!!!!!!!!
Maria
@Carmel – not to mention Pacino doing Vittoria coffee and De Niro did American Express. I’ve got no issue with Rob doing it – I was surprised because he always said he never understood those that did. But hey – whatever gets him what he wants.
I’m not sure why people are questioning whether it’s true. It would have been debunked by now if it wasn’t.
Carmel
@ Maria – I’m with you re the surprise. It isn’t what Rob led us to expect, that is for sure.
And I am sorry about the implication about the truth of this. I was thinking after I submitted that I worded that badly. I know you guys are very careful about what you post.
Sare
Was surprised like the rest of you. I think it may mean Rob is feeling more comfortable in himself. He’s willingly putting himself out there. Good for him! Oh and if only the heavens would align and make your oscar theory come true Maria!
Maria
LOL no worries @Carmel. I know it’s like a shock to a lot of us – I thought at first we were being punk’d. But after the shock wore off we all realised how amazing and classy this whole campaign is going to be. The only other 2 fashion houses I would have been thrilled about would be either Gucci or Armani. And in all honesty – this is such a coup for Dior. Rob was born to be the face of a fashion house. Like we’ve said before – how was his modelling career NOT successful. Not to mention the best thing about this – a “3 year” deal.
Michelle
*nods* @Maria. The initial suprise/shock has now turned to excitement. Rob’s campaign is going to be so classy & fantastic. Am so looking forward to it.
Carmel
@Vicky – It had to be said. Better late than never
Trish
Rob is one smart cookie – like Carmel pointed out, no doubt Rob sees it as a means to enable him to work on projects that may not be considered ‘mainstream’ (read: not very profitable to investors). I don’t see it as selling himself – I’d rather he shared his beauty in this way than to prostitute himself doing stupid, mindless romcoms just to pay the bills. Like all Hollywood actors, he knows his shelf-life as a leading man is limited (age has a way of catching up with all of us, as well as having to rely on a fickle public), so to use this time while his star is blazing is an intelligent way to use what God gave him. And oh God, I can’t wait for those photoshoots in glossy magazines!
Carolyn
I literally gasped when I heard this news yesterday. The initial shock then turned to an ‘oooooh’ of excitement when I too (like many of you) thought, now I know what hubby’s Christmas present will be. A 3 year deal…so much beauty and class to look forward!
Maria
@Trish – Rob is the person who always made fun of people who “sold themselves” which is why we are all surprised. And I get that Clooney said that, but it doesn’t mean that’s why Rob is doing it. I’m sure we will find out eventually his reasoning behind it. It could just be it was an offer too good to refuse and a great way to distance himself from the Twi franchise. After all it’s a men’s fragrance that will undoubtedly be promoted in magazines like GQ, AnOther Man, Vogue, etc.
Carmel
@Maria – Good point about distancing himself from Twi.
Michelle
Yep exactly re: your comment Maria. The reason why we were surprised Trish is based on comments Rob has made about this sort of thing many times in the past, no other reason. Doesn’t mean we’re not looking forward to it because we are. Your point about this possibly being a great way to distance himself from Twi is a good one Maria. Anyways as you said, Rob will no doubt give insight at some stage into his decision to do this.
Maria
LOL @Michelle – well I recall he once said he thought people did it for the money.
Val
Goodness me, thanks for the Jude vid link Maria, as you are totally right – not going to survive when it’s Rob’s turn……..(and that would have to be one of my favourite Muse tracks……..wonder what music they’ll use for Rob, assuming they do a little movie like that?!) Looking forward to easy-access-glossies of very tasteful Rob 😀 I might have to go check out Dior fragances for Christmas stocking too, lol!
I’m sure Rob will be asked as many questions about this contract in interviews now as much as he gets asked repeatedly about other things not movie-related, so we’ll hear soon enough his reasons I guess, if he wants to share 😛
Sue
From shock, to excitement, to slight anxiety in 36 hours ~ only Rob could cause this! haha
I must admit, after36 hours of thinking about Rob in a Dior campaign, I think I’ll have a tinge of sadness if it doesn’t happen. Looks like I can change my mind too……
Maria
Looks like evidence that GossipCop picks and chooses what it wants to debunk – which confirms my response to them in 2009 when they asked us to promote them that they had their own agenda. At least we can thank Dior for that.
MichelleC
My emotions match yours Sue – now that I’ve had time to digest I would like really to see a Dior et Rob collaboration especially after seeing Jude Law’s work with Dior and Guy Ritchie – total class and very sexy. I really enjoyed Nicole/Baz/Chanel a few years back. It would be amazing to see a world class director work with Rob on a short story for Dior – that would be the only time I could see Rob signing on.
Maria
@MichelleC – good point about the director working with Rob and Dior – quite possibly a foot in the door for Rob to work with someone like that. Nicolas Winding Refn are you listening! You have already done a long commercial for Gucci *smilessweetly*
Trish
Thanks for enlightenment, girls! You girls know your stuff – I confess to not knowing all Rob’s ins and outs via previous interviews/articles. That’s what I like about this site – it’s not only entertaining, but educational too! Anyway. I happen to think some ad campaigns are a kind of art – just seen one recently involving Brad Pitt – hot hot hot! Rob’s (if the rumours are true) no doubt will be off the scale in terms of classy and sexy.
