At The Movies to Review Bel Ami – Take Two *Updated*

Does this feel like deja vu for anyone?  It should because guess what – ABC1’s TV Guide is claiming that Bel Ami is being reviewed At The Movies at 10.00 pm on Wednesday 23 May 2012.  This kind of makes sense since the film is being officially released on 24 May 2012.  And guess what – I’ll be able to tell you whether whatever David and Margaret say is true because I will have seen it by then!  I still admit I’m a little anxious since as I said last week sometimes Margaret loves Rob sometimes not so much.  Still *bitingnails*

Don’t worry I’ll check their twitter and website beforehand to confirm that it’s in fact true for Wednesday.

UPDATE:  According to ‘At The Movies’ website:

Fingers crossed for a good review. ( It’s funny what makes sensible grown women nervous!) At least it’s publicity for the movie …… thanks Jan & Maria.

OMG! I am so nervous. Be nice Margret and David.
I already tape this every week which is funny because I never go to the movies ( with the exception of Rob movies, naturally). I just enjoy watching these two
@Ephie – Good tip. I’ll download the App too just in case an earthquake swallows up my TV

just wondering if i am blind & missed it, or whether they really didn’t include Bel Ami in tonight’s reviews? 🙁

@Val none of the movies reviewed last night on ATM were the movies referred to in the program guide. I think the person who inserted that got the weeks mixed up. I hope it’s next week but who knows.

haha ~ I wasted a whole bunch of nervous energy last night! By 10pm next Wed, I will have seen it too ~ and I’m sure I’ll be on cloud nine and impervious to ANYONE else’s opinion! I just hope I can walk out of the cinema …….

@Ephie I cannot get anyone to tell me anything about screenings in Victoria. I for the life of me cannot figure out what the problem is with promoting this film – it’s like they want it to fail. Maybe they are going to claim it as a tax write off – who knows, but some of the things I’ve seen of ways to promote this film leave a lot to be desired.

I asked at Hoyt’s last night when tickets would go on sale for Bel Ami and can you believe I had to “spell” the name of the movie out for the young girl and then she was really disinterested in my questions. So not happy can’t believe release is next week and no tickets yet???? C’mon Victoria/Melbourne shame on them. Sorry just had to vent -to people who I know would understand 🙁

Totally feel your pain ephie 🙁 A lot of these people who work at cinemas are so uneducated in terms of films. I’ve had to spell movie titles too & the whole time you’re asking, they’re rude & disinterested. Hope the tickets go on sale for you soon. I have to travel about 3 hours to see Georges so my screenings are going to be limited sadly. I should be glad that I can see it in the same state I spose, still not good enough though 🙁

Completely agree Maria, the whole thing is just insane. Promotion is bizarre, very very bizarre – I don’t like it one bit.

Margaret and David must have been wondering why the ratings were so high for the show this week LOL But lets show them next week, how high they can get!

@Michelle, Ephie and Elane I feel your pain too no cinema within a hundred km of me is showing Bel Ami so I will have to go to Melbourne when as you say Elane and Ephie the tickets finally go on sale or god forbid wait for the DVD and how much does that suck????

For those of us in Melbourne, check out The Palace Cinemas in Westgarth, Como and Collins St. It seem they’re already selling Bel Ami tickets for next Thursday at 11.00 am only. But wait….I think it’s the Babes in Arms session!!! Hmmm, do I really want to see Georges with a bunch of babies? Heck I’d see him any way I could! 🙂

    Maria

    • May 18, 2012 at 1:28 pm

@Carolyn it is the babes in arms session hence why I didn’t post about it. I don’t know – personally I wouldn’t tolerate having it interrupted by screaming babies.

    Maria

    • May 18, 2012 at 1:29 pm

LOL @Carolyn someone on twitter did suggest it was their ploy to increase ratings … I don’t doubt that it worked.

    Carolyn

    • May 18, 2012 at 2:50 pm

@Maria Totally agree. It’s not the the ideal way of watching. I’m looking forward to getting rid of my own babes from my arms for the night (*I mean my children babysat) so I can watch it, I don’t want anyone else’s interrupting my viewing pleasure.

Thanks for the support guys. I know you feel our pain…I agree the promotion game is really bizarre…I don’t get it either. I’m hoping it will be shown at cinema Europa and there is one just 30mins away from me. I mean they recently showed a Swedish movie so I’m trying to be optimistic here…
Nope definitely no babes in arms session for me either!!!
