More Information About Portugal Cosmopolis Premiere
How exciting is this! Portugal Newspaper Correio da Manha, are reporting the following via Paulo Branco:

Guimarães – European Capital of Culture should be an unprecedented turnout on May 28, when the English actor Robert Pattinson, idol of millions of cinéfilas, attend the premiere of ‘Cosmopolis’, directed by David Cronenberg and produced by Paulo Branco, days after learning if they won the Palme d’Or in Cannes.
Major flooding will certainly be on May 29, in two sessions ‘Cosmopolis’ in Lisbon. One will take place at Centro Cultural de Belém, while the other is open to the public, so Pattinson (and other actors, including Paul Giamatti) will be with the fans. The ’embassy’ also includes the filmmaker David Cronenberg and writer Don DeLillo, whose novel is the basis of the film.
“I hope the fans are more civilized here,” said Paulo Branco to the CM, acknowledging that Pattinson’s stay in “Cannes is a concern,” since his last time in the French city the reactions were described as Beatles-like. (Poor Rob, that was CRAZY!! – Michelle)
In the film which opens in 30 theaters on 31 May, Pattinson plays a character very different from Vampire ‘Edward Cullen’, star of Twilight. This is the odyssey of a Manhattan mogul runs that plagued (although shooting has taken place in Toronto and not in New York) in his limousine.

Sweet lord I love this line “English actor Robert Pattinson”. Sometimes I think Hollywood forgets (and some fans) that he’s not home grown. And thank God we might be seeing the end of “Twilight actor Robert Pattinson” *goesofftodoajig*

Yes girls, and don’t forget Cannes is probably the most prestigious film festival out of all of them. What an honor for him and at such a young age so early in his career…I cannot express how proud and happy I am for him. I’m optimistic that his visit to Cannes this time will be properly and professionally managed simply because now they now what to expect – they’ve seen the tsunami that is Robert Pattinson and they will be prepared.
And I do hope that Rob will actually enjoy it and savor the experience. He deserves it all.

@Jules IKR – we’ve been sitting here all year patiently waiting for something epic and well – yep last 48 hours have surely proven that “patience is a virtue”.
Cannot wait to see what unfolds in Cannes for this film. I love that Cronenberg might finally get recognition with a Palme d’Or – that would be amazing. You just have to look at past winners – Scorcese (Taxi Driver), Tarantino (Pulp Fiction), Campion (The Piano) … I could go on. Anyway, fingers crossed that the film is received well for all involved not just Rob.
