Before anyone gets on here to comment and say “noone’s seen the film yet it’s ridiculous to assume Rob’s performance is Oscar worthy” – I’m NOT posting the article claiming Rob deserves an Oscar.  To be honest, I don’t think I’ve seen an Oscar performance from Rob yet (but then again I’ve seen some people win Oscars and wondered WTF – yes Paltrow and Kidman I’m looking as you).  Sorry I got sidetracked.   Anyway, I like the fact that Brad Brevet of Rope of Silicon has done two things.  Firstly, this comment:

“And how about Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis? It’s likely to hit the Cannes Film Festival and if it sticks and a distributor such as Weinstein or Fox Searchlight picks it up… look out. The days of sparkling vampires may be in Pattinson’s past by the end of 2012.”

And secondly, Rob may or may not give the performance of his life – who knows, but I am  happy that Brad has included Rob in his top 20 (or 21) predictions:

  1. Ben Affleck (Argo)
  2. Bradley Cooper (The Silver Linings Playbook)
  3. Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln)
  4. Leonardo DiCaprio (The Great Gatsby) *
  5. Clint Eastwood (Trouble With The Curve)
  6. Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained)
  7. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper)
  8. Ryan Gosling (Only God Forgives)
  9. Ryan Gosling (The Place Beyond The Pines)
  10. Tom Hardy (Lawless)
  11. John Hawkes (The Surrogate)
  12. Philip Seymour Hoffman (The Master)
  13. Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewlyn Davis)
  14. Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables)
  15. Tobey Maguire (The Great Gatsby)
  16. Bill Murray (Hyde Park on Hudson)
  17. Brad Pitt (Killing Them Softly)
  18. Robert Pattinson (Cosmopolis)
  19. Robert Redford (The Company You Keep)
  20. Terrence Stamp (Song for Marion)
  21. Denzel Washington (Flight)

* Could be considered (and most likely will be) a supporting role.

The fact that Rob is being mentioned in terms of Oscar is brilliant. Time will tell whether it’s Eric or some other roll that garners the Oscar but what a time we will have enjoying his work. Along the way!!!!!!

    LOL, Paltrow and Kidman, *nods*.

I just love reading positive comments about Rob and Rob’s films….especially coming from male critics. Rob so deserves the recognition of being such a wonderful actor. Can’t wait for Bel Ami and Cosmopolis. I watched Little Ashes again last night…..*sigh* just love this perfect sexy man:) Waiting for the Haunted Airman to arrive from the USA.
Thanks so much for all these wonderful posts, and beautiful pictures about Rob…they brighten my day:)
