OMG thankyou for these, you’ve made my week. I wish I could have been there. Dear god that lip bite and smile make me melt. Though poor Rob looks kinda tired.

@alex I’ll admit that it was great to see Rob in the flesh, but the red carpet experience – well to put it into perspective – think of cows being herded – it was not good. The people who only bothered to line up in the afternoon pretty much got more of Rob than the invited and paying guests.

The live feed into the State Theatre never happened, so we didn’t even get to see Rob being interviewed on the red carpet while we sat there for a long time waiting for them to introduce the film – major fail as far as I’m concerned. I’m not even going to bother saying anything else

I totally agree with Maria. It was utterly disgraceful how we were treated

Thanks @Rosaile was beginning to think I was a little bitter. At least I met James Tobin LOL

Oh Maria that really sucks! Not the seeing Rob in the flesh part,so you think no more red carpets for you? I read in your tweets you got manhadled? what he hell happened there? Pics are fab too by the way. 🙂

Rob’s security is very overbearing – and I’m not talking about Dean, but the ones Sydney organised. They are just lucky I didn’t end up on my arse because considering my recent surgery they would have been hearing from my lawyers. Wouldn’t have minded if I had been the culprit of their reaction, but I was just walking along and hence was surprised when I was pushed out of the way by them onto Lise-Lou – no really we were saying how amazing it was that we ended up still standing. They were just thugs.

yeah except for me @Vicky the experience was slightly bittersweet – I suppose now I know how Rob feels about filming that saga

this red carpet experience was awful. absolutely horrible. i’m still in shock. i was at the very end, and girls were crying. one teenie did not even get one picture. we were chased like a herd of sheep and they made us almost run past everybody.
and my friend was totally gutted about the introduction. he knew nothing about the movie, and they did not explain a thing, they were on stage for two minutes. lost opportunity to convince a fan boy.

    Maria

    • May 7, 2011 at 11:27 am

Yep @cat I have to agree with you – all of a sudden it became all about how much everybody was there to see Rob and not the film. We were lucky enough, so I thought, to be on the opposite side of the fans waiting for Rob to sign when he arrived. So we saw his car pull up Dean step out and then Rob – and then swoosh a crowd formed around him like a barrier and it was hard to see him even though he was only 10 feet away from us. We’ve got some pretty piss poor photos which we might upload at some time. Rob is treated like a puppet – I actually am a little disheartened at that glimpse of what his life is like on a red carpet. And as for making us sit in the theatre without the live feed or any explanation as to why the film hadn’t started at 7.30 pm – yeah well I’m embarrassed that I was involved with promoting something that was not what it was purported to be. I understand other cinemas saw the live feed.

    ITA ladies!
After all the warnings that it was a black tie event and that we had to be dressed up, they didn’t even check our tickets before we walked the red carpet. Ands them we were whisked down there so quickly and not even allowed to pause long enough to get a picture in focus.
When we entered the state theatre, my friends and I weren’t even allowed to pose for a photo in from of the movie poster “plenty of posters inside ladies” (yes, there were, but none you can get a picture in front of).
but Rob did look beautiful for the 2 second glimpse I got.
But you are might, the moral of the story appears to be not to pay for tickets but to cue up along the barricades instead.
I was also disappointed with the “introduction” but I enjoyed the movie and the experience purely because of how beautiful Rob was (even if it was only a passing glance)

lucky you. after seeing people cry in the hallway and the bathroom, i could not enjoy the movie at all. especially with a grumpy fan boy next to me who kept gushing about having paid that amount of money for just watching a film while he was expecting some interesting words from the director.

the securtity person appologized to us at 6.35 pm and said there was some drama going on, that’s why they were late, and that they are big stars, and noone had influence on it. the organisation was more than rediculous, but nobody would feel responsible about coplaints.
every country had more premiere time with the stars than we did. #fact

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:03 pm

And @liz I can tell you that those people who lined up – well when I walked down Pitt Street Mall at 1pm there was only about 100-200 people up the Market Street end – so I don’t know how the people opposite us at the entrance to King Street were lucky enough to get Rob as soon as he exited the car.

Oh and um yeah what happened to closing Market Street? Wonder if they made Rob, Reese and Christoph stand on the corner for the lights to change?

    Maria

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:08 pm

I think there were similar issues in Berlin @Cat. But in any event, I believe the issue was “traffic” – I thought it weird that they had each star turn up individually rather than just get one car for all of them to turn up together, but that’s just me.

One of my friends can’t help but wonder if the whole red carpet down Pitt Street Mall was purely a publicity exercise for all the new shops and renovations that have been done by Westfield – I understand that was some of the focus on the livestream that you could apparently see on the red carpet. But like you say we were shunted down so fast that I apparently walked right past Reese and was none the wiser.

I suppose we can be thankful at least that it wasn’t raining LOL.

I agree with all these comments. I was really disappointed with yesterday 🙁 It’s such a shame that us girls who paid such a large amount (for me anyway :S it was my birthday money and i only have $100 left to my name haha) only got to see rob as we were ushered past. It was very unfair that the fans along the carpet who paid nothing got the better experience.

The movie was brilliant! I absolutely adored it but it’s sad that we basically paid for just the movie.

Can’t complain too much though, we all still saw him in the flesh finally 😀

    Maria

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:14 pm

Yeah @Lauren it was bittersweet wasn’t it. When I was interviewed I was pretty much told not to mention a certain franchise, yet they seem to be the fans that got the Sydney experience – everything was arse up if you ask me.

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:26 pm

    @maria
in germany rob got out of the car twenty meters after the crowd started. but he did take pictures with some fans and sign tons. their movie introduction was longer.
a friend of mine who was standing in the crowd last night said they rushed him, he only signed a few things, the longest he was standing in one place was for the happy birthday song.

sorry to say that, but they could have skipped the first fifty meters of the carpet. nobody was there. i did not get the big deal about the size of the carpet anyways, unless there is another reason behind it.
the guard said they were scheduld to arrive 15 minutes apart from each other.
traffic can always be an issue, but common, it was as jammed just like always.

however, i’ll let it go now, but my will to support suffered a serious dent. good that we have a community to comfort each other.

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:33 pm

it went into spam for some reason – WP is being a pain today @Cat – I’ve just approved it.

Rob was totally rushed and manhandled – I was there to witness that since I was standing inside the red carpet at that entrance in front of the media registration desk with some of the Fox people. I’m not surprised that hardly anyone got to see him because there were so many media waiting to interview – hence why we didn’t even bother trying to get a press pass. How can you possibly compete with the likes of Richard Willkins et al. I mean you saw the posse of people they had around him and yet Reese … nothing.

And the fact that they didn’t stay for any of the screening, which is understandable after 6 premieres, you think we would have got a better intro – Reese kind of railroaded it in my opinion.

    Stephanie

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:34 pm

Agreed Maria. It wasn’t until we were sitting inside the theatre that I realized we hadn’t seen Reese as we were herded down the carpet! And then I’d forgotten about the live feed until you mentioned it! That’s a very poor effort!! Especially when we’d paid that much money for an “experience”!

I only ended up with one ok pic of each of them coz it was all so fast when they got there. Most of the Rob pics are of his back (although some of you might think that’s a good side too :P)

    Maria

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:40 pm

LOL @steph – yep I definitely got enough view of the back of Rob – I’ve got one as he’s just out of the car and then swoosh!!!!! Off he was shunted to the other side.

    cat

    • May 7, 2011 at 12:42 pm

i got a few good videos of him, that’s why we were in the last batch.
the tweet where somebody stated it was all media around him was so true though, you can see it in my vid.

but interesting to understand that peoples impressions are in line.
at first i thought it was just me, than the girls next to me confessed of being dissapointed too, afterwards in a fast food place more people expressed their dissappointment.
we recognized each other on the water bottles! LOL

I experienced the premiere from both perspectives. I took my teenager daughters and we waited near the beginning of the red carpet. Rob spent around 2 minutes with us signing everything we had and taking lots of photo with us. He was charming and seemed quite relaxed. Security was present but not obtrusive. Reese also spent a little with us. Further up the carpet I think time became an issue and Rob began getting rushed towards the theatre.

I then proceeded onto the red carpet. The experience could only be described as horrendous. We were man-handled and shoved the entire way by overly aggressive security. People around us were told by one particular gentleman that they would be removed if they didn’t move on when trying to take pics. I understand that the stars safety is paramount, but this was ridiculous. The intro was disappointing but the movie was fabulous.
Next event I think I’ll just stick to the fan side of the red carpet and see the movie without the hassle of black tie, cattle herding and rudeness of security staff.
    That said, Rob was gorgeous!!

    • May 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm

Ladies – I hear what you are saying and agree. The lucky people on the barricades got a better chance than we ticket holders did and we were made to feel anything but special. It was our night too and the security was rude. Those were not the conditions to wear a beautiful Black Tie type outfit. I know some people had their dresses ruined and they had gone to a lot of trouble. I feel for anyone who had any trouble. To hear you were knocked over is horrible @Maria.
Inside the theatre we had a good time and the mood was good around us but there was certainly disappointment with the lack of red carpet feed and the quick intro. Reece acknowledged Rob’s fans then Rob wasn’t able to properly do the same. No information about the movie was surprising. But nothing was ruining my high and I loved the movie. Jacob was everything I hoped for and more.

@Maria – don’t feel bad about promoting the experience. All the bad organisation, and there was a lot of that – from the timing of the Chicks at the Flicks tickets, to the Sunrise no-show, to the Red Carpet Cattle Call, were all things that that neither the lovely Rob or you wonderful ladies had any control over.
I would say that the powers to be should realise that is the fans that make their worlds turn, so a bit more respect at every level would have been appreciated.

However – I had a blast. I got a few reasonable shots of the lovely Mr Pattinson, and it was surreal to even get that close to him for the millisecond that I did. Rob just seems to have a light that we mere mortals lack. He was rushed but I think he did the best he could.
Meeting with so many of the lovely ladies from this community made the whole day so special and any other issues worth putting up with. You are all as lovely as I had expected and we even may have recruited some new RPAU followers – Are you there Coffs Lady?
I would do it all again if I had the chance, but I would be on the barricades.
    🙂 🙂

I just wanted to add Reese and Robert were very polite and seemed to get to almost all of the people at the front of the fences I think the only group he missed was mine but not his fault jut as previously discussed the security manhandling him by now he should know to say Shhh I am Rob let me see my fans as this is our only chance to see him here so far.
I am glad I didnt get my father to buy tickets now as we did see more and I got to chat and shake reeses hand as well as get an autograph from her which was great. The red carpet seemed slow because so many people who got their tickers were actually moving like sheep/cows grazing on the red grass carpet like we were there to see them I suggest just move on and go take a seat I am sorry you didnt get the value for your ticket thats not good but so many were just walking slow and looking at the crowd like haha im better than you and for those I am glad we got more time and quality from the night.
Even my dad earned some respect for Robert because of the effort he put in trying to get to everyone in the crowd and he is about as old as Reese.

Great Night Great Rob & Reese.

    Hi everyone,
yes, yes and yes; it was disappointing. When it was all over, my daughter and I looked at each other not understanding why we should feel so sad considering we’d just attended a movie premiere with Rob and Reece!
    How this could be?
Well, you have all pretty much answered that. Nothing glamourous for us ladies on that red carpet. Imposters; that’s how we felt, like somehow, we were not supposed to be here to start with … and maybe that’s part of the problem, I don’t know. Maybe there was no way to organise this properly … But it is clear it has been TRAUMATIC for everyone to have to walk pass Rob, as if, well somehow we had to pretend he was not even here! What were they thinking !!! We were not going to throw ourselves on him, scream or anything in the like! It would have made a big difference to have been given a couple of seconds to perhaps have time to take a correct picture- even the automatic setting wasn’t fast enough to zoom properly!
We stole a glimpse, and one single crappy shot before getting hurdled … no way either to take picture of ourselves at any stage. Only inside the theatre … no wonder we felt so sad afterwards …
BUT we did see him, and Reece, so i try to tell my daughter not to be too disappointed. The highlight for me is how good Rob is in the movie!! I know most of you didn’t need any convincing about Rob’s acting, but I confess I did. I too can now say he was absolutely brilliant, the character has so much depth, sweet and strong and everything in between. When Jacob laughs… do i need to explain?
    Beautiful, beautiful movie.
Maria I feel for you. You are our star here, along with the others fantastic ladies that have put together this AMAZING site: whenever we visit, we do walk the red carpet with Rob. With class.

@Maria, I totally agree with the Cattle Call comment. My dress is a state at the moment, and I felt like considering we’d all paid top dollar for these tickets, the the people who were standing at the barriers got a better deal than we did, and theres no guarantee that those people are even Rob Fans!

I did go for a walk around Circular Quay though, and I literally almost crashed into Dean going for a walk too. I stopped and talked to him for a bit, said Thank You for all that he did last night, that the film was sensational and we all had a good time – could he pass on our thanks. He seemed really pleased that wed all enjoyed it. (Incredibly softly spoken though, was a bit surprised)

Just got back to Brisbane – had an amazing 36 hours …. loved catching up with some of you and putting faces to names….. LOVED seeing Rob jump out of his car, but yeah, he definitely escaped down the red carpet too quickly….

I completely agree with all of the comments everyone’s making – I was really hoping that you’d get some kind of VIP treatment, Maria, considering you guys put so much time & effort into this website …… sounds like I was sadly mistaken…..

On the positive side, Rob looked like he had a great Sydney experience, looked gorgeous as ever and very relaxed….. I thought the Sydney Press Conference was pretty good ( I love it when Rob gets the press laughing!)…. the movie was superb …..

By the way, everyone should make sure they watch the Graham Norton videos and listen to the Hamish and Andy interviews ….. classic Rob!

Hopefully he’ll be back again soon and we can all catch a longer glimpse of him… and hear more of his divine voice….

Gotta go and pack for Europe, we leave tomorrow! I’m sure I’ll sleep all the way!

    Melissa

    • May 7, 2011 at 4:27 pm

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head Maria, we were treated very much like cattle.

I found the security to be terribly rough and threatening the further we got down the red carpet. I understand they have to protect Rob, but I think that considering the fact a bulk majority of the fans on the red carpet were teens and women, I think they could have treated everyone less like drunk blokes at a nightclub.

Me and Steph, were lucky in the spot we got, because Rob was right near us at one point, and I mean that was enough for me, because I was going in with the expectation I wouldn’t see him until he got on stage and that would be it, but to get within a metre of him was AMAZING to me, and the same for Reese too.

And can I just say the camera crew with James Tobin, should not have hovered over Rob the way they did, not only did it block everyone from seeing him behind the barricades and anywhere else, but they didn’t even give Rob a chance to breathe! (I think to be honest I have more photos of the back of the camera guy with James Tobin then of Rob…)

Oh girls, I am so sorry to hear that you had such a disappointing time 🙁

@Maria, I could not believe it when you said you were ” manhandled “, but then again that proves that the security here are just thugs in uniform.

    Vicky

    • May 7, 2011 at 4:54 pm

Carmel ITA!!!! The only thing I would do differently is go on the barricades instead of walking the carpet. Meeting everyone was just the best and I hope to stay in contact with you all.

    OMG Caro that’s so exciting!!!

When I’ve calmed down a bit I think I’ll let Fox know just how I felt about the way it was all handled. When i can put it into words. I think Sunrise might be contacted too!!!

    Maria

    • May 7, 2011 at 6:29 pm

@Caro very lucky! I was just about to tap Dean on the shoulder at one stage, but yeah … same old same old LOL

@Vicky – you should let them know, but I understand about sitting on it a bit – I’m doing the same thing.

I have to reiterate in all my comments that this has nothing to do with being disappointed by Rob. He wasn’t the event company that was in charge of last night. I feel for him though because even the treatment of Rob to a large extent was horrendous – I mean – protecting him from crazies is one thing, but a lot of them were on the other side of the barriers that they were pandering too.

Oh and I just saw Seven News report about the premiere – yeah funny how you only focused on the teens at the premiere but didn’t actually ask anyone older than 16 what they thought of the experience – funny when I looked around I was definitely not surrounded by teenagers.

    And the propaganda continues …

    Vicky

    • May 7, 2011 at 6:50 pm

Maria, never for one moment would anyone think you were disappointed IN Rob, FOR Rob yes but never IN Rob!!!

    Rememberwhen

    • May 7, 2011 at 6:54 pm

I too was at the premiere last night for the red carpet dash. Fortunately my dress made it through intact, however my bank account was considerably lighter for the privilege of seeing…….nothing except the back of Rob when he arrived.

From the moment of arriving at the ‘drop zone’ and then waiting for 45mins without any explanation except for “we are waiting” um, yeah no kidding? To then being virtually pushed down the carpet and was informed when I took my seat that I had indeed passed Rob & Reese on the carpet and no they weren’t inside ahead of me.
When my backside was planted in my seat I looked up expecting to see the live feed…..no, that didn’t happen.

I too felt that something more could have been shared about the movie during the intro. What a lost opportunity, instead we got what? a few words from Reese and a mumble from Rob before they hoofed it off stage. I understand that after 6 premiere’s that it would be rather tiring, but please just humour us a little since we were paying for the privilege, after all it is the fans who’s chatter will ultimately generate the movie ticket sales when it opens.

I too will just give up a half day to snag a place on the barrier for any future premiere. Disappointing.

However, I enjoyed getting dressed up. I thought it was lovely to see the women dressed in evening wear, a real throw back to days past when people cared how they presented for an evening out.

Loved the movie, but I would have to say that I felt Rob may have had a little more chemistry for Rosie than for Reese. The way his eyes sparkled when he interacted with her….it wasn’t just acting.

Maria, you did a great job. At the end of the day you can only work with what you are given. Take heart and I’m glad you weren’t hurt.

    Rant over 🙂

PS. I am thankful for Rob & Reese coming to Australia.

    Happy Mothers’ Day!

Really @Lauren – you seem annoyed that people looked at you from the red carpet that they were better than you – yet you come on to RPAU gloating and pretty much doing what you complained about – kind of ironic isn’t it?

I wasnt happy with the whole red carpet treatment from security and i wont do that again, but on the bright side i did see Rob and he is like wow-wipeout in person, even tho it was only a glimpse and the back of him most times.I enjoyed the movie but the red carpet did put a dampner on the whole night. It was a real pleasure to meet the girls,That was one highlight, you were all so friendly and NICE.Thank you ladies. I cant wait to see the movie again, hopefully tomorrow .i need to see it in a better frame of mind. i just missed out on seeing him at airport today.I couldnt leave my bags unattended,Oh well wasnt meant to be,so close but yet so far

Well, 24 hours have past ankd now I can say it was a great experience.
It would have been a better decision to just be at the barricades, but then I wouldn’t have had all the fun of dressing up.
I was not disappointed by Rob in anyway.
I thought I already understood how beautiful he was.
    I was wrong.
    There are no words.

And now that I have taken a deep breath, I can see (for me) that it really was a wonderful experience and one that I am very grateful to all of you ladies (ESP. You miss @Maria) for making me aware of it.
