ET’s WFE Interview with Rob & Reese (Updated Again)

Click on the photo above to go to ET‘s interview.  I haven’t had a chance to watch so anyone tell me if there’s an issue with it.  I’ll upload a YouTube version as soon as I find a clear one.  In the meantime, here’s Lisa Hirsch’s article accompanying the interview.

“Exclusive: Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson share a smooch and more in the upcoming ‘Water for Elephants,’ and the onscreen lovebirds are talking about their forbidden movie romance with ET! They also share a nugget of obscure movie trivia — they were once cast in a film as mother and son!  [Maria: It’s only obscure to you Lisa because you clearly know nothing about Rob outside of Twilight.]

In ‘Water for Elephants,’ Reese plays the married star performer in a circus who catches the attention of a bachelor animal caretaker, played by ‘Twilight’ star Rob. When ET visited the Los Angeles set during production on the film last summer, Reese rode atop an enormous elephant for a scene involving an elaborate 1930s parade.

Reese gushed about sharing love scenes with Rob, proclaiming, “I am so lucky. He’s so amazing and wonderful and sweet and just the nicest guy too, so you can just add that to the soup. I mean, he’s just so good looking and he’s a really nice person.”

Rob said the pair hadn’t yet shot their love scenes, but shared, “Reese has only got two days [of work] left [on the film]. So … they must expect me to be very professional about it.” He also gave a tidbit about one love scene — he says it ends with his character getting beaten up!

“We’ll probably just laugh the whole time, because all we do is just laugh and joke around,” Reese predicted of filming the scenes.

Although Reese and Rob are an onscreen couple in ‘Water for Elephants,’ they had a very different movie relationship when they filmed 2004’s ‘Vanity Fair’ — mother and son! Despite Reese being only ten years older then Rob, he was cast as her son, though his scenes later landed on the cutting room floor.

Reese recalls of meeting Rob back then, “He was walking down this corridor and I turned to the director, and I said, ‘That’s my son? He’s so good looking!’ I was like, ‘He’s so hot!'”

For his part, Rob remembers, “Even then, I realized on the set, I was like, I look too old to be playing her son. I mean, that’s probably why I was cut.”

Based on the best-selling novel by Sara Gruen, ‘Water for Elephants’ follows an elderly man (Hal Holbrook) reminiscing about his days working as an animal caretaker at a circus. A young veterinary school student (Robert) witnessing the beauty and brutality of life under the big top, he falls for Marlena (Reese), the captivating star performer, and suffers the wrath of her charismatic but dangerous husband, August (‘Inglourious Basterds’ Oscar winner Christoph Waltz).

‘Water for Elephants’ will debut in theaters on April 15, 2011.

    Maria

    • February 17, 2011 at 11:10 am

LOL @Cindy the only change in Rob’s voice during the saga movies is when it goes up an octave when someone tries to tell him they may write more to drag them out. Hahaha – yes Rob I agree with you – you cannot get away with playing a 17 yo any more. Thanks for letting me know Cindy 😀

    Martha M

    • February 17, 2011 at 11:56 am

Oh that sucks. It’s been a very long day here too. This weather is so crazy. We have a nice warm sunny day, then the next day it’s raining and cold. Not that I mind cold I prefer it to the heat. But very gray and gloomy today. Soon Maria…soon.

    Maria

    • February 17, 2011 at 11:57 am

What @Martha M … you don’t like the cold and the rain? hahahaha

    caro

    • February 17, 2011 at 12:20 pm

    Maria, I love you 😀

(by the way Martha and Maria, I went to see Burlesque – dont waste your time and money, its appalling)

    Maria

    • February 17, 2011 at 12:25 pm

thanks @Caro and for the heads up although I wasn’t even planning to see Burlesque – I hate musicals – the only musical I will see is BD2 😀

    Martha M

    • February 17, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Oh Maria I hope you’ve seen it already. OMG!!! He’s so, so cute, so sweet *squeeeel*, so adorable. God how I wish there was new words to describe him, none of these words do him justice. He’s HERMOSO!!! Thank you so much for posting. If you haven’t seen it, It’s totally worth your wait.

I don’t mind the cold, but I don’t like the rain or the grayness.

    Martha M

    • February 17, 2011 at 1:59 pm

Caro thank you for the info. I won’t be going to see it. I don’t mind musicals too much, but they’re not my favorite. Do you girls know if “The Boat That Rocked” is the same as “Pirate Radio”? I went on Amazon to order it and it came up as Pirate Radio. Just want to make sure it’s the same movie.

    Martha M

    • February 17, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Oh @Michelle like I told Maria it’ll be worth your waiting. You’ll be jumping and smiling from ear to ear. So, so adorable.

    Maria

    • February 17, 2011 at 2:08 pm

    @Martha M 🙁 no I haven’t seen it yet – it probably won’t happen until I get home.

    Martha M

    • February 17, 2011 at 2:09 pm

OMG,OMG AHHHHH!!! He’s on my TV now.*jumping, clapping, screaming* That laugh it is the best in the world. Oh girls I can’t wait for all of you to see this interview.

    Maria

    • February 17, 2011 at 2:09 pm

    @Martha M – I’m pretty sure that’s right – but I have to admit I’m not a TomStu afficionado

    Vicky

    • February 17, 2011 at 2:09 pm

That is the one Martha. I can never understand why they have to change the name for different countries. It gets very confusing sometimes!!

    Martha M

    • February 17, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Yeah @Vicky I don’t understand either it sure is very confusing. Like The Dark Kingdom, the Dragon King, it has about 3 or 4 names. I don’t get it. Thanks @Maria for letting me know. You & Michelle made curious about the movie, and it’s pretty cheap. Is Philip Seymour Hoffmnan in it?

    caro

    • February 17, 2011 at 2:25 pm

@Martha M, yes he is, along with a lot of other will-known actors. This was my favourite film for YEARS, as I know Rhys Darby and it was his first feature film. You’ll love it, its fantastic.

    Karyn

    • February 17, 2011 at 3:30 pm

Aw, he’s so sweet. Love the opinions these two have of each other, so much admiration on both sides, seems like they’ve had a lot of fun.

    lids

    • February 17, 2011 at 3:37 pm

Oh, so so sweet. Rob is gorgeous as ever…van not wait for the movie.
@Sare, hope you have a quick recovery, my husband just had it done too.

    Maria

    • February 17, 2011 at 4:23 pm

Ok I’ve watched and listened to both now. Sorry the first one is out of sync but hey – you still hear and see him really well. Rob’s just so adorable isn’t he. Preaching to the converted I know.

I’ll do those caps tonite like I promised yesterday – just the footage wasn’t as clear as these two and I didn’t want to compromise.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I hurt it playing netball over a year ago. Way to go nsw public health system! lol Just wish my two kids understood NOT to jump all over me! Rob is definately easing the pain.
Have to say again that rob dancing makes me all giddy. So so cute!

    Martha M

    • February 17, 2011 at 5:40 pm
