Golden Years: That’s Exactly Where My Bed Was, But It Was Over There & It Was Different

I like, Vertigo and Michelle, have so many fave moments from How To Be that it was a really tough choice narrowing it down to just one.  I decided to go with the scene where Art is asked to find happy or unhappy memories in his house and then goes back to his childhood bedroom.  I just can’t put into words the emotions that Rob evoked when I first saw this scene.  It was so heartwrenching when he asks the little boy what kind of vibes did he get from the room and then I couldn’t help but smile when he says “That’s exactly where my bed was, but it was over there and it was different”.  I love how Art sees the world and what I wouldn’t give for him to burst through my room, lie down on the bed and pull the doona cover over   – oops yep I said that out loud LOL Oh God and how could I forget the scene in the  kitchen.  There are just too many priceless moments in this film – Rob you and Art are GOLD!

Thank you Maria. Like I said before I love this character. He plays it so well. So Innocent, child like. You just want to take him in your arms and tell him you love him and that everything’s going to be okay. So cute, so adorable. *sigh* How I wish I could do exactly that.

LOL ‘that’s exactly where my bed was, but it was over there & it was different’ One of my most fave Art lines – absolute gold. I just ADORE this scene. Each time I watch HTB I want to hug Art & tell him that he is so very special & important & especially scenes like this where he’s so sad. Rob plays this character just absolutely perfectly. I have watched the film many many times & each time I watch it just gets better & better. Seems impossible to love Art any more than I already do, but yet it happens. He is just too adorable & sweet for words. Thanks so much for sharing Maria.

I absolutely love this scene!! Art is one of those people you feel the urge to be protective of. Such a brilliant character played by an equally brilliant (in every way) man!!! Thanks Maria.

I agree @Vicky – and Rob’s whiney voice as Art – anyone else and I would just want to slap them, but Rob doesn’t have that effect on me – I could even listen to THAT voice all day.

ITA with everyone and am still trying to figure a way to get to the other side of my screen and smother him with squishy hugs. Love your scene choice Maria – can’t wipe the smile off my face. Art is so precious …

It’s true! I see Art’s whiney voice as justified because everyone around him is so wrong on so many levels. lol

I agree Vertigo, all the people around Art are so mean. I want to slap them all & take Art home & look after him properly.

haha…. yes “properly” Art need many hugs, lots of kisses, someone holding his hands…. Rob make it brilliant, he disappear, and Art take all the place, with all his feelings, sadness and loneliness…I want to comfort him, to encourage the child inside him…
Thanks Maria for your choice.. I love Art…
