Rob I know you might have been nervous about the success of RM, but you shouldn’t have been.  It’s had a short run in Australia – 3-4 weeks and you might be hardpressed looking for a screening but I think overall it did okay here. There has been a few reports at AltFilmGuide in the last few days that international box office for RM was USD10.5 million (as at 28 March).  It states:

“After being greeted by mixed-to-negative reviews, Remember Me has earned a total of $17.7 million in the United States/Canada up to April 1. Its worldwide cume currently stands at about $28.2 million — actually more than that; as stated above, international figures are one week behind.

To date, Remember Me’s top international markets have been Russia* with $3.159 million, Brazil with $1.476 million, Italy with $1.043 million, Australia with $916K (March 21), and Germany with $843K. Apparently, Robert Pattinson has a large following in those countries. (my emphasis – um there’s no apparently in that statement, he does have a large following in Australia *shakes head*)

Next in line are Greece (423K), Sweden ($405K), Poland ($333K), Mexico ($270K), Portugal ($229K), and New Zealand/Fiji ($216K).”

As you know, those Australian figures are seriously outdated.  I’m not sure how I managed to find more updated figures last week and Michelle Hutton couldn’t do it as at 3 April 2010 so perhaps I should send her a link to my post?  That might clear up two anomalies in her review.  In any event, for those interested, the current Australian box office results are AUD1,348,428 (urban cinefile) that’s USD1,239,120.  It’s only up by about AUD100,000 in the last week so I’m not surprised we won’t be seeing RM in too many cinemas starting 7 April.

Today, however, Michelle Hutton is now saying:

“About ten days ago or so, it seemed that Remember Me might be able to reach $20-22 million at the US/Canada box office. Now I find it unlikely that Pattinson’s film will even get to $20 million before it ends its run, as it’ll probably be shedding hundreds more theaters next weekend. It may cume at $19 million. We’ll see.

At least Remember Me is doing better overseas, undoubtedly because of Robert Pattinson’s box-office appeal. It’s no major blockbuster, mind you, but foreign box-office revenues have already nearly surpassed those in North America.

Overseas total to date: $17.2 million. A week ago, the international box office total hovered around $10.5 million. Worldwide total to date: $35.4 million.”

Good backpedalling Michelle – if you want to read Michelle Hutton’s full articles, please click on the hyperlinks above.  The UK figures still haven’t been posted so I’m interested to see what they will be and will update this post once I find out.  Oh and to end on an even better note, Rob’s back up to no. 2 on IMDb’s Starmeter – well I’m always happy to see him in top 5 since he slipped out of top ten last week – hmm I didn’t want to let you all worry *winks*.

Thanks for being so thorough Maria. I’m also looking forward to seeing the impact the UK plays on those figures.

    Nice work Rob.

See, we told them. If it had only gone in a few more theatres or run a bit longer, I reckon it would have really shut the naysayers up. Surely that must prove Rob’s pulling power now? DVD sales will be interesting. I reckon I’ll have to buy ten to make up for not seeing the big screen version!

Just about finished Bel Ami. Cannot WAIT to see this one. Wow!

Thanks so much as always Maria for your great updates. Look forward to seeing the UK figures. So exciting they can now see this brilliant film. Cannot wait for it to be released on DVD so we can watch over & over. Am still so annoyed that my cinema & yours too Robbie never screened RM. All I can say is they missed out on being a part of something very very special. Idiots – really annoys me that they didn’t give RM the attention & treatment that it so truly deserved. I will definitely be buying many copies of the DVD too 😀

Rob number 2 on the IMDb starmeter 😀 Always love to see him at the top – exactly where he belongs.

When I went on Saturday at 12.30 there were about 30 people in the cinema.. hardly packed 🙁 – was really disappointed in the promotional side, not one picture advertising it!!
