Remember Me: Have U Seen It? How Many Times? If Not Why Not?
Well I’ve just seen Remember Me for the second time and yes I’ve taken off my rose coloured glasses and guess what - Rob’s performance is still absa-freakin-lutely brilliant! Anyway, my reason for this post is to purely find out:
*Â have you seen it?
* are you going to see it and if so, how many times?
*if you aren’t going to see it – why not?
Don’t worry if you think I’m going to berate you if you aren’t going to see it – I’m not – unless of course you give me some inane reason – then you might just have to risk it. I’m just curious since there were 4 people in the session before me and 1 other person in mine – yes it was like a private screening. I understand there are loads of cinemas screening it, but why why weren’t there more people there. I overheard the other person as she was leaving telling someone on the phone that she had just seen it and in response to their obvious question of what it was like – she said “it was awesome”. Now I don’t think she was a diehard Rob fan since I’m pretty sure she referred to him as Rob Patterson and then when the other person had no idea who that was *shudders* she said – you know the guy from Twilight *shudders again*. I understand the campaign that has been launched in the States about Remember Me Saturday and I was berated about a week ago that we weren’t doing enough on the site to promote this, but clearly you are all Rob fans on here and I know you will do your bit – right? I kind of felt it a little insulting to Rob that we were pre-empting that this film might fail. I don’t think anyone can really say that Michelle and I don’t promote Rob’s career – it’s not like we talk about much else.   So, if you aren’t a fan of Rob why would you even be visiting our site? Anyway I wasn’t sure what she wanted me to do other than stand on a street corner with a sandwich board hauling people in, but I didn’t think that was really an option. No wait – it’s not an option.
So I’m just curious now on what people are thinking. I understand and I really don’t expect this film to have an opening weekend like New Moon (AUD16m) and to be honest neither is anyone associated with the film, but it would be great to see it get the recognition it deserves because I know I harp on about Rob, but the entire cast and crew need to be applauded for this movie. To quote the girl at the Ritz today “it IS awesome”. Oh and if you are going to comment please please don’t include any spoilers – our UK followers and some US followers still haven’t seen the film. Let’s be fair to them – please.

Saw on the 11th and LOVED it! I went with a workmate. I can echo your statements about the cinema – where the fuck was everyone?? We had 3 other people in the cinema and we joked about them having the hotts for Pierce Brosnan coz they had the whole blue rinse and zimmer frame thing going.
I will definetely be seeing it again and buying the DVD. Yes Rob induces Niagara Knickers for us in this movie, but more than that: the story, the acting, the actors, what a fucking great flick! Its def a film families, hubbies and grannies can see too.
I’m pissy at people who say it’s exploitative – it’s NOT. Remember Me HONOURS the subject. And it was an honour to see Rob at his finest so far. Proud of ya Rob!
Lids
I’ve ssen it last night, once so far.
It’s an awesome film and left me breathless and speachless. I left the cinemas and while driving home my emotions were running pretty high. This morning when I woke up, I still was thinking about it. T
I was expecting a good movie but Remember Me actualy exceeded all my expectations.
I recommend everyone see RM, and will for sure see it more times and also get the DVD.
My verdict: 10/10 – and that’s not being biased.
Sonya
Hi @Maria. As you probably already know I went on Wednesday with my hubby and sister. I would love to go again but it’s a little hard for me hubby works 7 days and I have a little boy (2 year old). The other thing is we only have 1 car which hubby takes to work and financially it’s difficult at the moment with a huge mortgage and the rest that comes with it and only 1 1/2 wages to cover it. So I can’t have everything I want. It sucks I know. i think for me it’s always better when I watch it the second time around but I will have to wait. I can’t understand why people are not going to see it. It’s a beautiful film. Rob is outstanding in this role. The relationship between Ruby and him is my favorite. He brings so many different things in this movie. People are missing out. What’s wrong with Australians. Were are all the twi fans u would think they would be lining up to see him. Come on Rob fan go and support him you won’t be disappointed it’s a great movie. After all it’s Rob.
Willow
I’ve seen RM once so far but intend to see it lots more at the cinema – Tuesday night neighbour as a girls date night, then again with my sister, then with my son. Need I say I shall go alone too and buy the dvd of course.
At the screening we went to Thursday there were about a dozen there. I too found it very strange that there weren’t loads of people there. From what I could tell from the reactions of those who were there, they were very into it because of the ‘noises’ I could hear from them as the movie drew to its conclusion.
I loved RM. Rob was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the cast too. I admit I too am wondering where all the ‘screaming’ Rob fans who dog his every move are right now. All I can say is they are missing out on a film that moved me to my soul.
Michelle
I just cannot understand, cannot even begin to comprehend why there aren’t more people attending the screenings of RM. It just makes no sense to me whatsoever – leaves me speechless. This movie is brilliant, Rob is brilliant, the whole cast & crew have done an amazing job with this film & no I am not biased, I am just stating the true facts. I really look forward to hearing from you all & if there are any people that are thinking of giving this film a miss, I’d really like to know your reasons. Please do share with us. I have unfortunately only been able to see the film once due to my cinema not having the brains to screen it (clearly absolute morons) Believe me if the nearest cinema to me was closer than 2 hours away I would be there every chance I could. I will however be making the trip again in the next couple of weeks because I cannot bare to only see this amazing film once on the big screen & of course want to do my part as a true Rob fan to support him. Everyone NEEDS to see this film, believe me you will never ever ever regret it. I have truly never been so moved by a film in my life ever – cannot put into words how much this story moved me. Rob deserves every single bit of our support – stating the obvious I know but sometimes the obvious needs to be said.
Sare
in 3 hours…… 😀
Michelle
So exciting Sare – you will LOVE it 😀
Lids
My fried and I saw the movie, there was 6 other people there, 2 older couples and 1 girl in her 20’s and one guy in his 30’s
I think why a lot of the Twi fans are not seing the movie, is because they are not fans of Rob, they are fans of Edward. Also other people are not seing the movie, because they are associating Rob with Edward, and think that the movie is not worth seing.
Adding to that is the fact that the movie was not promoted as a big blockbuster (which it’s not), but if you’re not a Rob fan you probably wouldn’t know about it.
I was blown away by the movie, that’s all I have to say – for now 😉
Sare
but Im going to be pre-emptive i give it a 10/10. Can not wait!!!! Oh and i got a friend to come along too. Another one who will be converted Im sure 🙂
Lids
Oh Sare, I can’t believe it, did we change grav’s at the same time again?
Do you know I was actualy actualy thinking to use the one you did?
Lucky I didn’t, we must have the same taste hahaha.
You’ll love the movie, enjoy!!!
Maria
The so-called twifans are called that for a reason because a true Rob appreciator never calls themselves a Twifan. You see what a twi fan is in love with is a fictitious character called Edward Cullen and NOT a real life man called Robert Pattinson. There I said it – wait I think I have been saying it for a very long time. Of course there is always a bonus to the twifans not supporting him and that is that you can actually appreciate his movies without the squealing that happens whenever he’s on screen. OMG imagine if that was to happen during RM – you would hear no dialogue whatsoever which is pivotal to this film. I’m happy to say no “twifans” at either of the screenings I went to. What infuriates me though is that the media for some reason seem to think that Rob’s success is solely based on these people. Well media – guess what – Rob Pattinson actually has Rob Pattinson fans and now I’m going to have to put on my thinking cap of how we are going to get this out there. There is no need to preach to the converted. We all know that we should take friends and family who aren’t “educated in the talents of Rob” – I know my sister and nieces are roped in for next Saturday. Hmm all of a sudden that sandwich board is looking like an option.
Oh and for the people who have responded so far – thanks very much – it is appreciated – see I can be nice 😀
Sare
haha thanks @Lids Im pretty sure I’ll enjoy it.
If your taste is rob, then yes we do have the same taste LOL!
Maria
@Sare – after you’ve seen it can you come on and let us know what you thought and more importantly what the “new convert” thinks? I want to keep this thread open for active discussion. Oh I actually saw it with two friends of mine on Wednesday night who are not Rob fans. Well actually that’s kind of a lie because one of them came to the Little Ashes screening that we were involved in and totally loved him in that role – hence why she was a willing participant in Remember Me. She emailed me the next day and said she couldn’t stop thinking about the film and that she had told everyone she worked with that they must see it. See this is what we need to do – to have a silent but steady Rob Pattinson Movement. I think slow and steady wins the race. No point harping on because after all we don’t want people to confuse us with “twifans”.
lise-lou
Well will try and keep this short but am on such a high and as always I have so much to say!
I have seen it twice and am going again tomorrow (cos I am greedy like that!). The Thursday morning screening had 12 people but that’s often norm for morning movie sessions. Last night there was 50 so a little better. The reason behind the low numbers is the complete lack of promotion. I have seen absolutely nothing outside of the web promoting this film no TV trailers, no reviews and not one single poster at Hoyts cineams promoting it! I have taken 4 friends to see it (one of them came twice bless her) but the only reason they knew of it was because I haven’t shut up about it! I also think the trailers don’t give a very good respresentation of the film as there is certainly a whole lot more going on that what they have portrayed. It really is a movie that has you thinking about long after you have seen it and will have an impact on your life.
I absolutely adore this movie and Rob is just incredible in it as are Pierce, Ruby, Chris, Emilie and Tate who just cracks me up so much as Aiden.
I know I am biased when it comes to Rob but he really is amazing and I seriously didn’t think I could love and admire him anymore than I do but his performance in the this has just blown me away!
My friends however…..well lets just say that 3 of them have NO taste whatsoever and I am considering removing them from my Christmas card list!
Love the script, the the story, love the cast and LOVE Rob 🙂
lise-lou
And BTW that was the short version! LOL
Maria
LOL @LL I think you might need a social cleansing – except for the one who came twice – we like her – she can stay! I agree the promotion has been lacking. I’m trying to figure out why that is – Hoyts Distribution can’t be blamed – I mean they gave us the free tix to give away on the site – so it’s really down to the individual cinemas. Unfortunatley for me – I know all about this because it took over 12 months to get anybody to screen Little Ashes. Seriously pounded the streets with that and at first even the distributor wasn’t interested. So what’s with you Australians? Do you not want the revenue of people coming in to your cinemas? We were told by the person who berated us that she had a friend of a friend of a friend who worked at a BC&C who didn’t believe there would be any interest in the film. I tended not to believe it and I still don’t. There is definitely interest – it’s just that they are lazy and probably figure that they will make their revenue through Hurt Locker and Alice in Wonderland. Ooh there I think I’ve hit the nail on the head. No need to promote this film – we’ll be doing okay with the Academy Award nominated films. Will just stick this one in the corner for the diehard twi fans. Hmm maybe that’s it. Lack of interest on the part of the cinemas NOT the fans.
Sonya
My hubby and sister came with me on Wednesday night and hubby really enjoyed the movie and was very impressed with Robs acting abilities. MY sister on the other hand… all I’m going to say is she said it was okay but she did say that Robs acting was brilliant compared to his acting in the Twilight Saga. She is a Twifan I’m afraid. I mean she doesn’t follow Rob or anything but she love the Twilight Saga. I am the one who is always telling her about Rob this and Rob that. She just rolls her eyes when I’m forever talking about him.
Maria
Thanks @Sonya – see further evidence that Twifans does not equate to Rob fan. Oh and I think you get to keep her as a sister only because she acknowledged that Rob’s acting was brilliant. Haha – no social cleansing required.
Terri Howard

*exhale*
Maria
See Terri – we weren’t exaggerating and we are definitely not one-eyed.
Robbie
I can’t believe people are not going! I’ve been scouring closer cinemas (ie: maybe an hour’s drive away) so I can get to see it AT ALL and if we finally get it, I know I will be there again and again and again (*sigh*). Maria, so well said. This is the chance to show those damn doubters how good Rob really is by supporting him. That tall poppy syndrome is NOT going to get him. If half the so-called celebrities had half of his self deprecating charm…..his family must be so proud of how he conducts himself; I know I am!
Maria
Oh well said @Robbie well said. Yes if they had half his charm I might actually bother to go see someone elses films. Well @Vertigo just sent me a text since she’s seeing it again and guess what – 5 people in her session *throws hands up in the air*. I’m curious to see what it takes over the weekend both here and in the US.
Michelle
Exactly Robbie – so well said. My cinema is not screening it either so I had to travel 2 hours on Thurs to go to the next closest cinema, not good enough Launceston Village – just not. The excuse my cinema is giving is – oh the reason why we aren’t screening the film in your city is because you are such a small theatre. Hmmm really, well how come it is screening in a city that has 40+ thousand less people in it than mine. Explain that to me! Gee I don’t know what’s wrong with these people. Hope you get to see this amazing film soon Robbie. If my cinema ever grows a brain & decides to screen it I will be there every single spare chance I get.
5 people *shakes head* just *shakes head*
Terri Howard
def no exaggerating nor one-eyed monsters here ‘t all!
I was sooo stoked going into the theater I was hyperventilating and had to dump my bag of popcorn so I could breathe into it!
I am still weepy…on overload between NM dvd and RM all month long!
and heading back tomorrow for a matinee show (sshhhhh, I am supposed to be marketing!)
Belinda
Hi, Long time watcher-first time contributor. I saw RM on thursday and there was about 20 people. I loved the film and RP was absolutely stunning-acting and looks!!!
I can’t understand why there wasn’t more but I am happy that there wasn’t the screaming imbiciles like in NM.
I LOVE all that RP has been in, as it was the Twilight Series that really brought him to my attention. I have to say Little Ashes was SUPERB.
I would love anything he is in because of his sheer presence-in all senses of the word.
Hopefully word of mouth will give RM the recognition it so rightly deserves. I hope to go again and again. My husband is seriously worried. LOL!! Well I just want to say I love this site and girls you do a fantastic job and I love that you respect his privacy and only show red carpet, promo stuff. BIG TICK!!!
Sonya
How do we find out how well the movie went on opening day?
tessANZ
Hi Robsisters!
aw, agree that it is a bit disappointing that the movie was not as well promoted as i had thought it would be…i have ranted on earlier about this so will not repeat myself…suffice to say that, having been to 4 different cinemas to see it now, you could miss the movie altogether if you were looking for posters of it. only one of the cinemas had more than 2 posters and they were not in the most prominent spots either!! mostly promoting Alice and upcoming movies like Iron Man and Hurt Locker etc.
anyways, i have now seen the movie 6 times and these were the numbers:
1) First session on Thursday 11th March in Auckland @ 10.45 am with about 15 people + ME
2) Second session @ 1.10 pm with 5 retired elderly people + ME (I spoke with them, they were there because of the timing and thought it was a “lovely” movie and will tell their friends
3) Evening session @ 8.30 pm with about 50 people + ME
4) Friday 12th March, session at 1 pm with aobut 60 people + ME
5) Night session still on Friday with about 75 people
6)Saturday 13th March @ 3.50 session with about 100 people + my hubby + ME
7) going to the last session tonight!
i am a professional so can keep my own hours and negotiate around lectures and clients.
essentially. all my friends who love me have offered to shout me a session and come see it with me. i spread them out…all my friends who think me crazy give me movie vouchers so i can indulge.
On the big screen, i have seen Twilight more than 100 times, New Moon about 70 times and i definitely think Remember Me will break all those tallies!!
Most of the staff at the cinemas know me now and know my obsession. some of the staff even give me their staff tickets!! i got Twilight and New Moon badges from staff as well!! so, cannot complain!
love you all but have to go now to see Robert, my big screen boyfriend!! **Coughcough**!!as.if!!
Oh, and don’t waste a moment telling me i am crazy or whatever…i already know and i do not care!
ciao bella and <3 you all!
Ves
I saw it on Thursday night with my husband – it was awesome. I adore Rob. Wasn’t my husband’s type of flick, but he liked it…well he said it didn’t suck, but that is a massive compliment from him considering he likes stuff like V for Vendetta and The Hurt Locker. Will see it again for sure!
Sonya
By the way @Maria I’m so excited I just got told by my hubby that the friend that was suppose to give me the 4 Rob movies is coming thru with the goods tomorrow. I can’t wait. My laptop and I are going to be having an affair with Rob tomorrow night. But will stay logged on and pop over to the site when each one finishes to make sure I haven’t missed out on anything. I probably will be watching them all night. Yipeee. I’ve been waiting so long to get them.
Maria
That’s great @Sonya but to get full Rob experience you should watch them in the order I said in my email. Then you can really see how he’s grown as an actor. Little Ashes is amazing – I have a soft spot for that film.
Maria
@tessANZ yes you get the award for most obsessed but hey thanks for keeping us in the loop and especially thanks for no spoilers seeing as you should know the dialogue word by word now. Am a little jealous 😀
So anyone going or been to a session tonite (depending on when you read this) – let us know how the numbers pan out in Syd, Melb, Adel, Perth, BrisVegas, Darwin, Hobart – we already know it’s not in Launceston – boo hiss 😀
Sonya
Thanks @Maria you’re pretty amazing yourself (even u Michelle haven’t forgotten u) u girls do a great job here. It’s the best site. Best pics, best everything. Thanks for all the info and advice as well. Can I ask why u have a soft spot for LA.
Maria
Hi Belinda – thanks for the kind words and also the input. And yes well we have no issue with Twilight introducing fans to Rob, it’s the crazies that refuse to understand that he is not Eddie – hahaha. I have to agree with you – it’s so good sitting through his movies without the screaming imbeciles. I am seriously still scarred from the midnight session of New Moon at the Ritz. I won’t ever go see another Twi midnite session again. Not only did hey talk throughout the entire Twilight film (I didn’t care that I’d seen it over 7 times at cinema – I still wanted to appreciate him again), but the sceaming over Eddie and TayTay in New Moon – it’s just plain insanity. I spent the entire time saying to them “They can’t hear you!!!!” Haha – there off my chest yet again 😀
Maria
LOL @Terri – you are marketing – just that it’s Remember Me!
Maria
@Ves – very brave of you to take husband – actually all of you are very brave, but clearly they now must understand the appeal although they won’t admit it.
Ves
Oops sorry forgot to mention there were only about a dozen people in the cinema and it was a 6.40pm session time…so might be too early for some if they are working. I’ve just gone to Amazon to order the Remember me soundtrack, will buy the DVD when it’s out. He is gorgeous and I’m a 35 y.o. mum of a 3 year old!
Maria
@Sonya – it was the only film of Rob’s I hadn’t seen. Cilla, who was original site owner, actually got to see it at the Rainbow Festival in London in 2008 and she just raved about Rob’s performance. I finally saw it in June 09 (I think -maybe a little earlier) and his performance as Dali just left me stunned. I had read so much about it by then I knew how much effort he had put into that role – it really was a taste of what was to come and has now definitely arrived. I can’t tell you how much effort was put into getting the limited release screenings here in Oz and I almost cried when Kojo Pictures agreed for me to help them get cinemas on board – hence why that film of Rob’s has a very special place in my heart. Actually I think I may have cried for real – tears of joy tears of joy.
Maria
@Ves – age is just a number here at RPAU and there is no law that says you have to be a certain age to appreciate talent and beauty! It’s just that we are less fickle and will be here for the long haul – no Zefron for me – hahahaha. As for the DVD – as soon as we know it’s being released or should I say you can pre-order we will let you all know. One thing for sure – Rob’s on the commentary – woot woot!
Temajin
Going to see it in about 1 hour, have used my powers of pursuasion to get hubby and daughter to go along with me…mostly it was the promise of choc tops and popcorn with a side order of maccas on the way home that did it, i’ll have a McTyler burger with a side order of Rob thanks, no pickle…
btw, hope everyone is great, Love Sam
Michelle
So jealous @tessANZ, so jealous 😀 So great you have got to see the film 6 times. You’ve done a great job with the stats, much appreciated. Boo hiss indeed Maria, I always knew Launceston sucked & now I am sure of it lol.
Michelle
Hi Ves 😀 Yep as Maria said, age is just a number here, nothing more. I often get told that I am ‘too old’ to be co-running a fan site, you can imagine my response to them. Haha- they never say it to me again. We are most definitely here for the long haul that is for sure, staying right here. The DVD *sigh* oh how I cannot wait for the day when we can post the pre-order details. Rob on the commentary – wooo hooooo!!
Maria
LOL @Michelle – tell those morons that this is a business venture not a fansite. Hahaha – just because we make no money from it doesn’t mean we aren’t enriched in some other way 😀 Lordy if you are too old imagine what they would say to me.
Tracey
I went to see it here in Perth last Thurs opening session. There was only about a dozen or so people there, but I put that down to the time (11am). I went on my own, cause that’s the way I like it. I was expecting tears and prefer to be in my own bubble when that happens. To only say that this movie had a profound effect on me is an understatement. Despite trying to seek out a copy of the script months ago (unsuccessfully I might add), I did see an interview that alluded to the surprise ending, so I had my suspicions on what might happen. (spoilers don’t bother me – I like to be prepared) But was completely unprepared for how much of an impact it would have on me. So sensitively handled, but very, very powerful.
I was trying to tell my girlfriend about it the next day, and couldn’t stop myself from tearing up again.
I’ll be returning to see it again – again during school hours, so I don’t expect to see a ton of people at any any screening I attend. I’ll also be adding it to my own dvd library once its released.
I admit I obsess over the Twilight series, but do consider myself a true Rob fan rather than a Twihard. He initially cought my attention in GOF but I’ve adored him as all his characters. I’m yet to see Little Ashes, but only ’cause it’s never been screened here in WA. Another dvd for my collection when I can get my hands oo it.
RM was never going to be competing for the blockbuster audiences, I don’t think that was ever the intention. But I do think that it will be exposed to a greater audience because of Rob’s involvement and I’m sure it will be appreciated as a well acted, sensitively portrayed story, by those with a genuine interest in his talent.
Ves
@Michelle – OMG – I never understood the appeal of Zac Effron either…My hubby is very understanding…He’s from a an american background and he thought Rob’s NY accent in Remember Me was spot-on…didn’t think much of Pierce’s accent – I’m sure by the time Water for elephants comes round, he’ll be fully convinced of Rob’s talents!
I don’t think I’m a cougar..but my hubby is 31 next month..and in my day it was always called a cradle snatcher …what can i say I’m a sucker for tall lean baby-faced men.*LoL*…I’ve always looked about 5 years younger so it’s not been that big a problem 🙂
Maria
Haha @Ves it was me that said Zefron. Yep I agree Rob’s NY accent spot on – Charles was originally from Brooklyn – they hinted at that when his secretary bought his coffee in the diner – ask your husband if that was more like a Brooklyn accent.
Debbie
Hope the cinemas are packed in UK..doesn’t come out til Apr 2 🙁 I haven;t seen any posters yet – but it still might be too early?
Maria
@Debbie I haven’t seen any posters yet either – oh wait sorry I saw one in the cinema today, but a friend of mine said they were on bustops in the city on Thursday (sydney), but I’m yet to see it, but they are pushing Dear John for some reason. Maybe they figure Rob has enough fans that they don’t need to promote because we will all go and see it. Who knows.
Caitlin
one word…
stunning.
my favourite movie of his so far. this movie was written for him. perfect. him and ruby are adorable.
vertigo
I will go back and read all your comments in a bit – meanwhile I just wanted to pop my head in and give up the scoop, now that I’ve come back from my 2nd date with Tyler. Not rubbing it in if anyone hasn’t had the opportunity, but I feel compelled to tell you about someone’s reaction. The person I went with today has been teasing me about Rob since day one – and without too much info, teasing Rob. She is clearly not a fan but has endured my persistence like a trooper.
Without dishing out spoilers, I’ll skip straight to our exit from the cinema, which took a while since she was trying to compose herself to return to the public eye. Yes, she was completely floored by the whole package. When we finally got home and she found her voice again, I asked what she thought about the movie and in shortening her response, boiled down to “very good, really well doneâ€. Then I pushed on to ask about Rob’s performance – she said “he really does deserve an Oscar, he was amazing, I had no ideaâ€. She believed!
Maria
@Vertigo – THIS is what the world needs to see. He really does deserve something for this role and it’s good to hear it from non-believers of Rob. I got goosebumps reading this. So proud of him – so so proud.
