*New* Still with Rob & Mia for Maps to the Stars *Updated*

I wonder if we will get to see this movie in Australia this year.  So far there’s radio silence when it comes to getting a release date

Update: Not exactly HQ as it’s a little grainy, but it’s definitely big clicky action!

    Gorgeous, gorgeous still.

*sigh* I really am beginning to wonder too Maria if we will see the film here this year 🙁

How could they not release it? I mean, it’ll surely be on the internet soon (if not already) illegally – why not pre-empt it and get it out there before it gets pirated? You just can’t leave these things languishing too long. People get too impatient waiting for ‘official’ releases. Why don’t the movie studios understand this?

Fingers crossed we get to see Jerome on the big screen SOON. It’s sweet torture seeing all of these gorgeous stills, not to mention the trailers, and not have a date yet. *Maybe I should try harder re the NZ mini-break. Hmmm*

@Trish – I know it is hard waiting but I still hope people don’t pirate. Even if you buy the DVD later, illegal downloads still devalue the product. Making an indie movie, or creating music is a hard enough already. Art makes life worthwhile so lets value the product and support the arts by waiting until we can purchase the experience, or the sound, or whatever.

I totally agree with you, Carmel, but millions of others don’t, nor do they care, just so long as they get it ‘now’. The only way to stop piracy (well, you can’t really stop it completely) or lessen the chance of it, is to put it out there as quickly as possible. It’s the only defence against lost revenue. The days of holding out are long gone – in this age of the internet, nothing is sacred. Studios and filmmakers/marketers just have to get smarter about how they operate to cut the incidence of piracy Believe me, I’d rather the artists involved make money so they can keep making their art – we all benefit then.

@Trish – we are totally on the same page. I am sorry if I came across as preachy. I have a bit of a thing about this subject.

I would have thought that with the positive reviews it got at Cannes, there would have been talks for releasing it into the cinemas here and the US.

@Carmel, no offence taken. This passion is something we share – being one myself, I’m all for artist’s rights and respecting intellectual property.
