*shakes head* seriously a Breaking Dawn Part 1 Extended Edition DVD/Blu-ray?? Couldn’t they have just put the extra 8 minutes on the BD Pt2 release? Still milking it for all it’s worth & beyond – why am I not surprised when it comes to this lot. Anyways here’s the press release via Yahoo! Movies for those that are interested. There’s also an ‘announcement’ video which I’ve included after the cut as it autoplays.

“As Twilight series devotees know, there was a lot of ground to cover in adapting Breaking Dawn to the screen,” said Condon. “Between the wedding, the honeymoon, the birth, and everything in between, naturally there were things that didn’t make it into our final cut. But I wanted to make sure that for all the Twihards out there, there was a chance to see some of these cut scenes – several of which are fan favorites from the book.”

The Twilight Saga has held its spot as the top-selling home entertainment franchise since 2008 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 took in $281.3 million in domestic box office sales after its release on November 18, 2011. Isn’t there a law about ripping people off? It hasn’t even been 12 months since they released BDPt 1 DVD – it was Valentine’s Day wasn’t it.

As appalling as this is, I wish I could say I was surprised. That 8 mins could have been put on last year’s release.

The only thing about “forever” that I can relate to this franchise is the milking of its fans. It ain’t ever going to stop.

Oh well the movie hasn’t made much money so I guess this will help…..*snickerswithsarcasm*

OMG – This is for Part 1??? The bloody bastards

If they could add more then why couldn’t they have had Rob commentary also – just saying 🙁 I like the added little extra that he provides.

Even I (die hard twihard that i am) have to agree this is outrageous. It’s like….oopsy, we forgot this bit! You gotta pay twice as much to get 8minutes more, knowing all the fans already bought the deluxe bloody blu-ray etc. Onya Summit. *shakes head*

@Val as cynical as I sound – they are going to milk this for years. For the BDPt2 – then the boxed set of all the movies, then the deluxe box set, then the directors cut boxed set. You watch. And I sarcastically tweeted the other day whether you get a set of steak knives with the French version. I just think it’s outrageous.

I guess when they said “forever” they weren’t kidding.

@Elaine – forever isn’t over yet … that will probably be released in 2016

When I first read this, I thought immediately of Cronenberg’s comments re if there are deleted scenes, they’re usually deleted for a reason. (I’m sure Summit couldn’t agree more, it’s just a different reason.)

Of course, I’m the first to admit they’ll be getting my money when the time comes , ‘coz
I won’t be able to resist …… but you already knew that!

LOL @Maria re the set of steak knives…… damn, I just bought some before Xmas. Clearly I should have waited!

  • Maria

    Clearly @Sue

*Waves to Lynda* – yes Lynda I know they aren’t forcing me to buy – just like noone is forcing you to stalk our website and only comment when I say something anti-Twi. Still ain’t approving your comment.

Is this available for pre-order from amazon?

  • Michelle

No pre-order links at the minute Leah, but won’t be too far away I expect.

Oh @Lynda – really they have freedom of speech in England? Say it ain’t so.

“Yes I know you only approve comments that praise everything you say, your not interested in anybody making comments that are opposed to what you say about Twi. In England we have free speach and forums have comments both positive and negative. I love your website but I aren’t going to just say yes I agree to everything, I am only going to comment when I don’t. My last comment wasn’t offensive in any way, I was just pointing out that nobody is forced into buying dvds etc”

“Yes I know you only approve comments that praise everything you say” – wow stop it – you’re giving me a God complex *blushes*.

You are so entertaining – tell me – how much do “coolhunters” get paid to come onto Rob sites that haven’t seen the “TWI” light? I’ve copied and pasted your comment so that others can see what a treasure you are. No doubt I will see your response in spam because yeah I’m still not approving you.

Maria – I’m wondering if I should hold out for those steak knives that will probably come with the box set.
Or maybe I can just wait for those 8 mins on YT. Yeah I’m good with that.

  • Cindy

So if i buy six copies does that mean i get six sets of steak knives? ;()

*nods* me too Vertigo re: YouTube. It’ll be on there – no doubt about it.

You’re so right Maria, when they said ‘forever’ they really did mean it. They’ll be milking it for eternity.

So, without wanting to fuel the fire, I think it’s fair for me to add that there are ways of sharing one’s differing opinion respectfully when you’re on blog ……. but it helps to remember who runs the blog and be grateful for the time and effort they put into it …… or simply find somewhere else that’s more to your liking.

Anyway, I loved that Kierkegaard quote, @Maria – I’ve spent the last hour googling him – quite a fascinating man from what I can gather. (And of course I had to google ‘coolhunters’ as well, as I had NO idea what they were/are!)

Ooooh, I love it when things get spicy! Maria, you go girl! – it’s your site (and Michelle & Co’s) so what you say goes, as far as I’m concerned. Perhaps that set of steak knives may find other uses…
Exploitation is NOT cool – to say that exploitation sucks IS freedom of speech. Just sayin…
