Respecting Rob because actions speak louder than words.
Well when I first heard a few weeks ago that George Clooney pulled out of The Man from U.N.C.L.E I pretty much emailed the girls and said “THIS HAS TO BE ROB’S NEXT FILM”! So again, the only reason I’m posting this is to put it out there in the universe because I would kill (like always) to see Rob do this film. According to the Playlist:
“Steven Soderbergh‘s latest picture “Contagion” is in its second week of release with a healthy tally thus far of over $45 million, and his next feature, the independent male stripper film “Magic Mike,” is currently shooting. And now the director is already mapping out—at least if he sticks to the current plan—his penultimate film, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E. …
With Clooney as the American lead Napoleon Solo—giving the film the star power it needed—Soderbergh was essentially free to cast a lesser known in the secondary role. However, now that Clooney is out, Warner Bros. is putting an emphasis on big name actors for both roles, hence their desire for the likes of Gosling, Skarsgard and Gordon-Levitt. Of course, things are still at the wishlist level with only minor inquiries with agents about schedules, but this is the idea as of right now. WB is throwing other wishlist names around as well, including usual suspects like Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pine, Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Hamm, Russell Crowe and Robert Pattinson, hoping one of them will stick with the director. …
Meanwhile, the clock ticks on ‘U.N.C.L.E’ casting as a February 14th start dates looms, and once actors start getting booked for 2012, options will become more and more limited.”
Let’s face it Soderbergh is on the road to retirement so if Rob wants to work with him, this is his opportunity. Please God Rob would so make a gorgeous Napoleon Solo – just like Robert Vaughn did – see tis fate – it’s a Rob role *giggles*
I would give anything for this rumour to be true, but it’s probably not so I thought I would use the excuse to post Rob’s Songs From a Room performance. According to Us Weekly:
“Robert Pattinson, rock star?
The British actor, 25, is prepping to record an album imminently, two sources tell Us Weekly.
Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn’t allow it,” one insider explains of the superstar, who recorded two songs, “Never Think” (which he co-wrote with pal Sam Bradley) and “Let Me Sign” for the original Twilight soundtrack.
“Now he’s got some weeks to get everything in line before going back to promoting Breaking Dawn.”
But don’t expect a chart-topping album with broad mass appeal and a string of top 40 hits. “The album Rob will make will be guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop,” explains a second source of the indie-music fan, “Like stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison.” …
“Music is his first love!” says the second source. “He’s tortured because he avoids it. When he’s sitting around jamming in the studio, it’s his favorite moment of life.”
To prep for the recording session, the guitar player has been “studying on on other instruments — like piano and horns,” the first source reveals. “It’s an obsession for him.”
Ok well let’s break down what is actually said in this article and how many inaccuracies are in it:
1. ”Imminently” – doesn’t that mean likely to happen? So in actual fact it has been “imminent” for the last 5 or so years really.
2. Rob didn’t co-write Never Think – Sam wrote the original and Rob kind of tweeked the Twilight version … right.
3. I hope they mean by some weeks to get everything in line they are just talking about booking the recording studio and other musicians and not actually recording the album. Let’s face it – Rob’s pretty much had the last 8 or so weeks to “get everything in line”.
4. Oh I think you CAN expect a chart topping album – it doesn’t have to have top 40 hits to be successful. Plus Rob has something the majority of top 40 artists don’t have and that’s talent. Bwahahahaha sorry but guitar based and drums – um I think you just described every rock band there is … oops sorry I digress.
5. Okay studying on other instruments “like piano and horns”. Rob doesn’t need to study piano …
Hmmmm I think I could have written a better and more accurate article about Rob’s “imminent” recording deal.
Right … so I just really posted this in the hope of putting it out there and it may happen, plus I think even though we all WANT Rob to record an album, he has said time and time again that he doesn’t want to look like he’s cashing in on his career. I gather Rob will pretty much tell us he’s doing it before it happens and I can’t really believe he could slip into a recording studio without anyone noticing although stranger things have happened.
Scroll back up and click on pic to listen to Rob perform … *SWOON*
Updated: MTV have debunked, even though I pretty much think I debunked it above. It’s not rocket science. Anyway if you want further confirmation that this is just a rumour, click on MTV link. Oh and by the way MTV can you just stop it with the Twilight references he is MORE than a BD Star in fact I believe currently he should be referred to as the Water For Elephants star .. jesus I’m beginning to think the “T” in MTV stands for Twilight.
Aeren this is for you … I saw you mentioned last night that you hoped for one of these pics in UHQ – it’s not the ones you posted but it’s the same shoot. I’m sure we posted before but … If reposting please credit Robert Pattinson Australia.
