Golden Years: For Once I Agree with The Volturi

For those who have been following RPAU for awhile, this will come as no surprise.  I mean – who can forget how I went on about the clocktower scene whilst they were filming – remember I was putting together a lynch mob for Rosenburp.  Well, don’t get too excited because my favourite scene from New Moon isn’t  clocktower because for me clocktower was kind of epic fail.  Not the shirtless Rob part – because that can never be fail, but to be honest I was really looking forward to the whole Volturi scene from start to finish.  It could have been so much more and it wasn’t.  I know the book focuses on wolf boy, but it seemed to focus more on him in the movie than was really necessary.  The fact that they didn’t include the scene when Edward & Bella were waiting to leave Volturi headquarters I’ll never know and also the conversation when they are back in Forks in her bedroom – ugh just don’t remind me.  Nearly as bad as everyone going on about the “leg hitch” scene in Eclipse – THAT IS NOT THE LEG HITCH SCENE PEOPLES.  And as for the cliffhanger ending?  Um we all know what happens – no cliffhanger needed.  Personally, I think, if there was a film that should have remained close to the book and made into 2 films – New Moon was it (for me anyway) and not the abomination that they are currently about to start filming.   Yeah I went there.  I know for some of you it’s your favourite book – please don’t get offended, it’s my personal opinion and you don’t have to agree with me, but I still can’t help but feel that the book has a rushed feel to it – you know – make sure you get it out before the first movie is released.  I really don’t like what she did with the characters.  How did Edward become so whipped?  Anyway for me New Moon will remain my favourite book (especially my copy that Chris Heyerdahl has signed *giggles*), but unfortunately not movie, but these scenes I love – thank God the Volturi saw his potential!  How can I not love angry and forlorn Edward – I mean seriously – I just want to hug him.

Yep everything except Robs performances in these movies has been downhill since Twilight. But a great video none the less Maria Thanks oxo
And just quietly sack Rosenburp and give you the script writing job now that would be a movie I would line up to see. 🙂

Agree with everything you have said Maria. Eclipse was my fave book and Rosenburp (just love that)stomped all over that. It’s the parts of the books that she chooses to leave out that I find most irritating!!! Again i have to say that without Rob as Edward there would be no point really!!! Thanks Maria, great vid as always.

IKR – that’s why I’m surprised that people who love the books so much actually think the movies are great? I mean I love Rob as Edward don’t get me wrong, but I’m not fanatical about the twi series, but even I am disappointed with their interpretation on screen. For me some of the key elements of the books are replaced with scenes that didn’t even happen – I know they are based on the books, but they should sometimes say “loosely based”. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – why Summit kept the scriptwriter, but replaced the directors I will never understand. Personally I think the fans have sold themselves short – look at how much money has been made by the series and yet 10% of that doesn’t even seem to be reinvested in the films.

ITA Maria. God knows what she’ll do with BD and to be honest i’m not really all that fussed anymore. Will go to enjoy Rob as always but other than that, we’ll see.

The volturi scenes were so rushed in the movie it took weeks to recover from whiplash! Come to think of it, is it too late to send Rosenburp my chyro bills? :O

    Chris *giggles* he was HILARIOUS!

All the Twilights minus Rob = 0 for me. Especially how there seems to be a blatant disregard of Edward’s character after #1. I enjoyed the books but I agree with Maria, BD is a disaster of an ending. SM built Edward up so lovingly just to toss him aside in the finale. Not a good advertisement for marriage.
Having said that, I’ll go along and see it, many times, and enjoy it for what it is. A bit of fun with glimpses of the most beautiful man on the planet playing Edward. Sigh.

Honestly I don’t really like any of the Twilight films apart from the first one, which I really only see as a little independent film in my eyes, and I hated BD so doesn’t look good there either. I enjoyed the first three books, now I only watch the films for Rob. Cause I mean, come on, who can resist a little angry Eddie? 😛 And as for NM – Clock tower Eddie. Enough said.

I love BD, it’s my favourite book of four. Bella becomes strong in this book and do not think that is bad for marriage. Edward is in the background to make way for his powerful vampire wife. I don´’t like Melissa Rosenberg,
in her scripts disappears the essence of the books. Films could be better but I love the series and I can’t wait to see BD

Maria, once again… you just nailed it! Thank you!!!

I´m still sooooo dissapointed when it comes to New Moon… 🙁

It´s my favorite book, but the movie is just… well, I only watched the DvD once, that says it all, huh?

But Michael Sheen & Dakota Fanning as Aro and Jane are absolutely amazing!

@Renee – exactly and I’ve said it before – I wonder if I would have even read the books had Rob not been cast as Edward. I mean I’m an avid reader and I’m yet to read the Harry Potter series – believe it or not – even Goblet of Fire. Hmmm where is that copy I should really read it LOL.

I know Vertigo if only they had rushed through Jacob’s scenes (no offence Taylor) the movie may have been more bearable. I’m curious to see whether Rob actually has a staring role in the last two films considering how little screen appearance he had in Eclipse when after all he is the LEAD in the book IMO.

I adore the books, the movies so-so I watch them because of Rob, as most of us 😉

Thanks for the video – RP’s one hot vampire, even (more so?) when angst-y.

I got the books after seeing Twilight because RP made Edward fabulous. But for me, those tomes were poorly written. I gave up on Breaking Dawn 1/4 through, so I’m rather dreading its cinematic conclusion.

I agree Maria – he was the LEAD in the book. If they do BD right, we’ll barely see wolfboy since alot of the book is from his perspective – while watching Edward and Bella’s horrific journey.
