Every day for us is Batman Day when it involves Rob, but for those who maybe need to get more familiar with Batman (raises hand) and is interested in the DC Universe, you better mark 19 September 2020 at the official date for Batman Day in 2020.

I don’t believe there will be any new Rob content, but you might want to check out DC Fandome: Explore the Multiverse on 12 September – there is a talk by Jim Lee and also “Lights on Leavesden” could be an interesting look into the studio where they are filming parts of Rob’s #TheBatman. You can check out what’s on offer by clicking on the Fandome link above. They will be reshowing content from the Fandome held on 22 August 2020. According to DC Comics official Batman Day page:

Did DC Fandome whet your appetite for even more of the Dark Knight?  Then join fans all around the world as they celebrate The World’s Greatest Detective!  It starts with a week-long celebration full of activities perfect for families and fans of all ages.  Then join the Caped Crusader on a global Twitter adventure as he pursues The Riddler through Gotham City.  Find the clues that unlock wonderful limited-time rewards.  Keep checking back here for the latest Batman Day clues and news.

Robert Pattinson #TheBatman crew prepping the Bat Mobile

image host

If you’ve watched Rob’s press junket interviews for Tenet then you will know that Rob has confirmed that filming for The Batman will recommence soon. We’ve seen photos of the set being prepared and today the Daily Mail is reporting this:

And it seems that the things are finally getting underway as the Batmobile was seen being put through its paces at Cardington Airfield on Thursday.

Crew were seen taking two cars that had been decked out to resemble the Caped Crusader’s new ride out of a van.

Head over to Daily Mail via link to check out the series of photos. I’m loving that they are using a “muscle car”.

Thanks @Bat_Source for heads up.

Robert Pattinson #TheBatman Trailer features twist on Nirvana’s “Something in the Way”

image host

As soon as I heard the song on the trailer I thought – wow this is reminiscent of Nirvana. I had never heard this version before. PopSugar gives us the following background:

The song playing in the trailer is a version of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way,” but it’s not quite the track you’re probably used to hearing. Originally, “Something in the Way” was the last song on the band’s breakout album, Nevermind, in 1991, and while it never became a gigantic hit single, it’s had a long life and a fair bit of popularity over the past 30 years. In its original form, it’s a softer, more stripped-down song, featuring acoustic guitar and even a bit of cello.

For the trailer, however, someone — presumably the film’s composer, Michael Giacchino, … tweaked and rearranged the classic song to better suit an introduction to this particularly dark and corrupt Gotham. This version of the song is epic, with big orchestral swells and heavy, thudding percussion, matching the dark and sinister vibe of the first glimpse of this Batman.

The song itself is pretty bleak on its own, painting a picture of brutal struggles to survive. “Underneath the bridge / The tarp has sprung a leak / And the animals I’ve trapped / Have all become my pets / And I’m living off of grass,” the main verse goes.

Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves sneak peek at The Batman

image host

So we no longer have to wait to see Rob’s take on The Batman/Bruce Wayne. It gives me chills – the whole teaser and Rob’s Batman voice – far exceeded my expectations. Here is Matt’s vimeo as well as Rob’s intro – WB know him well – Rob wasn’t allowed to say anything

The Batman – DC FanDome Teaser from Matt Reeves on Vimeo.

Here’s some paraphrased comments from Matt Reeves during the DCFandome:

The Bat suit is practical – idea is Bruce made himself and so Rob had input into the suit so that he could move and fight in it. Rob had input into the Bat suit because he has to make sure he can move and fight in it. Matt also confirms that Rob’s Batman is Year Two – so he goes out looking for fights etc and rips have to remain in the bat suit etc.

Rob spoke to Christian Bale and Bale told Rob to make sure when you are wearing the suit you are able to “relieve yourself”!

On why he chose Rob for the role

Matt Reeves says Rob is an incredible actor the work Rob has done in last 6 years. A friend of his worked on The Lost City of Z and when Matt says he saw Rob with the beard he had to ask – who is that. Rob has so much charimsa. He is like a chameleon and is such a gifted actor in a really incredible way and is a tremendous passionate fan of Batman. It was incredible to connect with him and share excitement for the character. He has the soul of someone who can play a Batman that we haven’t seen before.
