Robert Pattinson The Batman possibly shooting late September 2020
I don’t know how accurate the Production List is, but they are claiming that The Batman will be shooting on 30 September 2020. As I said on Twitter, I’m a little doubtful because they still list Jonah Hill in the cast, but that could just be an oversight. After all, IMDbPro often has slight mistakes and often it is reliable for news and updates.
Zack Snyder thinks Robert Pattinson is cool and is super excited about his upcoming Batman film
Zack Snyder was interviewed by Beyond the Trailer and he had this to say about Matt Reeves and Rob’s upcoming Batman/Bruce Wayne in answer to the DCEU universe:
“I’m super excited about that, by the way. I think he’s an amazing filmmaker and I think this is great and Robert’s cool.”
I’ve started the interview at the spot where he starts talking Matt Reeves – it’s short but sweet.
Colin Farrell talks Robert Pattinson The Batman Script
Metro UK posted an article on Colin Farrell and The Batman quoting excerpts from his recent interview with SFX Magazine. Here’s what they had to say:
Colin Farrell is ‘excited’ about the script for Matt Reeves’ upcoming film The Batman. The actor is set to play Batman villain the Penguin opposite Robert Pattinson as the titular character.
Colin has been talking up the script to SFX magazine, teasing that fans can expect something ‘unique and new’ yet familiar at the same time. ‘The whole prospect is really exciting. I’m ecstatic to be part of that universe. There are certain words that are part of my internal lexicon and those words are Gotham City, Penguin, Joker, Batman, Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent… all of those things,’ he said.
‘I have been watching the Batman films with my kids, but this script is something that feels incredibly original. It leans into it but it doesn’t borrow; it’s born of the mythology of that character, Bruce Wayne, Batman and Gotham. But it feels like a treatment and a version that I hadn’t seen before. ‘Matt Reeves has done an incredible job of keeping it familiar and at the same time unique and new. It’s really exciting to be a part of it.’
And I take Colin’s words seriously because who can forget his comments to MTV about Rob taking on Cosmopolis (remember Colin dropped out because of scheduling conflicts with Total Recall) – “It’s a wonderful script. I wish him all the luck in the world with it”.
Robert Pattinson The Batman will recommencing film in September 2020?
According to Kris Tapley, host of Netflix’s The Call Sheet Podcast, he is hearing rumors that “The Batman” will recommence filming in September 2020 and will be filmed entirely indoors.
By controlling their locations, the cast and crew of The Batman can prevent any potential exposure to the virus that could have come from being out in a public space. While this is disappointing for fans who might’ve wanted to catch a glimpse of The Batman more than a year before its release, it makes sense as a precaution for avoiding further delays. Additionally, it’ll be interesting to see how this affects the look of The Batman. It might not have the same grounded feel that a real location could provide, but this also gives the opportunity for some really excellent set designs.
Collider talks Cinematography and The Batman with Greig Fraser
Adam Chitwood from Collider chatted with Australian cinematographer Greig Fraser currently working with Matt Reeves on The Batman. In the interview Greig mentions that what the actors have said previously about the movie being a character based movie is correct. That Matt’s script is very very good and well thought out and they’re having a ball filming it. The film won’t be oppressively dark visually and they are definitely trying to create intrigue. Click play below – I’ve set the video to start at 11.22
Matt’s an incredible director … I’m excited to be currently working with him on Batman…But I can tell you – what I will do – what some of the actors have gone away and said, it is a character based movie about the characters, about Andy Serkis’s character and Rob Pattinson’s character. It’s a very very good script, like all of Matt’s scripts it’s very good, it’s very well thought out and we’re having a ball making it. We’re doing our best. It’s a lot of pressure. I don’t think Matt takes non-pressure movies. … Batman is a lot of pressure. He’s gutsy, he’s a gutsy director.
It’s a good question [on how dark Batman will be] and it’s a question we ask ourselves. I can’t talk specifically of course. There’s darkness in the character for sure and we need to create a mood, which is obvious, it’s a Batman film. I don’t think it’s going to be oppressively dark in terms of visually, because that’s not what we’re trying to – we’re not trying to have a competition about who can go the darkest of the darkest of the darkest. We’re trying to create intrigue. I love the way some of the comics look and the graphic novels. You can see relatively quite clearly in those graphic novels. I can’t be too specific. I’m having a ball lighting it. It’s hard work but so rewarding.
Rob graces one of the covers of the holiday edition of Elle Man Poland. The magazine also includes an interview, which is similar to previous Elle magazines. Below is an extract which I’ve added for ease (Google translation). The full interview can be found in the holiday edition which is now on sale:
What would you tell teachers who discouraged you from attending the theater club?
I’m glad they thought so, because it made me very angry at the time. That’s why I started looking for theater outside of school. Then I found an agent. It wouldn’t happen if I only played in the school theater.
You’ve made 34 movies and series in 15 years. Do you still find joy in this job?
Now I have more of her! The more you do, the more you learn. And a new door opens in your mind. I used to think that acting is a test that you can’t fail. It may be so, but it doesn’t make much sense to think about it. If he detaches himself from thinking about the result, he simply begins to enjoy what he is doing. Not only in acting.
Can you choose among more interesting roles?
Yes. The older you are, the more you can do and finally you can talk to the director on an equal footing. Then the work turns into cooperation and more creative ideas are created. When you are younger, you have the mentality of a school kid. Someone tells you what to do. Then you can do it or say no. However, there is no room for partner discussion.
Do you read comments about yourself on the internet?
I read when my movie enters theaters.
And when they write badly, it touches you so much?
When I was younger it hurt a lot. But later I noticed that reading negative comments is strangely addictive. Addicts more than reading good. You can read a hundred good and one bad and you will be thinking just about this bad. When it came to me, I stopped worrying.
And if a negative comment about your work is sent by someone you care about?
This is rare. I think my intended isolation helps. It’s fun not to exist on Instagram. Then many unpleasant things just pass you by.
Do you consider yourself a millennium? You are 34 years old.
I think that I’m mentally closer to the previous generation. Millennials attach great importance to social media, and for me they are not important. They rather annoy me. I see no reason to publish something about myself or take pictures and post them later on the web … It just seems unnecessary and even crazy to me.
You’ve made many movies lately. Soon new premieres: “Tenet” by Christopher Nolan and later “Batman” announced a long time ago. Can you tell about them
I can’t say much about “Tenet” or “Batman” yet. I don’t even know much about it myself! “Tenet” is to be in theaters this summer. Pictures for “Batman” will not start until the end of the year.
Were you willing to accept this role?
Yes. I really wanted to play it. I’ve always dreamed of diversity in this profession. After a few more intimate movies, I wanted to play a super-production and I think I downloaded them with my thoughts. Suddenly Chris Nolan from Tenet and Matt Reeves from Batman appeared. They are both really amazing and extraordinary directors. I would agree to play every role in their films.
You’ve been training a lot lately. Are these preparations for the role of Batman?
Yes. I go to training every day. If I work on a given day, I go after the pictures. I’m building a silhouette (laughs). This is fun because I’ve never been such a big muscular guy before.
