The Batman Second Unit Director describes the film as “phenomenal”

image host

Although it appears that Bradley Parker may not have worked directly with Rob on The Batman, this is what he had to say about the film to ComicBookMovie.com (not that we needed any further convincing that it would be):

I’ve finished filming on that. I directed the Chicago second unit. It was an absolute blast,” Parker revealed…I’ve always loved working with Matt Reeves, and that’s another project, like Loki, which is going to be incredible. They’re both phenomenal projects.

Robert Pattinson Wears Cleverly Shoes as Bruce Wayne in The Batman

imgbox

From GQ:

George Cleverley shoes was founded in 1958 by a soldier-turned-shoemaker of the same name. Famed as much for his chisel-toed Oxfords, Derbies and loafers – designed expressly for carving up the sidewalks of the world’s most elegant neighbourhoods – as for having an understated approach to the craft of haute cobbling, the company’s unique vision continues today under the aegis of George Glasgow and his son, George Junior, who have infused it with a fresh new sense of 21st-century relevance.

Case in point, Cleverley – which has, over the years, created shoes for everyone from Winston Churchill to Bryan Ferry – is currently responsible for finishing the feet of the biggest names in Hollywood and beyond…

What’s more, Cleverley has also designed the shoes that will be worn by Robert Pattinson for his turn as Bruce Wayne in the next instalment of the Batman franchise, Matt Reeves’ The Batman. That’s right, the Dark Knight wears Cleverley shoes.

You dress a lot of big name actors. How did all these relationships come about?

We’ve had a long relationship with Hollywood – Fred Astaire and Humphrey Bogart wore Cleverley – but today we’ve got some really cool British actors, Henry Cavill, Jason Statham and Colin Firth, who are coming to us for their own shoes but also for the movies they’re in. We’re working with the costume designers for The Batman, for instance. When Robert Pattinson is playing Bruce Wayne he’ll be wearing Cleverley. We suggested a black calf Oxford to Pattinson and the team, but it wasn’t working so we ended up going for a black pebble calf Derby with a Dainite sole – it’s a style that we called the Henry – and you wouldn’t have thought it was a Bruce Wayne shoe. It’s got a bit of texture to it, a bit of character. [My emphasis]

“Tenet Highlights Why Robert Pattinson Is The Right Choice for Batman”

imgbox

Mark Lynch wrote this great article for on why Tenet proves that Rob as the right choice for Batman (not that WE needed any convincing). I like that Mark states “If Chris Pratt can go from the goofball in Parks and Recs to Star-Lord and Chris Evans from Not Another Teen Movie to Captain America then why can’t Robert Pattinson be allowed to make a similar jump?” Indeed Mark, indeed. Below is an excerpt, click on the link to read the full article:

The first time we see Robert Pattinson in Tenet, he looks and moves exactly like Bruce Wayne would in public. He’s dressed really nice, smiling, talking really smooth, and gave an appearance that put everyone watching him at ease. If you’ve ever seen Bruce Wayne in a comic with civilians or in Batman: The Animated Series, you know how often he plays the opposite of what he truly is.

In the first action scene, Neil displays all of his skills. He’s scaling a building, taking people out stealthily, and doing it all smoothly. He went from seemingly modest to a full-on threat in less than ten minutes. This is a switch we’ve seen Batman flip on multiple occasions. An underrated aspect of Bruce Wayne, Christian Bale did this well in the The Dark Knight Trilogy, effortlessly evolving from pompous, billionaire playboy to the heroic Caped Crusader in the blink of an eye. If Pattinson can do it in Tenet, he can definitely do it in The Batman.

…If there was any concern about him looking believable in a fight (not that there should have been), those can be put to rest instantly. We see Pattinson in action scenes and he looked believable. On that note, just how good does he look in the trailer for The Batman?

Batman is aggressive. He doesn’t kill, but he certainly puts a lot of people in hospitals with injuries that will take months to years to recover from – something that Pattinson convincingly portrayed in that trailer.

THE BATMAN Films & HBO Max GCPD Spinoff Will Crossover | .@Batmanonfilm

imgbox

THE WRAP recently interviewed HBO programming president Casey Bloys and discussed the the potential of character crossover between DC films and their HBO Max spinoffs.  Below is an extract from Batman on Film’s post about what Casey had to say concerning Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN and the “Gotham City PD” streaming spinoff and BOF’s thoughts:

“[Character crossover is] the idea. Matt Reeves is obviously a producer on ‘Gotham City PD.’ We don’t want to reserve characters just for films or for TV. There should be kind of some fluidity between them. So that is the idea. I mean, we’re in the very early stages on that. So I don’t want to suggest that any one character will be. But yes, that is, generally speaking, that is the idea, that there will be crossover.”

I’m just guessing here, but I suspect that “GCPD” will have a “main cast” and that characters that appear in THE BATMAN and its sequels will show up on the TV series.  So, perhaps we’ll see Jeffery Wright’s James Gordon appear in an episode or two.

As far as The Batman himself, Robert Pattinson, well, we know that the HBO Max series is set in year one of Batman’s career (and before the events we’ll see in THE BATMAN), so I figure it’s possible that he might show up briefly at some point.  Of course, whether or not it’s actually Pattinson in the suit is another thing altogether.  But one can hope!

We too join you in hoping BOF!
