Matt Reeves spoke to Deadline about Michael Giacchino’s score for The Batman and had this to say about Rob:

The preparing of The Batman‘s score long ahead of production benefitted the project in every stage of its creation, informing everything from tweaks to the script, to the post-production process. Then, there were the actors, including Pattinson, who were able to zone very precisely into the emotion and rhythms of a scene by listening to the music on set. “[Robert] actually said to me…the thing that was really a window for him emotionally [into the project] was listening to the music,” remembers Reeves. “And he listened to it again and again and again.”

Matt also spoke exclusively to Steve Weintraub from Collider and had this to say about Rob and the Batman sequel currently being written:

When we sat down with Reeves, we had to ask if he was shooting any films this year. At first, the director tried to play coy, by telling us “I’m not going to answer that question, but we are working on a movie. I’ll put it to you that way.” But then he revealed, “We’re deep in it and my partner and I are writing, Mattson [Tomlin] and I are writing, and it’s really exciting, and I’m really excited about what we’re doing.” Tomlin also worked with Reeves on The Batman’s script.

During our interview, Reeves also said that he’s “really excited to be doing that with Rob, because I just think he’s such a special person and actor.” So, while Gunn and Safran’s DC Universe changes have made many question the future of Pattinson and Reeves Batman sequel, unless something radically changes, fans can look forward to seeing the sequel.

Yesterday, Fandango’s Erik Davis and The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez chatted about WB cancelling The Batgirl last week, and what may be happening with Warner Bros and the DC Universe. Since people seemed to be worried about what might happen to The Batman 2, I thought I’d post the conversation below and this extract thanks to The Direct:

After addressing the cancelation of Batgirl and the general realignment of Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC strategy, Davis asked “Is [Robert] Pattinson the guy [to continue to be the DC’s Batman]?” despite director Matt Reeves’ expressed desire to “do a trilogy.”

Gonzalez answered, “Of course. Why wouldn’t they?” He went on to call the first film “a success,” saying he is “pretty sure that they’re going to let Reeves do his trilogy:”

Davis: “Is [Robert] Pattinson the guy [to continue to be the DC’s Batman]? That was an old regime move too, that first Batman movie. Really good, I loved it. A little divisive for some people, maybe not as accessible for some people. I know [Matt] Reeves wants to do a trilogy. We talked to Pattinson, he wants to do a trilogy. He wants to do a whole arc as Bruce Wayne. Do you think that they stay the course?”

Gonzalez: “Of course. Why wouldn’t they? The first movie was a success, so I’m pretty sure that they’re going to let Reeves do his trilogy. That Batman in that universe will continue going forward.”

WB knows what they have in The Batman universe and will seemingly make the right decision when it comes to moving forward with a sequel and its potential spin-offs. For those worried about The Batman 2 getting the ax, take a deep breath, it seems that Warner has seen the golden goose they have with this take on the character and will not touch it.
