Aaron Taylor Johnson mentions Robert Pattinson in his latest interview

Collider recently sat down and chatted with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and although not much can be said about Tenet, this is what Aaron shared:

I know you can’t talk specifics about doing a film like Tenet, with Christopher Nolan, but what it’s like to work with a filmmaker like Christopher Nolan? What was it like to collaborate with him on set and to watch him work with actors?

TAYLOR-JOHNSON: I love Christopher Nolan movies. When there was an opportunity to try to go for a role in any one of his movies, I’ve been the first person to have my hand up, saying, “Let me try.” I was very fortunate and lucky to have been accepted into the cast of Tenet. John David Washington is phenomenal and incredible, and a wonderful, genuine guy. He’s gonna be a star. Robert Pattinson is brilliant and great. I loved working with him. Working with Nolan is working with a legend. It’s about being able to stand back and observe how his mind works. How he is, as a filmmaker, and how he puts his films together is quite extraordinary. There’s no expense spared. He’s definitely trying to push the boundaries of cinema, in high concepts and sci-fi concepts, and the cinematic side of things is extraordinary to watch. It was a real honor and pleasure to be in his presence, and to work on that movie. But to be honest, there’s nothing else I can really say about it. [My emphasis]

Robert Pattinson talks films with Ruben V Nepales at The Inquirer

Ruben Nepales recently spoke with Rob where they talked about acting, The Lighthouse, The King, Tenet and The Batman. He also shared this new still from #TheLighthouse. Below are some extracts:

Rob talking about acting

“Gradually, you learn a little bit here and there,” he said. “I love acting more with every job. When I was doing ‘Harry Potter,’ I really didn’t know if that was going to be the case. I had fallen into acting and it was really fun.

“But I didn’t think that was almost 15 years ago. And to think that I’m still so excited by every job I do. Then you are figuring out a new way to do it—I still love that. But yeah, it’s just from a gradual process of learning things. And watching a ton of movies.”

“Every job you do as an actor, you realize that you finish the job going, well, I could never do that in real life (laughs). I can’t build anything. I can’t do anything at all. All I can do is go crazy and cry (laughs).”… “The other good thing is, I’m moving around so much I don’t mind. I don’t notice if something is filthy (laughs). It’s just quite wonderful. I don’t judge other people on being messy, either. It needs to be extremely messy to the point where it’s like, there are hoarders before something needs to be done.”

“It’s funny, everyone keeps talking about my accent, but that to me sounds like a French person,” Robert quipped. “I mean, I’m not doing it as a joke at all.”

“There were a couple of lines that I thought were funny,” Robert said. “I always find it weird in movies like that, where you are playing someone speaking English with an accent, and I was thinking, why would he be speaking English? It doesn’t make any sense.

“And when I did the costume fitting, I had seen all the other costumes.
“I just saw these mega gowns that I was wearing and I was like, oh, this is amazing. It makes me move differently. Then, when David Michod let me braid my hair to go into battle (laughs), I put it in braids. As soon as anyone lets you go far with something, as Hunter S. Thompson (author and journalist) said, ‘The tendency is to push it as far as you can.’”

Robert Pattinson talks to Variety about his career and The Batman

Not only has Variety spoilt us with Rob on the cover and a new interview, but they’ve also included a new photoshoot. Below is an extract from the interview on his thoughts about the role of The Batman:

Robert Pattinson couldn’t stop Googling himself. In mid-May, the 33-year-old actor found himself obsessively refreshing his phone on a flight from Los Angeles to the south of France. Pattinson was headed to the Cannes Film Festival for the world premiere of his new movie, “The Lighthouse,” just days before he was set to start shooting the next Christopher Nolan film, “Tenet.” But someone had tipped off the press about another top-secret project, one the entire world was now reporting on: Pattinson had been cast as the next Batman.

The stories were premature — Pattinson hadn’t even auditioned yet — and he was horrified that all the chatter would spook Warner Bros. executives into not hiring him. “When that thing leaked, I was f—ing furious,” Pattinson recalls on a recent rainy afternoon in London. “Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing.”

As he scoured the internet for any clues that he’d been cut from the studio’s wish list, the man next to him leaned over to say hello. “I was sitting next to Christopher McQuarrie,” Pattinson says. “I’d never met him before. Oh, God! He’d seen me Googling myself for the past hour!” Pattinson tried to explain to the director behind the latest “Mission: Impossible” films what had happened. “No worries,” McQuarrie said, nodding. “I’d probably be doing the same thing.”

This is Pattinson’s first interview since being formally anointed as the Dark Knight. And he still seems to be pinching himself about being next in line to put on the latex boots after Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck. Growing up in England, he watched the Tim Burton “Batman” movies. “When I was a kid, it was the only outfit that I had,” Pattinson says. But he won’t reveal where he used to wear his Batman costume. “If I actually said it in an interview, I would definitely have a lot of abuse afterwards,” he says with an outburst of nervous laughter. “If I successfully play the character, I can say it at the end.”

When Pattinson was named as the front-runner for the role, the backlash on social media was intense — a petition even surfaced on Change.org asking WB to reconsider. “This will ruin my childhood and my dreams,” one commenter posted. But Pattinson is surprisingly upbeat about the mixed reaction. “To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting,” he says. And he’s not deterred by the doubters: “It’s much more fun when you’re an underdog. There’s no expectation of you.”
