Edward Ashton teasing us today about his visit to the Mickey7 set. For anyone who has read the book, like me, we know this is gonna be one hell of a film. I cannot wait to see Rob play Mickey7 and Mickey8 and how Bong Joon Ho interprets the story.

Over the last few weeks there have been updates to the crew for Mickey7: casting directors – Francine Maisler and Jessica Ronane; supervising electrical rigger Marcus Blatchford; first assistant director – Ben Howard and second assistant director – Matthew Sharp; Andrew Cartwright in the costume department.

It should be no surprise that Film News Co UK is now reporting that Holliday Grainger has joined the cast and is currently filming Mickey7 with Rob. That’s their third film together as you might remember Holliday from Bad Monther’s Handbook and Bel Ami.

According to KFTV the UK shoot for Mickey7 is underway at Warner Bros’ Leavensden studios. The shoot is rumoured to last from August to December. Cannot wait to see Bong Joon Ho’s adaptation of this novel not to mention Rob’s interpretation of Mickey7 & Mickey8.

The Ronin can confirm that the Korean filmmaker has added production designer Fiona Crombie to the crew and will help bring the off-world colonial to life along with the ice world of Niflheim. Fiona’s credits include Yorgos Lanthimos’ period dark comedy The Favourite, the Disney hit Cruella, and most recently worked with director Ari Aster on his upcoming A24 pic which stars Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix.

According to Diario de Noticias – Bong-Joon Ho will reteam with Darius Khondji as his cinematographer on Mickey7:

[Khondji] says that he is already preparing another film in English by Bong Joon Ho, Mickey7: “It’s going to be a science-fiction movie for Warner. A big thing.”

Deadline confirms that Rob’s new Bong Joon-Ho film will commence filming in Summer:

EXCLUSIVEBong Joon-Ho’s follow-up film to Oscar winner Parasite is currently in pre-production at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden.

Robert Pattinson, coming off The Batman, is set to star in the anticipated sci-fi film, which is due to begin shoot over the summer.

As we revealed last week, also joining are Toni ColletteMark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie.

As we reported last week, the film will be inspired by the book but there may well be diversions.

I also tweeted the other day that the film is now in pre-production on IDMbPro

I tweeted on Saturday that there had been some movement on IMDbPro for Mickey7. Hiram Bleetman who also worked on The Batman in a similar role is now showing as Prop Making Buyer/Coordinator for the film.

They say don’t always believe what you read, and we’ve all been down this road before, a new project is mentioned, everyone is coy about it and then boom Rob has to pull out for some reason or another. But now Jordan Ruimy from World of Reel is hearing rumours that Mickey7 is due to commencing filming in the UK in August:

We had reported on 12.20.21 that Bong Joon-ho was setting his sights on his next film and that Tilda Swinton was going to be part of it. The following month, Variety officially confirmed Bong’s next film, which the trade said would also star Robert Pattinson and be an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s upcoming novel, “Mickey 7.”

Now we’re hearing that production on “Mickey 7” is set to commence in the UK, with the months of August to December booked for shooting. That’s five months for Bong to get his movie ready for Cannes ‘23.

I’m reading this novel at the moment and loving its witty writing style. I can’t wait to see Rob’s interpretation of the character and it may be the closest we see Rob do comedy (of some sort).
