Tenet has been nominated for Best Visual Effects by the Visual Effects Society and according to Gold Derby:

“No surprise that “Tenet” is among the nominees for the Visual Effects Society Awards. After all, it is the clear frontrunner for Best Visual Effects at the Oscars. It contends in the VES equivalent of the Best Picture race — visual effects in a feature motion picture “

Winners will be announced at the 19th Annual VES Gala on 6 April 2021.

15 February 2021: Seattle Film Critics announced winners today and Tenet was award Best Action Choreography and Best Visual Effects

UPDATED: 5 February 2021

Screen Daily posted about the BAFTAS unveiling their long list of films for the awards ceremony to be held on 11 April 2021. The short list will be announced on 9 March 2021. Tenet is included in the following 7 categories in the long list:

  • Director
  • Cinematography
  • Editing
  • Original Score
  • Production Design
  • Special Visual Effects
  • Sound

To be honest, I never understand how a film can be included in a Best Director or Cinematography category and excluded from Best Film or any of the Acting awards. Not just in the BAFTAS but in any awards.

UPDATED: 4 February 2021

Ludwig Goransson scored the only Golden Globe nomination for Tenet soundtrack – Best Original Score. Great news for Ludwig!

This year the IPA has nominated Tenet in 5 categories. Sadly no nomination for Rob in best support role. There are however nominations for:

  • Motion Picture, Drama
  • Ludwig Goransson, Original Score
  • Hoyte van Hoytema, Cinematography
  • Willie D. Burton, Richard King, Kevin O’Connell & Gary A.Rizzo, Sound Editing & Mixing
  • Andrew Jackson, Visual Effects

From IPA:

The International Press Academy selects the Satellite™ Awards nominees from domestic and international submissions in 35 categories: 22 Motion Picture and 13 Television categories. Nominations are derived from advanced screenings, worldwide film festivals (including BAFTA, Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, TIFF) as well as from screeners to journalists and/or sanctioned lists available by the stated deadline.

One of the primary goals of the IPA and its Satellite™ Awards is to celebrate new works from both established and developing independent filmmakers, giving them access to the widest audience from around the globe.

Despite this difficult time of confinement for our members throughout the world, we believe we have come up with a comprehensive and representative list of nominees, and the winners will be announced on February 15.
