Robert Pattinson

You all know how desperate I am to hear that Rob’s definitely signed on for this film, so I’m going to post any information that for me kind of confirms it.  I know that’s slightly out of character since I never really want to post it unless it’s 100% accurate, but I can’t help but share this little bit of apparent “exclusive” news from Mike Fleming at Deadline.  Mike’s saying that Sean Penn is out and “Christoph Waltz, a frontrunner in the Best Supporting Actor race for his portrayal of the charmingly sadistic Col Hans Landa [Inglourious Basterds], will make a deal to star with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in Water for Elephants, the Richard LaGravanese-scripted adaptation of the Sara Gruen novel for Fox 2000.

There’s a part of me that hopes that Sean really isn’t out because I had already pictured him perfectly in the role of August, but then there’s a part of me hoping that it is true because the line “to star with … Robert Pattinson” confirms that it’s definitely going ahead.  I’m pathetic I know.  If you want to read the full article just click on the highlighted Deadline above.  Clutching at straws I know.

Not pathetic at all Maria. I too am SO desperate to hear confirmation that Rob has definitely signed onto this film. I LOVE this story & want Rob to play Jacob so so much. His excitement when talking during the Details interview about his encounter with the elephants made me even more exited about the possibility of his involvement. Please please can we have official confirmation soon.

I go on line every day just to see if Robert is confirmed to be in Water for Elephants. I read the book also, and think that the part of Jacob would be such a good role for him..especially since reading in Details interview that he went to LA and met with movie elephants. It was a great story, and he made the encounter sound so exciting, almost magical.

My heart stopped, knees almost gave out and muffled a squeal when I saw the post title.
Every single bit of information on this project is MOST welcome until the official announcement, so thanks heaps for bringing it Maria …. and OMG how exciting ladies.

I believed Rob’s encounter with the movie elephants was a positive clue, not just my usual wishful thinking – and assumed it was some kind of introduction to ensure the chemistry was there between both parties. How I loved Rob’s passionate description and this … “The best day of my life. Beautiful beautiful day”. Lucky elephant!

I’m still going to pout at the idea of Sean being out, time will tell I guess and will try to adapt a healthier approach like Maria’s clutching at straws. Then re-read W4E with Christoph as August in mind, see how that goes – but only after confirmation.

    🙂

Same here Vertigo. So so exciting to log in & see this news 😀 I thought the same with the elephants. An intro to make sure the actors & they would work well together & all was right with the chemistry between them. Rob’s elephant story was one of my many many fave parts of the Details interview. Always makes me smile so much when I read it back. He described the encounter with such excitement & like you say passion. What a wonderful day it must have been. Oh how I cannot wait for this confirmation, just cannot. Major party time on that beautiful day (fingers tightly crossed) we receive it 😀

Soooo excited to hear this (i know i am a couple of days behind *hangs head*). Was so thrilled to hear him talk about the amazing time he had with the elephants in the Details article and now this…it really is strating to look like this will happen! Squeeeeeeeeee

I have my bottom lip out too would really love to see Rob on screen with Sean Penn but like Sare said we can’t have everything..

The elephant purrring is just the most adorable part of the Details interview. Rob’s enthusiasm was obvious and infectious.

However, I am very sad Sean Penn isn’t going to be involved in W4E. I think he is an outstanding actor and I enjoy anything he is attached to. Also for more selfish reasons as I suspect Rob would love to act alongside Sean. That would have been amazing!

But it’s still better to here Sean’s not in W4E than hearing that Rob isn’t in it. Please let’s have confirmation soon. I’m guessing the hold up may be because of BD?

Nope @Carmel – I don’t think BD has anything to do with it – if Rob’s involved with W4E they are looking at shooting in June. I’m guessing they might be waiting for the RM hype to be over before announcing or perhaps seeing what’s happening with Unbound Captives. BD – well they’ve dragged it on for so long that I’m bored with it. BD wasn’t supposed to commence filming until September – so he’s available for W4E anyway.

Yo espero que al final sea Rob quien trabaje en Agua para elefantes, hasta me he comprado el libro para leerlo aún sin saber si él va a actuar.
